How to decorate the jambs of the front door. Finishing the jambs of the front door - how to do it right

The front door forms the first impression of the home, so it must be both reliable and aesthetically attractive, and well-mounted. At the same time, the complete editing cycle includes stages that are often neglected due to ignorance. These include slope trim front door, which is necessary not only for the beauty of the design, but also for high-quality operation for a long time.

What it is?

As practice shows, slopes are often confused with platbands, since platbands are their external, decorative part. By themselves, they have only an aesthetic function. But the slopes are involved in ensuring tightness, sound insulation and thermal insulation, increase the resistance of the front door to breaking.

By definition, slopes are the inner and outer portions of a wall that “surround” a door frame. Slopes are also considered to be the left, right and upper sides of the doorway in which the door is supposed, but not installed. Not all types of doorways have slopes on both sides. Sometimes they may be absent on the outside, but on the inside they are in most cases.

The device of the door slope is quite complicated. High-quality slopes are not just parts of the wall that protrude beyond the frame, it is the optimal combination of materials, each of which is necessary to perform a separate function. Materials are superimposed on the principle of "layer cake".

The first layer is rough. To create it are used:

  • Primer. It is applied to the cleaned wall surface as a pre-finish coating. Priming compositions are necessary to level the absorbent properties of the surface, as well as to improve the “adhesion” of the following materials to it.

  • Styrofoam. This layer is optional, but desirable in cases where the wall needs to be insulated. This is true for apartments on the lower floors and private houses.

  • Plaster. The primer improves the adhesion of materials to the wall, but does not level the surface. Plastering is necessary to fill in irregularities, recesses or cracks in the wall. This process is the most time-consuming and long and requires certain skills and abilities.

Alternatively, you can use an easier-to-use material - drywall. This option allows you to quickly prepare the surface for further types of finishes, but it is not suitable in all cases. In the conditions of the Russian climate, it is more often used for interior decoration or in warm regions with high humidity.

  • Reinforcing corners. These thin but strong metal corners are essential for protecting plaster at the corners of slopes. The front door is a place with a lot of traffic, and the corners of the opening are often hit, hit, scratched. Without proper protection, plastered corners will quickly begin to crumble and lose their presentable appearance.

  • Putty. With its help, all the shortcomings are leveled after the installation of the corners. Putty compositions lie in an uneven layer, therefore, after they dry, the surfaces of the slopes must be cleaned. For this purpose, fine-grained sheets of sandpaper or small power grinders are used. Furniture is also suitable if it reaches hard-to-reach places.

The second layer is the finishing, or front. There are no strict rules in choosing finishes. It depends only on individual preferences and financial capabilities. The only condition that must be met is to choose a finish that is in harmony with the door leaf and wall decoration.

What to decorate inside the apartment?

The slopes protrude both from the outside and from inside doors. Accordingly, there are two types of finishes - external and internal. External, as a rule, is less variable. The main focus is on the design of the door leaf, and the slopes echo either with it or with the wall decoration. More often these are practical and concise options that do not attract attention.

Inside an apartment or house, the slope decoration becomes part of the interior. She is assigned a decorative role, so the types of materials and methods of decoration are of great importance.

Finishing with facing materials from the inside is of the following types:

  • Surface plastering.
  • Bonding finishing materials.
  • Frame cladding.
  • Coloring.

For the first type, plaster, primer, water and all are used. necessary tools. This process takes a lot of time, but it makes it possible to putty all the irregularities, insulate the structure, and make a layer of the desired thickness. Decor from other materials is often superimposed on top of the plaster, but in itself it is already considered a finished finish, therefore it belongs to the basic repair techniques.

“Clean” slopes after plastering are easy to paint in any suitable color, while they are polished to smoothness or, on the contrary, left embossed.

For decoration, you can use the following materials:

  • Ceramic tile (tile). Differs in rigidity, moisture resistance, hygiene, low price and a wide range of colors, shapes and textures. It is easy to care for the ceramic surface, however, the tile can crack or chip off due to mechanical damage, and during the replacement process you will have to work hard so as not to damage neighboring elements.

The undeniable advantage of tiles is the many possibilities for design. The mosaic looks especially original. It can be made from whole tiles of small size or from small pieces. Mosaic fragments are obtained artificially from tiles by cutting them into pieces. the right sizes, and jacks of all trades can use broken tiles for this purpose, which are considered unsuitable. The result is original and unique, and the cost of materials is minimal.

Any construction adhesive is suitable for gluing tiles. It is applied evenly with a plastic spatula, and the seams are rubbed in a day with a rubber spatula.

  • Porcelain tile. This material is often confused with ceramic tiles. Indeed, in the manufacture of porcelain stoneware, the same composition of the substance is used as for tiles, but the production technology is very different. As a result, the tile has a color coating only on top and becomes ugly when chipped, while porcelain stoneware has a uniform color throughout the entire thickness of the slab and damage is less noticeable on it. Also, its structure is denser, so it is more resistant to damage. In addition to being moisture resistant, environmentally friendly and durable, it also has frost resistance. In appearance, this material is more noble, but the color spectrum is very limited and its cost is higher than for ceramic tiles.

  • Decorative rock. It is truly an interior decoration, although it is far from always appropriate and is expensive. A feature of this material is that it can be used to simulate real masonry. He has an attractive appearance, gives zest to the interior, impeccable in terms of performance. The stone is not prickly, easy to clean, durable and safe materials. To fix it on the surface of the slopes, construction glue is used, but there are also ways to “sheath” the surface with decorative stone.

  • Wallpaper. Wallpapering is perhaps the easiest and most budgetary way to decorate. It is most convenient to stick wallpaper on slopes with plasterboard trim. The glue will also “grab” on the plaster, but for this the surface will have to be leveled especially carefully so that “bubbles” do not form on the wallpaper.

Given the high traffic at the entrance to the room, it is better to choose a washable wallpaper and in dark colors.

Sheathe openings with the following materials:

  • MDF. Finely dispersed fraction panels are very popular in all types of finishes. They are universal for any interiors, they look aesthetically pleasing and have a number of other advantages: durability, a variety of coatings that imitate different types of wood, ease of installation, improved sound insulation and thermal insulation in the room.

  • Chipboard. Finishing chipboard is the easiest way to tidy up part of the doorway if, after installing the door, it looks deplorable. In this case, even a primer and putty are not needed. It is enough to sheathe the surface with even sheets, matching in tone and pattern to the door leaf.

  • Laminate. Laminate sheathing is widespread for two reasons: it is inexpensive and looks an order of magnitude more solid than non-laminated recycled wood materials. The basis of the coating is fiberboard or chipboard (therefore, “sew up the slopes of chipboard” means the same as laminate), and on top it is decorated with a polymer film. The most common option is the stylization of precious wood, but there are other shades in a dark and light palette. It has a number of advantages inherent in all wood-based materials, as well as certain disadvantages. So, among the most common disadvantages are hydrophobia (the material can exfoliate and swell from water) and average wear resistance.

  • Dobory. sheathing internal slopes from the addition - this is rather a necessity than an element of decor. Dobors are narrow plates made of different materials, which are necessary to mask slopes, the width of which is more than 7 cm. As a rule, they are used when the door and slopes must be sheathed in the same style and with the same materials.

  • Drywall. The choice of drywall is relevant when you need a high-quality and budget result, which is convenient to work with with your own hands. In addition, drywall perfectly levels the surface for decorative finishes in the future and enhances the insulating properties of the front door.

  • Plastic. No matter how versatile MDF, laminate and similar materials are, a plastic door requires the design of the adjacent space with PVC-based materials. The use of sandwich panels is especially popular. They have a variable width - from 5 to 150 cm, which allows you to cover each side of the slope with just one piece.

The performance characteristics of the product are also on top: an aesthetic appearance that persists for a long time, biostability, resistance to humidity and temperature extremes, the presence of air sections inside the panels that ensure the preservation of heat in the house, and hygiene.

Modern plastic manufacturing technologies guarantee it environmental safety and non-toxicity.

  • Siding. The characteristics of siding panels are very diverse, because they are made from various materials - from aluminum to plastic. Slopes are finished with aluminum, copper, wood, plinth and vinyl siding.

The best option- vinyl. It is a monolithic PVC panel, main feature which is flexibility. It can be given absolutely any shape, ideally adjusted to angles without joints and gaps. Vinyl is not subject to the processes of rotting and burning, is not afraid of water, does not crack at temperature extremes, is easily cleaned of contaminants, and is not of interest to fungi and insects. The front side of the panels can be plain, with a pattern, stylized as stone, wood or brick.

Frame sheathing involves the preliminary installation of a metal (aluminum) or wooden profile around the perimeter of the doorway, to which any material is subsequently attached using self-tapping screws. This method is considered the most time-consuming, since before attaching the profile, it is necessary to prime and level the slopes. cement mortar.

Some types of materials (plaster, chipboard, MDF and drywall without a decorative coating) need to be painted to harmoniously blend with the interior of the room.

For these purposes are used:

  • Acrylic paints. They are convenient to add to the composition for plastering the surface. This simultaneously reduces the number of finishing steps, since surface leveling and painting take place simultaneously, and makes damage less noticeable, since the entire layer of plaster is painted over;
  • Water emulsion. Such paints can be added to the plaster or painted on the wall over the leveling layer. Using acrylic and paint water based, it is important to remember that they must be primed from above, otherwise the surface will get dirty. You can dilute the primer yourself from PVA and water in a ratio of 1: 5;
  • Latex based paints can also be used in two ways, but their advantage is that the final primer is not needed. Latex compounds are not hydrophobic and easy to clean;
  • Alkyd and oil. These compounds are indispensable in conditions of high humidity. They are more wear-resistant and dense, but they are more difficult to work with due to the thick consistency and toxic smell.

How to insulate?

Thermal insulation and sound insulation are functions of the front door, which partially depend on the type of slope finish. To warm the room, it is not necessary to run to the store for a heater. First you need to take care of maximum tightness, and you should start with the front door. This will not only increase the level of comfort in the house, but also help save money on utility bills in the future.

Insulation of slopes from the inside is carried out step by step:

  • Choice of materials. The leading positions are occupied by sandwich panels, drywall, polystyrene foam, mineral wool, polystyrene. Experts recommend choosing polystyrene, which is superior to other materials in many ways. At a relatively low cost, it is capable of thermoforming and vacuum forming, is resistant to moisture and chemical treatment, does not smell, is environmentally friendly, and can be different types processing. If polystyrene is not available, it can be replaced with a mineral slab (wool).

  • Preparatory work. They include all measures to clean the work surface. It is necessary to cut off the mounting foam, remove the old coating, if any, and eliminate irregularities as much as possible. After removal old plaster the surface must be dusted with a vacuum cleaner and a damp sponge.

  • Primer and putty. It is imperative to prime the surface of the slopes. This will ensure a good adhesion of subsequent layers to the wall, as well as minimize the likelihood of fungi and bacteria on the wall. Suitable for this purpose any soil of deep action. After applying it, the surface must be allowed to dry for 3-4 hours. Reapplying primer to plaster is acceptable.

It is not necessary to putty the slopes, but it is desirable, especially if the surface has many defects, chips and depressions. All these minor gaps greatly affect the insulating qualities of the front door.

  • Heater installation. At this stage, it is the turn of the insulating material. Polystyrene boards and mineral wool glued with specialized adhesives. The glue is applied with a spatula to the slab, then it is applied to the surface of the slope and adjusted to the level. The drying time of the glue is at least a day. After that, the plates are fixed with dowels.

  • Fixing the heater. Ideally, polystyrene or mineral boards should be coated plastic mesh for interior finishing work. This will protect against cracks and bumps in the future. The glue is applied to the mesh in layers, each layer dries to hardness in 6-12 hours.

  • Surface leveling. Here again, putty is needed. You can level the surface up to 2-3 layers. Then you need to let it dry for the time indicated in the instructions on the container, and process it with fine-grained sandpaper. The grain number on the sandpaper package is at least 100.

  • Final finishing. It includes the application of a colorless primer, followed by painting or any other decoration method.

It is important to consider that finishing materials have not only their own characteristics that affect thermal insulation, but also their own weight. It is necessary to calculate in advance whether the insulated slope will withstand, for example, the weight of porcelain stoneware or wall paneling, or whether paint, plastic, wallpaper should be preferred.

Colors

Slopes are a small detail that can both support the style in the interior and completely break out of it. The inappropriate color of the finish will become an element that violates the integrity of the overall picture, so it is important to choose the right color in accordance with the design of the door and the decoration of the walls, floor and ceiling in the room.

After installing a new iron front door in an apartment, all the pleasant impression about it can immediately be dispelled if you do not make slopes from the inside of the apartment. Only they can tell about the fully completed stage of repair work.

To make them ideal, most often invite specialists. On the other hand, you can make them yourself, if you have previously studied all the tips and tricks.

What are door slopes?

The slopes are a small section of the wall located around the door frame (outside and inside it).

In recent years, their arrangement is a must, because they not only decorate the overall appearance of the door space, but also serve as the beginning of the overall design of the corridor or rooms.

Types of finishing materials

By choosing right stuff, we can safely say that success awaits you in the process of finishing the slopes. If you are a beginner builder or do not have a lot of time and money, do not take on methods that require really significant skills and experience.

In order not to be mistaken, you need to know what materials suitable for creating a beautiful space around the front door.

MDF panels

MDF panels are a popular material that is perfect for these purposes. As a result variety of colors, panels can be trimmed with slopes in almost any interior.

Installation takes place using ordinary or liquid nails, as well as self-tapping screws, corners or a platband are superimposed around the perimeter.

Among the positive properties, the following should be noted:

  • able to withstand impacts and damage of small force;
  • have an attractive appearance;
  • easy to install by one person, do not require the help of professionals;
  • resemble various breeds wood, which allows you to make the appearance of the slopes visually expensive and sophisticated;
  • have good soundproofing properties.

Of the disadvantages for panels, it is characteristic that they cannot withstand scratches and strong impacts, as well as can change their appearance and structure if they are installed in rooms with high humidity (for example, baths and saunas).

In addition, being exposed to various pollution, require meticulous care otherwise it will be almost impossible to wash them.

Decorative stone effect tiles attached to a special solution. In the interior, decorative tiles look interesting and expensive.

The benefits include:

  • has a lower cost than a natural stone;
  • has a small weight;
  • does not require special care;
  • thanks to a wide color scheme able to imitate the appearance of any stone;
  • able to withstand significant temperature fluctuations;
  • moisture resistant.

chief the disadvantage is the fragility of the material. In rare cases, the size of the opening will match the size of the tile, so its installation almost always requires the ability to correctly and accurately cut the tile in order to avoid cracking it.

By choosing a heavy tile, there is a chance that it will lag behind on the top of the slope, creating danger for human life and health.

Laminate

Another option for finishing door slopes is laminate, material has the following advantages:

  • good indicative strength;
  • shelf life can be up to 15 years;
  • a wide choice of colors allows you to choose the right one for each specific room;
  • have excellent thermal insulation characteristics;
  • easy to wash and clean from various contaminants;
  • decorative elements can be easily fixed on them (using ordinary glue).

Among the shortcomings, it can be noted that this type of finishing material poorly resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations. As a result, over time, it can change its appearance and initial technical characteristics.

If you plan to install a laminate on the frame, then you need to be prepared for the fact that the doorway will become smaller.

Plastic

Plastic trim works well for a doorway just because you don't have to spend a lot of money to buy it. it is lightweight, can imitate various textures and materials, and is also easy to care for.

Among the shortcomings, it can be noted - its fragility, because even with the slightest impact and effort, it simply deformed and broken.

Decorative rock

Decorative stone is a material with a huge number of positive properties. Finishing with decorative stone quite expensive compared to other materials, but also looks more luxurious in the interior, as shown in the photo.

Advantages:

  • completely environmentally friendly material;
  • installation does not require a perfectly flat surface;
  • perfectly withstand high temperatures, a large amount of moisture;
  • unlike natural stone, it has a much lower weight;
  • wonderful appearance, variety of textures allows you to please the tastes and requirements of any customer;
  • can be mounted in a doorway of any shape and size;
  • does not burn, retains heat well in the room;
  • Washes well and doesn't absorb odors.

Of the minuses of decorative stone, it is only known that it is not recommended to use it for exterior finish doors who go straight out into the street.

Under the influence of very low temperatures in severe frosts, the material may be slightly destroyed.

Plaster

Plaster is often used in the creation doorways. This is one of the economical finishing options, with the help of plaster, if necessary, you can not only repair the slopes but also level them.

It has such advantages:

  • perfectly insulates the living space;
  • well cleaned of contaminants;
  • has high strength;
  • thanks to various methods of application to the surface, it is possible to give the slopes a unique appearance;
  • long shelf life.

The main stages of drywall installation:

  1. By measuring the magnitude of the side slope, cut out from a sheet of drywall blank, which must necessarily be 1 cm larger in width. If this is not done, then the sheet cannot be inserted into the gap between the opening and the box.
  2. Having made a recess with a knife in the mounting foam passing between the door frame and the opening, insert a side cut sheet into it. Slightly bending it on the other side, using a gun, apply mounting foam along the entire length.
  3. It is good to press the material to the wall. Make sure that there are no distortions. The sheet must be placed strictly vertically. Fill all cracks with mounting foam.
  4. Performing all the above actions, fix the second vertical slope in the same way.
  5. Measure the top of the opening and from the drywall sheet cut a sheet of identical length, which will be 1 cm wider in width (for the same purposes as the side segments).
  6. In the mounting foam, make a recess where to bring the resulting piece of material. Using a level, check the correct angles between the side and top sections of the slope.
  7. Glue the sheet with mounting foam, pressing it well to the base of the wall.
  8. After waiting for the complete drying of the mounting foam(this will take 1 day) you can start applying finishing materials to drywall.

This video shows step by step how to make a do-it-yourself slope trim.

What to issue?

Slope framing - an important stage in the entire work of creating a doorway. You need to start it by creating corners on drywall with putty.

You need to do it this way:

  1. Using a spatula, apply a small layer of putty to the corner.
  2. After waiting for it to dry completely, we apply a sickle, which is covered with another layer of putty.
  3. When the second layer is completely dry, a finishing putty is thinly applied to the corners. In this case, any irregularities must be avoided.

If you plan to paint such slopes, then the entire surface of the drywall must also be plastered twice. In the event that you complete repair work there will be wallpaper, sheets can not be further processed.

Creating beautiful door slopes is not very hard work that any man can do without resorting to outside help. The main thing at the same time is to first study all the necessary recommendations, consult a specialist and purchase those materials that will be simple and easy to work with.

When the front door for the house is installed, many people have a question, how to finish the slopes of the front door after installing the iron doors.

It is possible to do this work different methods, depending on the style and interior.

Often, the slopes of the entrance doors require repair and replacement, not only after installing the doors, but also in old houses.

The material will discuss in detail the methods for designing slopes, as well as the procedure for doing it with your own hands.

Do-it-yourself front door slopes - what to do?

Often the problem arises if the house is panel or brick and the building was built back in the Soviet Union. You can veneer a slope in an apartment or house using different methods, among which there are 11 methods. Some of them are used to decorate the outside of the entrance, and some materials are suitable for interior work.

Thanks to modern materials, the choice for the client is very large and the price of the slope will be different, depending on the material chosen. Now we need to get acquainted with the characteristics of the materials and their application in more detail:

Material: Description:
Drywall: GKL can level the surface, the material is in demand, but sealing the slopes will be a laborious process. After installation, it is necessary to plaster the material and you can paint, glue wallpaper, lay artificial stone.
Plaster: It is better that the master was engaged in plastering. At the end of the preparation, it will be possible to paint the finished slope, put decorative rock, use a board or tile for facing.
Decorative plaster: It is applied on plastered slopes, the material is textured, so the surface must be even. Great for outdoor work.
MDF: Processing of slopes and metal doors is carried out quickly and inexpensively. It is used for a narrow slope, it is possible to build up the door and use additional sound insulation between the panel and the door.
Laminate: The material is similar to MDF, but is used even if the slope is wide.
Wood: Suitable for interior work, especially if the hallway cladding is made of wood. Installation can be carried out independently, the doors themselves can be sewn up with wood, but in addition, antifungal agents and varnish must be used. It is possible to insulate doors and slopes.
Chipboard: The material is inexpensive, rarely used and only if the slopes are very large. The material is short-lived and for the duration of operation it is better to use chipboard with an additional film, such material does not need to be laminated, it comes with lamination from the factory.
Dobor: Perfect if the entrance has two doors. In this case, one material is used for doors and slopes. The price segment is average, installation is easy.
PVC panels: It is not difficult to arrange the slopes of PVC entrance doors, but the look will be simple, but the material is practical and durable. Vinyl material is not afraid of moisture, it is easy to care for it, it can be used outside.
Stone: Not fashionable, but a decent option and practical for front doors. You can use natural stone, as well as decorative - imitation of natural raw materials.
Tile: A non-standard choice for slopes, it may look strange, but it is durable and practical.

Important! Knowing the main points on how to decorate the slopes in an apartment or house, you need to make a choice and you can start working, which will be discussed below. It is worth noting that a cork can be used after preliminary plastering. It looks very nice; a sandwich panel, brick and other possible finishing materials are also often used.

Do-it-yourself slope near the doors (video)

It is difficult to show a detailed instruction on finishing the door slopes in the photo, so you can see the work of the master on the video:

External slopes of the entrance door

After installing the doors, you will need to carefully seal all the joints and cracks between the door frame and the walls. Mounting foam is ideal for this. When it dries, the remains must be cut off and checked for leaks, for this the doors are closed, and a lit match or lighter is held around the perimeter. If the flame moves, then it is necessary to use the mounting material again.

Further, the platband is placed on both sides and at the top. Platbands should be chosen according to the color and design of the door. If the door is installed with a recess, then the slope must be sealed. FROM outside, as a rule, cement mortar is used, but before covering the wall with it, it is cleaned of dirt and dust.

In principle, to cover up the slope and finish it can be different materials, for example, use "Rodband" and other mixtures. Finishing may also be different. For example, a slope can be painted, sheathed, a lining can be used, and if the door was installed not in a private house, but in an apartment where the entrance is heated, then it is recommended to use a laminate or plastic.

Finishing the front door from the inside can also be done with different materials and is most often used:

  1. Drywall.
  2. Wood or wood fiber material (MDF).
  3. Plastic material (lining).
  4. Plaster.

Wood veneer is the most popular type of finish because it is natural and can fit perfectly into any design. But the lack of material - the cost and the temperature and other factors, the wood will deteriorate over time and it must be restored.

It is easy and cheap to repair the slope with plaster. A beginner can also plaster the surface, after which the slope can be painted in any desired color. If the slope of the door is plastered, then, if desired, at any time it will be possible to repaint it and even finish it with other materials.

Advice! Plastic for the slope of the front door is rarely used, as a rule, siding is used when installing PVC doors. Drywall is often used to slope doors, which is carried out by simply leveling the surfaces, after which it is plastered and painted or lathed with other materials.

If the house is private, they live in it only in summer and spring, while the door is steel, then you can only decorate the slopes inside, and do not touch the door itself. Upholstery in this case is not necessary. But if the residence in the house is permanent, then not only the design of the door slopes is carried out, but also the replacement of the old one or the installation of new material as upholstery. The selection of material depends on personal preferences, you can use leatherette or solid materials, between which you can additionally lay insulation.

Stages of installation of slopes of the front door

The installation of slopes is carried out in order to give a beautiful view to the entrance or exit, in addition, this method allows you to fix the door frame, you can install additional sound insulation or insulation so that the cold does not come from the street. The design method depends on each person, you can choose a suture method or a seamless one. The main thing is to choose the material and only then proceed to work with your own hands.

Initially, it is better to use cement in order to close up holes, give density and sealing was up to the mark. After that, it will be possible to carry out further finishing.

Preparatory stage

The preparation is very important process, which will be the same for any method. It is important to do everything right so that in the future there is no deformation of the slopes. Initially, the steel entrance and its box are sealed with a film so that dust does not set and damage occurs. Then it is necessary to dismantle the protruding parts and foam, which will interfere with the installation of the frame.

When everything is cleaned and removed from dirt, dust, it is necessary to treat the walls with a primer and wait as long as indicated in the instructions. Right choice for primer - deep penetration mixtures. On the this stage you can lay the wiring for the light or switch. Preparation on this will be completed, and you can proceed directly to the installation work.

Installation of door slopes

The corner slope can be installed using a frame or by setting the finish on the mortar, glue. It is more difficult to work with the frame, so this process will be described step by step below. For the frame, wood slats or a metal profile are suitable. You can put the frame on the dowels, the strips are attached around the entire perimeter of the opening with two rails on both sides, as shown in the photo:

To strengthen the slope, several rails are mounted in parallel, can be installed at the lower, upper and middle points. If drywall is used, then it is simply attached to the profile with self-tapping screws around the perimeter, sinking the hat, and the space between the wall and the plasterboard can be filled with insulation. A perforated corner is installed on the edges of the material, and the joints must be sealed with a sickle. Further, everything is puttied and leveled with sandpaper. At the very end, the dust is removed and finishing is carried out.

If MDF is used, then mounting on the frame should be carried out with small nails or self-tapping screws. Corners and fasteners are covered with platbands. The laminate is very easy to install, the first lamella is neatly fastened with nails directly into the groove, and the rest are installed in the lock. Also, the last bar is necessarily attached.

Sealing the slopes of the front door with plaster

Before carrying out work, it is necessary to cover all parts that can get dirty. After preparing the jamb and priming it, drying the soil, profiles are installed to facilitate the alignment of the walls. Beacons are fastened with a solution of gypsum. To install, you need to make "blobs" of the solution in 3 places of the lighthouses, using the level to set the plane.

When the mortar is solid, it is necessary to start plastering, cement or other mixtures can be used. They just need to overlay the surface of the wall and align everything with the beacons, applying the rule. When the mixture dries, in about a day, the surface of the walls should be puttied using the starting and finishing mixtures. For perfect evenness, the grout is carried out with a mesh or sandpaper. The slope on the front door is prepared and the necessary finishing material is applied.

Slopes for entrance doors - a combination of materials

If the doors are iron, then it is recommended to ennoble them additionally. You can glue them using dermantin or leatherette. If the house is a country house, then it is recommended to use wood material that will fill the interior with warmth and the right atmosphere. In addition, the door itself and the slopes can be sealed with MDF panels, it will be beautiful and relatively inexpensive, especially since the panels will be easy to install.

The slopes in the hallway are combined with different materials, for example, the opening itself can be made of drywall, made dark so that dust and dirt are not visible, but the door trim can be made of wood, chipboard or MDF. It is recommended to additionally set the threshold in the color of the opening, and give original look will allow a telescopic casing. It is better to install a decorative plastic corner on the corner, which can close the gaps. Its installation is carried out on a sealant.

It is recommended to use wenge color for openings, but if the interior is made in light colors, then bleached oak color will do. Reading any review, doing the work and lining the doors with your own hands is a simple matter and takes a maximum of a couple of days, of course, if you do not use tiled material and mixtures that dry for a long time. The main thing is not to rush and do everything carefully, you can use the recommendations from the article to help. Having made the slope of the front door correctly, using the right combination of materials, even Khrushchev will be transformed.

Finishing methods and their advantages

You can close the slopes using the following methods:

  • applying cement mortar to the surface of the walls. This method has become quite widespread among both experienced professionals and beginners. However, along with the budget, there is one solid minus - it is very difficult to prepare a cement mortar, however, it is very difficult to apply it to the wall, one cannot do without practical skills in this matter;
  • application of the adhesive mixture. Such material will cost a pretty penny, but working with it is much easier, which a beginner will certainly appreciate. Glue is applied to the surface in several layers;
  • frame installation. Not the most durable material, but it will reliably hide the wires. In addition, the surface as a result is perfectly flat.

In any case, you need to make slopes on the doors. And the point here is not only in the aesthetic appearance, but also in your comfort and safety.

Finishing preparation

Regardless of which finishing method you prefer, there is no escape from standard preparatory measures. To door leaf not hurt, it needs to be covered masking tape or film. Only then proceed to leveling the surface. All irregularities and roughness should be carefully smoothed out. For those who decide to use a special solution for finishing, dust removal is especially important. It must be removed from everywhere, literally from every centimeter of the surface.

Remember: the reliability of bonding materials depends on this. Sweep dust with a regular brush. The main thing is that she has a hard pile. The next preparatory stage is the application of a deep penetration primer. After that, if desired, you can lay an electric wire on this surface.

Plastering

How to properly trim the slopes of the front door - you will have to face this question if you need to change the door in your own home. There are many ways to close slopes. If you prefer to plaster them, you should follow the whole process in stages:

  • prepare the surface. It is recommended to apply a primer;
  • The next step is to align the corners. Reinforcing corners are often used;
  • further perforated corners are attached. Mount them already on the finishing putty. Thus, they will stick securely, and as a result you will get perfectly even slope angles;
  • very often, specialists have to deal with the problem of uneven walls. Really fix at the stage of finishing the slopes of your front door with your own hands: from door jamb a narrow strip of drywall is fixed;
  • further finishing of the door slopes is carried out using putty. It is not difficult to apply, but it can take a lot of time. It all depends on the composition of the putty itself and the thickness of the layer in which it is applied;
  • the final stage of plastering is the application of a primer.

At the end of the work done, the surface can be freely painted or, if desired, pasted over with wallpaper.

Bonding material to mortar

Installation of slopes on a new front door can be carried out using a special adhesive mixture. This method is not among the cheapest, but the ease of use of the material and the result justify the money you spent. Wet glue is applied in several layers. Do not forget to allow the surface to dry completely after each step.

Frame mounting

How to close the slopes on the door? Very often, the method of fastening materials directly to the frame is used. In this case, no special preparatory work is required from you. You just need to apply a primer to the surface. The implementation of this method of finishing slopes requires metal profiles (they are suitable for installing plasterboard structures), wooden blocks. First, the structure itself is fixed, and then the coating. Sheathing materials are different.

Modern experts very often prefer to install MDF door slopes. These plates are characterized by medium density. In the installation of this design, you can use ordinary screws and cloves. What is remarkable about this material is its aesthetics. In addition, its technical qualities indicate a high reliability of the coating.

Laminate door slopes are installed in much the same way as an MDF board. Among the key advantages of this material are reliability, a wide color spectrum, as well as good insulating characteristics and ease of cleaning from various contaminants. When installing a laminate on an already prepared frame, consider the fact that the doorway will decrease somewhat. In addition, one significant drawback catches the eye: the laminate is exposed to moisture.

Drywall

Drywall is also often used for sealing slopes. Durable and reliable, cheap and suitable for long-term use, this material is widely used by both professionals and beginners. Install it on a structure made of metal profiles. Fasten with self-tapping screws. Finishing the installation, be sure to put the perforated corners. Now you just have to treat the surface with putty.

Door slopes made of drywall or plastic are a budget option that has a lot of advantages. Do you choose plastic material or prefer something more durable, it depends entirely on you. The main thing is that the finishing of the slopes combines both a neat appearance and reliability.

Slopes on the front door: how to arrange it yourself

Often, the entrance opening inside is made out with the help of slopes on the front door. How to choose a material for finishing and make beautiful slopes, read the article

How to finish the slopes of the front door: different options

Finishing the slopes of the front door can be done different ways. Each of the available options has its own advantages and disadvantages and is selected individually. It is advisable to take into account many factors, which are the overall interior design, possible financial costs, as well as the skills needed to complete all stages.

Reasons for doing the work

How to trim the slopes of the front door? This question always arises when there is a need for this kind of finishing. There can be many reasons for doing this:

  • Installation of a new structure. This is the most common situation. During the installation work, adjacent areas are destroyed. It often happens, especially in old houses, that there is a complete shedding of the old layer of slopes, because they are made of plaster. It must be taken into account that the new door must be installed correctly, without distortions, in order to exclude subsequent repair work.
  • The appearance of defects. Over time, any finish becomes unusable. The same situation occurs with slopes, especially if they frame the entrance. Cracks, shedding, traces of mechanical impact appear on the surface. It is very important to assess the situation in time in order to install new door slopes without unnecessary work.
  • Changing the general appearance of the room. Really, new cladding input and interior doors do-it-yourself is necessary when the design of adjacent rooms changes. Sometimes it seems that the door slope is an area that does not affect the overall appearance of the interior. This is an erroneous opinion, because even such a seemingly insignificant detail plays an important role.

Entrance door trim options

On a note! There is another reason for replacing slopes, which is the appearance of mold and mildew. This situation will require cleaning the surface to the ground, cleaning all affected areas and impregnation with antiseptics. You should immediately find the causes leading to the appearance of this problem.

What material to choose for the slope device?

There are many options that allow you to do the slopes of the front door with your own hands.

This finishing material is used everywhere. It must be borne in mind that this option has the lowest cost. All work is carried out independently, without the use of special tools. More recently, this method was one of the main ones, but recently its popularity has begun to fall. There are many reasons for this, among which stands out - not the most beautiful visual appearance. Of course, this state of affairs is easy to fix if you use decorative and textured plaster.

plastered slope

  • Drywall.

The popularity of GKL plates is only growing. This material allows you to perform all the work quickly enough. But this is true for large areas. If only finishing the slopes of the front door from the inside, then there will be a need for additional manipulations. The fact is that during installation, numerous cracks (joints) appear that need putty with putty.

Drywall slope during installation

  • MDF panels.

This should include the laminate. Such products are great for finishing work. The panels are installed very simply, the resulting surface has an excellent decorative look. But there is one drawback, if the width of the opening is greater than the material used, then it becomes necessary to perform docking. Laminate forms less noticeable seams, but they also impair visual perception.

MDF front door trim

  • Natural tree.

Of course, make door slopes with natural wood is a rather expensive procedure. But we must not forget that a very beautiful coating is obtained, which has unlimited durability. If necessary, restoration work can be carried out. All activities must be carried out in compliance with numerous technological nuances.

Door frames made of natural wood

  • chipboard materials.

This option allows you to veneer even very wide openings. Many mistakenly perceive chipboard as an exclusively material for the manufacture of furniture. In fact, for facing areas adjacent to the front door, thinner sheets are used, which have very impressive characteristics.

Finishing the slope of the laminated chipboard

Advice! Currently, there is a large selection of chipboard. For installation, sheets are used that have a thickness of 6 to 10 mm.

Plastic slopes are an option that is more suitable for working with window openings. The fact is that this species products often comes into disharmony with the material input structures. Of course, modern technologies allow you to choose the right solution, but it is not always possible to do this.

Door slopes made of PVC panels

  • Decorative stone and brick.

There is an opinion that this method is rapidly going out of fashion. In fact, the situation is not so sad. Such material allows you to get an individual and reliable surface. It should be borne in mind that the laying of parts will require a large amount of time. Many masters pay attention that in the future it will be very difficult to perform Finishing work walls. After all, for work you will have to use a limited set of options. So, for example, cladding with any kind of panels will be difficult - it is difficult to fit them under the masonry.

Decoration of the front door opening with decorative stone

  • Extras.

This material is most suitable for mounting slopes on interior doors. A box of such designs suggests the use of this option. Therefore, door manufacturers are developing a whole line of extensions that are completely identical in color and texture to the door leaf.

Slope from extensions

Preparatory activities

Installation of slopes on the front door begins with preparation. It is important to perform the work qualitatively in order to avoid correcting possible problems.

  • The surface is cleared of the existing remnants of the old layer. If the coating crumbles, then it should be completely removed to the base.
  • If a new structure was installed, then excess foam remains. It is cut with a clerical knife. It is impossible to allow the removal of excess.
  • All joints and gaps between the box and the wall are smeared. Sealing is carried out around the entire perimeter.
  • Sections of the walls are finished with plaster. If sheet and panel materials, then the sealing of the slopes of the front door is carried out without careful leveling of the surface.
  • Be sure to treat with antiseptic and priming compounds. This will help prevent mold and mildew. It will also improve adhesion if the door slopes are finished with decorative mixtures after installing the front door.
  • A complete absence of areas that may contain small cracks should be achieved. It is these, sometimes imperceptible defects, that are the source of drafts and unpleasant howls when it comes to entrance openings.

Stages of preparing the slopes of the front door for finishing

Slopes on the door are mounted only after full preparation.

Technological aspects of working with some materials

Each of the materials has its own characteristics and technological aspects, which should be considered in more detail.

Work with plaster: simple and decorative (textured)

Slopes on the front door with conventional plaster are done as follows:

  1. The right amount of the mixture is prepared, which should be enough for 35-40 minutes of work. If there are surpluses, they will quickly lose their properties.
  2. The solution should be applied in layers that are equal to 1-1.5 centimeters. It is taken into account that more than two layers require reinforcement with a reinforcing mesh.
  3. To obtain a flat surface, beacons are installed. They are fixed on a small amount of plaster.
  4. Experience should be realistically assessed. If it is not enough, then a wooden lath is laid along the outer edge around the entire perimeter. It should protrude to the width of the applied layer. That is, it will serve as a guideline in order to prevent distortion.
  5. After drying, beacons are removed, which leave behind small defects. They are removed with a newly prepared solution. When removing rails, care must be taken. Corners can be reinforced with perforated corners.

Plastering door slopes requires certain skills

After the surface has completely dried, the slopes for the entrance doors are finished decorative materials. It can be paint, wallpaper. But decorative plaster (textured putty) will look much more interesting. It is applied after the primer:

  • The decorative mixture is laid on the surface.
  • With the help of various devices, a relief is formed. If a decorative mortar is used, then the coating is obtained by proper spreading.
  • In the future, depending on the material used, paint, varnish or waxing is carried out.

Thus, plaster can still be great solution for finishing slopes, especially if simple repairs or interior renovations are being carried out.

Drywall: installation on putty

How to make slopes of the front door using plasterboard plates? The work is carried out according to the following principle:

  1. Putty will be used as a fixing material. She's perfect for this job.
  2. The process begins with a careful measurement of the opening. All available options must be cleared. Based on them, a diagram of each part is built. It should be borne in mind that the entrance doors have beveled openings. This is an important nuance.
  3. Drywall is cut into pieces. For this, a construction knife is used, with which sheets are cut. Of course, the edges are very uneven, they will have to be sealed with putty.

Cutting drywall sheets

  • All elements are tried on in their place.

On a note! It is important to remember that the horizontal element is superimposed on two vertical parts. Its thickness is subtracted from the dimensions of the racks.

Installation of drywall on putty

How to close the joints and cracks that have appeared? Indeed, when fragments of plasterboard are installed on the front door with their own hands, then finishing measures are necessary. They lie in the fact that the corners are formed using perforated overlays, and the surface is covered with a layer of putty.

The installation of gypsum boards differs from plastering in that the base is formed much faster. The job does not require special skills.

MDF panels: fastening to the crate

Finishing the slopes with MDF panels is carried out on the crate. This method is preferred for situations where the assembly seam is larger than 4 cm.

The product should be installed using the following technology:

  1. Mounted around the entire perimeter of the opening wooden beam. Parts are stacked horizontally. Fixation is carried out on dowels.
  2. It is advisable to treat the planks with an antiseptic before installation.
  3. The resulting cells are filled with insulation.
  4. All areas are measured. Panels are cut out. They are put into place.
  5. Fastening takes place on self-tapping screws, which are screwed into the very edges. They will be covered with decorative corners.
  6. Thus, all elements are fixed on the frame.

Sheathing slopes MDF: doorway before and after finishing

Chipboard: installation on vertical racks

Do-it-yourself door slopes using chipboard - this is not the most the best solution. But at correct installation- the coating will be durable.

  1. The whole process almost completely repeats the work with MDF panels. The difference is that the wooden beam is installed vertically. That is, you need to get two racks that are fixed at each edge.
  2. For work, LDPS is used, which is most suitable in thickness. After taking the dimensions, the parts are sawn.
  3. In order not to repair the material due to water ingress, all open ends are coated with sealant.
  4. The elements are fixed through pre-drilled holes, which at the initial depth should be slightly larger than the diameter of the cap. This will allow you to drown the screws so as not to damage the front side. All holes are covered with special wax or sealed with overlays.
  5. All corners and joints are closed with decorative corners.

This method is convenient if the slopes of interior doors are faced, which are less susceptible to moisture.

PVC panels: adhesive mount

This material is rarely used for such work. Also, many people mistakenly believe that you can give preference to the cheapest options. In fact, such a choice leads to the fact that the coating begins to deteriorate immediately after installation: defects appear, color changes.

Most often plastic panels fixed with glue:

  1. Preparatory work is being carried out carefully. The differences should not be more than 2 mm per 1 m.
  2. The panels are cut according to the dimensions taken from the areas to be lined.
  3. It should be borne in mind that the fastening is carried out on glue. Therefore, before installing the slopes on the door with your own hands, all surfaces must be pre-treated. A primer is used for the walls, and the plastic is slightly sanded from the inside with sandpaper. Such procedures will increase adhesion.
  4. Glue is applied with a snake. It is important to consider that excess mixture is removed immediately, otherwise the surface may be damaged, which will lead to repair or replacement of parts.
  5. The elements are pressed against the base, but are not held, but immediately come off. After waiting a few minutes, they are finally installed.
  6. Now it remains only to fix the decorative fragments.

The most simple and fast way PVC installations panels on slopes - this is an adhesive fastening

Modern versions of PVC have sufficient strength and beauty. Alternatively, sandwich panels are used.

Decorative stone and brick (tile): the main thing is to draw up a diagram

How to make slopes on doors made of artificial stone or similar materials? The procedure is:

  1. It all starts with drawing up a diagram. It should reflect the actual position of the elements. If brick laying can be drawn on paper, then more work will have to be done with the stone.
  2. Initially, the surface is marked. It is immediately taken into account whether the details will lie only inside the opening or frame the outer part.
  3. Detailing is done on the floor. It must be sufficiently detailed.
  4. Now start lining. The stone is attached to glue or a special mixture. It is important to consider whether suture or seamless technology will be used.
  5. After laying, if the surface is not protected, it is varnished.

Thus, slopes for doors can be made of various materials. Each option is selected individually.

Finishing the slopes of the front door from the inside with your own hands: installation options (photo, video)

Finishing the slopes of the front door requires a special approach. Various materials are used for work, some of them are suitable for independent use.

Slopes for entrance doors

With carelessly made slopes, even the most expensive and luxurious front doors will look unattractive. Why do we need slopes for entrance doors? First of all, they are used as beautiful frame, a means of complementing and highlighting the main element - that is, the door itself. So that you can decide what material to make slopes from, you must first of all pay attention to the design of the door structure, her style and color. After all, it is important that the slopes fit not only the design of the door, but also the overall design of the room.

Slopes for entrance doors

We also note that the described elements perform not only aesthetic functions - they are also an insulating layer, because they close the joints between the structure and the walls.

Basic materials for the manufacture of slopes

To create slopes, you can use the most various materials, although, as an option, you can bring the already existing slopes into a “divine form”.

Option one. Plaster

If the door structure is strong and reliable, but does not look very presentable, reinforce the corners and level the slopes using plaster. Tellingly, this is often done not only by staircase but also in the hallway.

Note! The plastered slopes will look pretty neat - if you wish, you can additionally paint them in the color of the room or door trim.

Option two. Drywall

It is advisable to use this material if your slopes turned out to be wide due to the rather large thickness of the walls. Thanks to the use of drywall, your walls will become warmer, and all existing joints will be securely closed. In addition, the slopes, again, will look very neat.

If you want, you can subsequently paint the drywall or, alternatively, paste over with wallpaper. One of the main advantages of the material is that its installation does not require laborious work to level the surface.

Option three. natural wood

If the wood is suitable for door trim, then you can use it for slopes. It is no secret that wood has always enjoyed considerable popularity and, apparently, will never go out of fashion. The material fits perfectly into almost any interior design, and if necessary, you can easily change the tint of the material using folk / modern means.

In addition, wood can serve you for many years, while retaining all its decorative and operational properties. Although, in a pinch, you can always paint it to match the color of the hallway.

Option four. Laminated lining

Such lining, made on the basis of chipboard, can be an excellent alternative to natural wood.

Due to the fact that this material is produced in the most different colors and can imitate the texture of various tree species, you can always choose the most suitable option under the decoration of the hallway. However, it is highly undesirable to use lining when finishing external slopes, since it will simply quickly become unusable there.

Option five. PVC panels

The next material through which they can get off slopes for entrance doors, are ready-made PVC panels. This material is produced in the most different colors, and the dimensions of the panels can also be different. The manufacture and sale of this kind of panels are carried out by specialized companies, where specialists work who are also engaged in their (panels) installation.

This finish of the slopes looks attractive and respectable. The service life of PVC panels is quite long, but it is still desirable to mount them from the side of the hallway, and on the reverse side - options No1 or No2 (they are described above).

Note! If you are completely confident in yourself, you can finish the slopes with finished elements with your own hands.

Although it is worth noting that there is another option for using polymeric materials for slopes - in this case we are talking about plastic lining. She also happens different colors, so you can easily choose the most suitable option for decorating the hallway.

Option six. Chipboard panels

Yes, they are also widely used in the design of slopes. But, as a rule, only for thick walls. Although in fairness, we note that this option has not been very popular in recent years due to the emergence of a huge number of more modern materials that can replace chipboard elements that are so difficult to install.

In any case, if you have a panel of suitable sizes lying around, you can very well decorate door slopes from the inside with it.

Note! There are other materials used in the design of slopes (for example, laminate, installation instructions for which will be given at the end of the article), but only the most common options were considered above.

What is required for the design of slopes on their own?

Before proceeding directly to work, you must prepare everything necessary materials and equipment. So, if we are talking about plaster, then you should prepare:

  • finishing putty;
  • sandpaper (large and medium);
  • primer;
  • sickle tape, self-tapping screws and a mounting knife (in case drywall sheets are used for finishing);
  • the plaster itself;
  • iron perforated corner (it will be required to align the corners);
  • level;
  • spatulas of different sizes;
  • plumb;
  • rule (it is important that it be shortened);
  • electric drill with a special nozzle-mixer;
  • container of suitable size for mixing.

If panel materials are used for finishing, then the list of everything you need will look a little different:

  • the panels themselves of the material you have chosen, additional elements required for their installation;
  • a hammer;
  • platbands, decorative corners;
  • timber 2x3 or 1.5x3 centimeters (in case slopes for entrance doors will be finished with clapboard);
  • screwdriver;
  • dowels;
  • electric jigsaw (as an option - you can use a simple hacksaw);
  • perforator (in case of walls made of concrete);
  • measurement tools;
  • self-tapping screws with which the panels will be attached.

When all the required equipment and materials are ready, you can proceed to preparatory work and directly finishing. Let's consider in more detail each of the possible options.

How to properly trim slopes for entrance doors - detailed step-by-step instructions

First, let's get acquainted with some features of the finishing process.

  • Most of the materials described above are installed using the same technology.
  • Some technologies are quite simple, and therefore the work can be done independently.
  • The rest, on the contrary, can only be used if you have certain skills in working with materials and equipment.

In any case, the finishing work itself should begin only after the installation of the door structure and the sealing of all joints between it and the wall. We also add that the previous coating should be removed from the slopes in advance, as well as peeling areas should be repaired. After carrying out all these activities, you can proceed directly to the finish using one of the technologies presented below.

Option one. Plastering door frames

If you decide to use a plaster mixture for finishing, then proceed in accordance with the instructions.

Step one. First, prime the previously cleaned surfaces (if possible, then in two layers, but the second layer should be applied only after the first one has completely dried).

step two. After that, determine how even the slope angles are. In case of deviations from the norm, be sure to take into account this moment when installing reinforcing corners. With the help of the latter, you can easily align corners that deviate slightly from the vertical.

Step Three. Next, using a level and a plumb line, set the perforated metal corners at the corners. Ideally, they should immediately be attached to the finishing putty (the latter can be purchased ready-made). Apply it, using a spatula, to the corners of the slopes - the mixture is necessary not only for fixing the corners, but also for leveling the slopes horizontally / vertically. Remove excess solution that has come through the perforation immediately using the same spatula. When everything is perfectly smooth, you can rest for a while - the putty should dry completely.

Step Four. In the case of uneven slopes, before installing the leveling corners, it is recommended to set the direction from the door jamb by fixing a plasterboard strip about 0.8-1 cm wide along it. To attach this material to the surface, use putty. If the putty you use is gypsum, it will not take very long to dry completely.

Step Five. The perforated corner and the edge of the drywall strip are in this case the points that you must connect with putty and level with the plaster mixture.

Step Six. We continue to finish the slopes for the entrance doors. When the elements that correct the walls are dry, spread the putty (according to the manufacturer's instructions) to end up with a paste-like mixture.

step seven. Using a trowel, throw the resulting mixture onto the wall, moving up from the floor. After throwing the right amount (about 100 centimeters high), level the putty using a short rule. As a kind of beacons, a metal corner and a previously fixed plasterboard strip will serve.

Step eight. Throw the mixture on the second section, level it, and then move all the way to the top in the same way.

Step nine. With puttying the upper surface of the opening, certain difficulties may arise. So, for applying putty there, you will have to use a wide spatula, and for leveling - all the same short rule. After that, putty the wall above the opening, then cover the top of the perforated corner with the mixture.

Step ten. Wait until the puttied slopes are completely dry. The drying time depends on the composition, as well as on the thickness of the leveling layer.

Step Eleven. When the layer dries, check how good the surface is. If there are minor defects, clean or chip them. After that, bring the slopes to the limit evenness, using the finishing putty for this.

Step twelve. At the end, when the top coat is dry, cover it with a primer.

The resulting slopes can be wallpapered, painted or, alternatively, finished with decorative plaster.

Option two. We use plasterboard for finishing

This material is simpler and easier to work with than the plaster described above. However, you still have to use the finishing putty - in this case it will serve as an adhesive for GKL sheets; although instead of it, it is better to give preference to special gypsum adhesives, which are designed to work with just this material.

In the case of limited space, drywall sheets are perfect option for finishing slopes. The algorithm of actions in this case should be as follows.

Step one. First of all, separately measure each of the slopes.

step two. Transfer the received numbers to the sheets of material, then, working on the markup, open the elements for subsequent fastening to the walls.

Step Three. Install drywall sheets from the bottom of the opening. First, apply several “hills” of glue on the first sheet, as in the image, then press the element firmly to the desired location and additionally fix it with pre-prepared supports.

Step Four. Similarly, finish the side slopes with drywall parts, not forgetting to check each of them for level. For fixing to the walls, you can use driven dowels, having previously made narrow through holes under them with a perforator.

Step Five. Just as in the case of using plaster, close the corners with iron corners, using the same putty for fixing.

Step Six. Lubricate all joints with putty, carefully align and, when it dries, clean it thoroughly so that the finished slopes for entrance doors looked most attractive.

step seven. To obtain a perfectly even surface, apply a millimeter layer of finishing putty mixture. So you will finally mask all the defects and holes for the dowels.

Step eight. When the mixture has completely hardened, you can sand the surfaces with fine sandpaper (if required) and, finally, proceed to decorative design. You can use for this, again, paint, decorative plaster or high-quality wallpaper.

Note! There is another way of fixing drywall - it is advisable in cases where, when leveling slopes, it is necessary to close a considerable thickness of the wall.

  • Fasten metal corners or wooden bars to the slope, thereby forming a crate in order to give the wall the desired direction. The main advantage of this method is that it will be possible to additionally lay heat-insulating material between the elements of the crate.
  • Close the crate with drywall sheets, using self-tapping screws for fixing. Everything else is not much different from the technology described above.

Option three. We use lining or panels

If you intend to use panels made of rigid materials in your work (this includes many types of lining, MDF, chipboard, etc.), then you should know that they are all attached using almost the same technology. The advantage of this method is that even the most serious irregularities can be hidden with such panels.

As for the specific algorithm of actions, in this case it will look something like this.

Step one. First, prime the slopes, mark the places where the bars or iron profiles will be attached. The step between them should be approximately 30-40 centimeters (if they are mounted across the slopes). In our example, a lining is used, mounted parallel to the box. If a transverse arrangement is required, fasten the crate along the jamb. If the surface is wide enough, you can use not 2, but 3-4 strips at once.

step two. The image shows another option - with the installation of lining parallel to the door leaf.

Step Three. You can lay heat-insulating material (polystyrene, mineral wool, etc.) between the lathing slats.

Step Four. Install the panels of the selected material on top of the finished batten.

Step Five. For installation of laminated / plastic lining, use the metal fasteners shown in the image.

Step Six. To fasten large panels, use self-tapping screws, sinking the latter by 0.15-0.2 centimeters. To close up the formed holes, you can use putty.

step seven. At the end, install decorative corners. They must match the color of the cladding. Glue corners on horizontal as well as outer vertical corners; finally, at the joints of the finishing material and the door frame itself.

Rules for creating vinyl slopes

Vinyl panels are rightfully considered one of the most modern materials that can be used for finishing slopes. They are sold in almost all specialized companies involved in the production and installation of this material. In the case of a non-standard form of slopes, the panels can be made to order, having previously measured the dimensions.

Finishing can imitate various natural materials, so in any case you will choose the most suitable option for yourself, regardless of the design of the door and the hallway itself.

Note! The main advantage of such panels is that they are quickly installed, and there is little debris left after completion of work. Yes, and this kind of finish looks extremely attractive, neat and stylish.

This material is fastened with a universal adhesive that can reliably connect materials of different properties (for example, brick and lining, concrete and wood, plaster and vinyl). In a word, everything that can be used in the course of finishing and construction works. Still, as an option, slopes for entrance doors can be finished with vinyl using polyurethane foam.

The adhesive should be applied to the inner surface of each panel, and then pressed against the slopes. In this case, no holes need to be drilled in the walls or cladding, which can also be attributed to undeniable advantages this technology.

Using laminate is a worthy alternative

Laminate is widely used as floor covering, it is easy to work with and comes in a variety of colors. Who does not know, laminate is an MDF panel covered with a special decorative layer. Why is this material so popular? This is because it has many important advantages.

  1. It is inexpensive and can be used for different surfaces, including for slopes.
  2. Some of its varieties are moisture resistant.
  3. The material looks attractive, and it goes well with other finishing materials.
  4. Laminate has excellent wear resistance. It is not erased for a long time, in addition, it can withstand not very strong blows.
  5. Finally, the material is produced different types, textures and colors. Therefore, you will definitely choose the most suitable option for yourself.

Note! The service life of slopes can reach 10 or even 15 years, which, you see, is not so short.

Sheathing slopes with laminate can be done in one of several possible ways. Let's get acquainted in more detail with each of them.

  1. For glue. In this case, liquid nails or similar formulations may be used. However, the surfaces must first be leveled (using plaster or plasterboard sheets).
  2. With the help of a framework. The most time-consuming method, which, nevertheless, allows you to get extremely even slopes without resorting to preparatory leveling of the walls. Also, this method makes it possible to lay a layer of thermal insulation material, which will help save heat in the apartment.
  3. For mounting foam. The simplest technology that does not require preliminary alignment. All defects will be eliminated after the mounting foam swells.

As for the laying process itself, it - regardless of the specific method chosen - should begin with surface preparation. In our example, the laminate will be attached to the adhesive. The algorithm of necessary actions is given below.

Step one. First fill all the gaps and apply a layer of plaster. Do all this on a plaster mesh. Later, when the plaster is completely dry, prime the slopes to provide additional protection.

step two. Here begins the most important stage of work, so approach the matter with the utmost responsibility. You need to mark up and cut the laminate. Start at the top, then move on to the sides. We recommend cutting the material with an electric jigsaw, although in the absence of one, a regular hacksaw may well be suitable.

Step Three. Before gluing, install mounting spacers - a kind of border, thanks to which the material will not move.

Step Four. Take the first lamella, put it on the upper slope, and then open the door - the latter should not catch it. Then apply foam to the inner surface of the laminate, press it against the slope and fix it with masking tape (you can remove the latter only after complete drying). Too much foam should not be applied, because an excessive amount of foam after swelling can lead to displacement of the element.

Step Five. Install the sidewalls in the same way, regularly using the building level.

Step Six. Having laid out all the slopes, wait for the mounting foam to dry completely and proceed to the final stage of work. Cut off excess foam, close the openings with plaster. But this is not the end yet - slopes for entrance doors looked really attractive, seal the openings with a corner of a suitable color.

That's all, now you know about the most popular ways to finish the door slope. We hope the article was really useful for you.

Good luck in your work and, according to tradition, warm winters to you!

Options for finishing the external and internal slopes of the front door

Having installed and admired the front door, it becomes clear that the work is not over yet. The next step will be the finishing of the slopes, which perform aesthetic and practical functions. For their arrangement, you can use different materials, adhere to different styles.

External slopes of the entrance door

Having installed the door, it is necessary to hermetically fill the joints between the door frame and the opening in the wall. The easiest way is to use mounting foam. After it dries, the protruding excess is removed and the tightness is checked.

Having closed the door, a lit lighter is carried along the perimeter of the opening - in places where the flame moves, it is necessary to re-foam.

Advice. Surely, blowing out will be eliminated by sealing the seams with adhesive cement mortar. It cannot be replaced with putty or plaster.

After the mortar or mounting foam has hardened, door trims can be fixed. They hide the opening from the eyes, protect door locks and burglary pins. We will tell you how to choose a reliable lock in a separate review. Cash must match the front door in design and color. Fasteners are made with special brackets.

In some cases, the front door is made with a certain recess in the wall - a full-fledged external slope is formed. It is customary to seal it with cement, having previously cleaned the surface of dust and dirt.

Finishing can be absolutely anything, but it must be combined with the door. If the latter goes into a heated entrance, you can use laminate or plastic. But the most optimal and cost-effective option is to paint the surfaces brought to zero.

Internal slopes of the entrance door

Starting to finish the slopes of the front door indoors, you need to choose the most suitable material. There are a lot of options on the market:

Wood is the classic and most popular of the materials. It can harmoniously fit into any interior, adding grace to it. But such surfaces under the influence of aggressive factors can quickly lose their appearance, requiring restoration work.

The cheapest and easiest way is to apply a layer of plaster. In the future, it can be painted in any of the colors you like. Over time, when the opportunity and desire arise, the slopes are easily covered with other, more interesting material.

In spite of wide application plastic for finishing window openings, door slopes are rarely closed to them. This method is used in cases where a PVC door is installed.

You can fix serious irregularities near the door with drywall. This method eliminates the need to apply numerous layers of dry mix.

Finishing slopes with wood or plastic

To complete the work you will need:

  • MDF or laminate, PVC panels
  • Mounting foam
  • Rule and bubble level
  • Wooden slats
  • fasteners
  • Tools

Advice. Most optimal solution- use MDF board. But it does not always fit in width into a thin opening. An alternative can be a conventional laminate.

The doorway is once again checked for sealing of the seams and the areas in which air leakage is observed are foamed. Then the excess foam is cut off, the surface is cleaned and covered with primers.

The next question to be solved is the shape of the slopes. Wooden panels can be placed perpendicular to the door or at a certain angle. The shape is determined by rails mounted on both sides. Making slopes with the letter “L”, the rail near the door should be wider, near the corner - thinner. Everyone chooses the proportions individually.

Having fixed the supporting rails to the wall with dowel-nails, the upper slope is first mounted, then the side ones. The panels can be put on special glue or screwed with screws, covering the holes with decorative caps. The corners are neatly hidden by decorative plastic corners.

Exactly the same principle is used for finishing slopes. PVC panels. The only difference is that they are planted exclusively on adhesives so that the surface remains aesthetic.

Finishing slopes with plastering

Plastering is the strongest and most durable finish. For work you will need:

  • Rule and bubble level
  • Sandpaper
  • Sand, cement
  • Putty mixes
  • Primer
  • Beacons
  • Master OK
  • masking tape

Objects and surfaces that can get dirty are covered with foil or covered with masking tape. First of all, guide beacons are set. They are planted on a thick solution of cement or gypsum, plastered on the wall. If there are large potholes in the wall, the solution will have to be kneaded more.

Advice. The wall is pre-coated with priming compounds to prevent the appearance of fungus on it and improve adhesion to the solution.

Having diluted a solution of sand and cement in a ratio of 4 to 1, all potholes are thrown. The first layer of plaster is applied. When the wall cools down, a reinforcing mesh is applied and work continues. Having sketched the mixture, the slope is aligned with the beacons by the rule.

When all surfaces are plastered and dry, a layer of finishing putty is applied. After it hardens, the surface is brought to zero with fine sandpaper, pasted over with wallpaper or painted.

Finishing the slope with drywall

  • Drywall
  • Adhesive mixture
  • Stationery knife
  • Level and rule
  • Putty
  • Metal corner

Drywall finishing is done in one of two ways: on wooden slats or on glue. The second option is used much more often.

First, the wall is primed to improve adhesion with glue and prevent fungus from appearing. Pieces of the required width are cut out of drywall. In total, three strips are required: two on the sides and one on top.

The next step is to mix the adhesive solution according to the instructions on the package. Having applied it to the back side of the cut strip, it is applied to the wall and leveled.

When the glue dries, the excess material that comes out is carefully cut off. The entire surface and corners are puttied and rubbed with fine sandpaper.

Finishing the slopes of the front door is a simple, but very responsible task. The chosen material for work is an individual decision. It is important that they harmoniously frame and decorate the doorway, giving completeness to the finish.

We make slopes for the front door: the choice of material and the installation procedure with your own hands

Before proceeding with the finishing of the slopes near the front door, it is necessary to solve two questions: what material should they be made of and how to organize the work? 1410 10/06/2019 4 min.

When the installation of a new door is completed, it does not yet have an attractive appearance. And the reason is that there are still gaps that lead to the development of drafts. Unprotected polyurethane foam quickly absorbs moisture. Thus, heat loss occurs in the room. All these problems can be avoided if you take care of the installation of slopes. The process of their installation is not particularly difficult, so everything can be done by hand.

Installation of door slopes on the front door

In order for all work to be carried out efficiently, it is necessary to follow the following sequence of actions:

  1. Prepare slopes, remove all staggering and protruding elements, stains and dirt.
  2. Treat the surface with a primer.
  3. Install beacons.
  4. Apply and level the first layer of plaster.
  5. When the mortar sets, then plaster the slope a second time. In this case, it will already be clean. If during the cladding process such a finishing material, like tiles or stone, then their installation is carried out directly at this stage. For these purposes, you will have to use a suitable glue.

If you decide to use plaster for finishing slopes, you must first prepare the following tools:

  • putty knife;
  • trowel;
  • rule;
  • level;
  • mixer;
  • painting net;
  • masking tape;
  • lighthouses;
  • metal painting corners;
  • plaster; and here is how the plaster on the foam occurs, it is indicated
  • final putty;
  • primer in liquid form;
  • sandpaper.

Plastering is necessary if the finishing work in the house has not yet been completed.

When all the tools have been prepared, then you should use the following procedure:

  1. Remove loose layers of old plaster. Apply primer.
  2. Install guide beacons using the building level for this. Fix them with a solution of cement and sand. At the junction of the slope with the wall surface, mount the paint corners according to the level.
  3. Stick on the entire masking tape. This will protect it from contamination. But how it is used can be seen in this article.
  4. Attach the oil mesh after the mortar on the beacons has set.
  5. Now you can start preparing putty. This must be done in accordance with the instructions. Patch potholes in advance with a solution, and then apply to the entire grid. Applying the rule, pull the solution over the beacons to form Smooth surface. Also pay attention to the corners. Cracks that have arisen after the mortar has hardened should be puttied with the same mortar, only slightly diluted.
  6. Apply a primer solution to the dried layer of plaster. At the end, level the surface with a final putty. but how it is used, you can see in the article at the link.
  7. Go over the slopes with sandpaper when they are completely dry.
  8. Apply water-based paint to the putty.

Plasterboard cladding

This finishing option should be attributed to the lightest. First you need to prepare mounting foam, a drywall sheet and a plastic corner. Further, the procedure is as follows:

  1. The first step is to measure the slopes. After that, take a GKL sheet and get three elements from it: top, for the left and right sides.
  2. Remove protruding layers of plaster from the slopes and apply water to it.
  3. Fill deep recesses with mounting foam, and then apply it to one of the snake elements.
  4. Attach and glue the slope obtained from drywall with foam. To check the verticality, you need to use the building level.
  5. In order for drywall to adhere tightly, it is necessary to press it against the foam immediately after its application, and then immediately remove it. After 7-8 minutes, the foam will set a little and take on a thick consistency. Now you can glue the slope again and finally. Similarly, it is worth doing with the rest of the blanks.

Plastic panels

Plastic panels can be used for facing slopes. To do this, follow the following procedure:

  1. Find out the dimensions of the doorway and its slopes. Then, from plastic, get panels of the obtained dimensions. For cutting it is worth using a regular knife. Then the cuts will be even.
  2. Attach the cut panels to the opening and check that they match in size.
  3. The first step is to install the side slopes. Using self-tapping screws, fix a special profile, and then mount wooden slats from the edge of the wall. At the same time, everything installed elements must be checked with a level. Panel fasteners should be carried out on rails using brackets.
  4. A plug is to be installed at the bottom of the opening. Facing material installed in the initial profile and on the sides. Similarly, the slopes are finished at the top of the opening.
  5. Finally, you need to process all seams and joints using silicone. This will ensure complete sealing. It's also worth knowing more about it. what exists
