The front wall of the house is either not made at all, or made in the form of an opening door. This is necessary for the convenience of the game. We suggest you choose what is right for you and get to work.

plywood, laminate

The option of making a dollhouse for girls from wood is one of the most popular. The undoubted advantages of such a house are its strength and durability. It is easy to decorate both from the outside and from inside. However, for making wooden house male help is required.

If the house is built with high quality, it will not be distinguished from the purchased one. You can make drawings for building such a house yourself, or you can use ready-made ones. You can attach wheels to such a house and then it will become mobile.

What will be needed:

  • Laminate or plywood, it is better to choose a thickness of at least 7 mm;
  • jigsaw;
  • glue - carpentry, PVA;
  • self-adhesive film, which we will paste over the floor in our house;
  • wallpaper, they are useful for pasting walls in rooms;
  • simple pencil;
  • roulette.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. We cut out the walls of the house from plywood sheets, according to the dimensions in the drawing.
  2. We mark where the windows and doors will be located, and cut them out.
  3. Using wood glue, we assemble the structure as shown in the figure. You can use small nails for the reliability of the design.
  4. Make a roof. Paste it with corrugated cardboard and paint it, imitating tiles.
  5. Glue finished house on a piece of plywood, larger in size than the floors in the house. This will give it more stability. On the plywood that remains on the sides of the house, you can make a lawn.
  6. Now we paste over the walls in the rooms with wallpaper, the floors with film.
  7. We arrange furniture.
  8. We decorate the interior with the help of textiles: curtains for windows, rugs, tablecloths for furniture.

From drywall

Many of us after repair have pieces of drywall that are no longer needed. Why not use them to please your little princess? From it you can make a wonderful house for dolls.

A drywall house has a lot of advantages, including: ease of working with it, its lightness. Even if you do not paint the walls of the house after assembly, they will still look neat thanks to its white color. A significant disadvantage of such a house is its fragility. It is worth a little pressure on any part of the house, as it will immediately break.

In order to make a drywall house, you can use the diagram above, or you can simply make cruciform partitions to save space in the nursery. These partitions will divide the rooms among themselves, external walls and there will be no roof.

From large sheets of drywall you can make a full-fledged beautiful house. Watch the master class in the next video.

Styrofoam

If you have sheets of packing foam lying around your house, you can build a house from them. For work you will need:

  • foam sheets;
  • glue gun;
  • toothpicks;
  • wooden rulers;
  • bamboo sticks;
  • corrugated cardboard;
  • wallpaper pieces;
  • acrylic paint;
  • foam sponge;
  • pieces of ceiling plinths;
  • necessary accessories for the interior: pieces of carpet, curtains, furniture and everything that your imagination is capable of.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. First you need to think about what your house will be like and make a drawing. To save space in the apartment, the house can be built in height.
  2. We cut the foam in accordance with the drawing. It is convenient to do this with a hot knife, so the foam does not crumble.
  3. Considering where you will windows and doors, you can make a staircase between floors. Cut out the necessary openings.
  4. Let's start building the house. W we break the cleaning pieces in half. We will need them to create a more durable structure. We glue the foam sheets with glue gun, having previously connected them with the help of halves of toothpicks.
  5. We use bamboo sticks to strengthen the floor and ceiling. from Chinese napkins. We glue the sticks to the foam sheets as beams. After that, the sheets intended for the floor-ceiling can be glued to the side walls.
  6. We glue the interfloor stairs separately. It can be made from foam or wooden rulers. We use toothpicks as a railing. After that, we glue the finished staircase.
  7. The roof can be glued with foam or corrugated cardboard. Tiles can be imitated by cutting cardboard into small pieces and gluing it, and then painting it.
  8. On the outer wall you can make a balcony. We glue it from polystyrene foam, we use bamboo sticks as railings
  9. Outside coloring the house acrylic paints with a regular sponge.
  10. We cover the walls of the rooms with wallpaper, we cover the floors with carpet. From ceiling plinth cut out skirting boards and window sills, and glue them. We create coziness with the help of curtains on the windows.
  11. We arrange furniture which can also be glued from foam, and we invite new tenants.

Home decoration can be very diverse. You can use a transparent plastic box, make printouts underwater world and put an aquarium in the house. You can print pictures, lay tablecloths on tables, add toys to dolls. Let your imagination run wild and you will get the most wonderful dollhouse for girls.

From a bookshelf / rack

You can make a great dollhouse out of a bookshelf or shelving unit. Making it is very simple, because you already have a ready-made base. To decorate the house, use cardboard, wallpaper, self-adhesive paper, and wrapping paper is also suitable.

Include your daughter in this creative process as well. She will be able to act as a designer for her dollhouse.

If the house is located permanently against the wall, then you can make the roof of the house with black electrical tape, gluing the contours. Glue the chimney in the same way. If necessary, rearrange the house to another place, the electrical tape can be safely peeled off without damaging the wallpaper in the room. You can buy ready-made furniture for dolls or show your imagination and make it yourself.

From an old locker or chest of drawers

Your daughter asks for a dollhouse, and an old chest of drawers is gathering dust in the garage? You can breathe a second life into old, already unnecessary furniture. Treat your child by making a dollhouse out of an old locker or chest of drawers . Such houses are very convenient for those whose children play with large or tall dolls.

First of all, you need to know the height of the dolls. This is necessary so that the dolls can be placed in full-length rooms. You may have to combine 2 shelves by removing unnecessary partitions. Work carefully, trying not to break the inner walls of the cabinet or chest of drawers. In place of the partitions that we removed, a void that we do not need will appear. It can be glued with thin slats that fit in size.

After waiting for the glue to dry completely, treat the walls of the chest of drawers with a thin layer of putty. After that, the chest of drawers must be sanded, then it will become even and smooth. Using a jigsaw, you can cut windows.

The final step will be the design of your house. The outside can be painted. You will most likely have to paint it in several layers in order to cover up the old color of the chest of drawers. The walls inside can be pasted over with wallpaper, colored, packaging or self-adhesive paper. And you can also just paint them. We arrange furniture, hang pictures and mirrors on the walls, curtains, spread carpets and invite dolls to housewarming. Now the dolls in your daughter's room will always be tidied up!

From cardboard

Budget option Making the dollhouse is corrugated cardboard. With it, you can create a wonderful toy that will delight your girl for a long time.

We will need:

  • corrugated cardboard for the frame of the house;
  • decorative cardboard for decorating a house;
  • detail templates that will depend on the size of your future house; sweep;
  • stationery: pencil, ruler, eraser, scissors;
  • knife, paints, brushes, felt-tip pens;
  • glue gun;
  • colored, packaging and self-adhesive paper;
  • the cloth;
  • decorative elements - beads, rhinestones, stones, artificial flowers.

Let's start making a house:

  1. If you have a large sheet of corrugated cardboard, then you can apply a scan on it. Choose the dimensions based on the size of the house. If there are no large sheets, then each part must be cut out separately. The front wall does not need to be done.
  1. In order to make it convenient to bend the cardboard, it is necessary to make a groove at the place of the fold by drawing a ruler along it. If all the details are cut out, glue them at the joints of the cardboard.
  2. Cut and glue interior partitions. In such a house, they are simply necessary. They will perform a supporting function.

The structure is assembled. You can start decorating.

Inside the walls it is better to paste over with decorative paper or cloth. So you hide the seams in the places of gluing. Outside, the walls can be decorated to your taste: paint, paste over. Decorate your home with beads, rhinestones, pebbles or other items of your choice. Pay attention to the fact that the decor elements hold well on the cardboard, otherwise the house will lose its attractiveness during the games.

Arrange the furniture and invite the child to play.

Out of the boxes

Very easy to make dollhouse out of boxes. For him, you will need to choose the right size boxes. The size will depend on the height of the dolls for which this house is made. The number of boxes will depend on the number of rooms you are going to make. One box, one room. Such a house can be made multi-storey by gluing the boxes one on top of the other. This will save space in the room.

It is necessary to fasten the boxes together so that its top is on its side, opening the view inner space rooms. It can be done different ways: using a stapler, glue, double-sided tape. Cut out windows. We decorate the house according to your taste. We furnish the furniture and delight the girl with a new toy, for which you spent a minimum of money and effort.

Watch the following master class, which shows in detail the process of making a beautiful dollhouse out of a box.

A great box house is easy to make! See the following videos for more details.

From document folders

If there is very little space in the children's room, you can make a folding dollhouse.

For such a house, we need 4 folders for documents. We glue each folder inside with beautiful paper - this will be wallpaper for the walls. Decorate the clip of the folder with a cloth, making a kind of curtain out of it. Print out interior items on the printer and stick on the walls. The house is ready. It remains to open the folders and put them vertically. Add the necessary furniture.

Slabs glued from several layers of veneer are used not only in furniture production but also in construction. At the same time, you can even make a plywood doll house with your own hands, delighting not only your little daughter, but also her mother. After all, working with plywood is just as easy, even if the hand has not yet got used to wood tools.

Plywood house for children

Ready-made houses for dolls either cost sky-high money, or are too poor quality and unreliable for active children's games. But with the help of imagination and a minimal set of tools for working with wood, you can create a fairy-tale castle by spending a minimum of money on it.

Preparing to create a house from plywood with your own hands

The first thing you need to decide is the size of the house. The ceilings in the rooms should be high enough so that the girl's favorite doll fits in full height and there is still some room left. After all, otherwise the game will no longer be so interesting if the toys have to be literally squeezed into place. It is also worthwhile to foresee the space for toy furniture in advance - a crib, a table with chairs or kitchen set should also fit comfortably.

By measuring the children's toys and the children's room, you can roughly imagine the size of the future house. If a girl plays with small figures up to 20 cm high, the house can even be made three-story, but for Barbie dolls it is better not to build buildings higher than two floors. Otherwise, the baby simply will not reach the top! If the size of the nursery allows, it is better to make a low but wide house with large quantity rooms - and it's interesting to play, and it's not scary that the child will climb to the top.

When the overall dimensions are approximately clear, a drawing should be drawn. For such a simple structure, a freehand drawing on a piece of paper in a box is enough.

But you should not neglect the drawings - after all, after cutting a sheet of plywood, nothing can be corrected with a very large difference in the dimensions of the parts.

To create a fabulous house you will need:

  • plywood sheets - 9 or 12 mm thick;
  • jigsaw and drill with a drill for wood;
  • pencil and ruler-triangle;
  • small cloves and a hammer;
  • plastic corners for shelves (optional, to increase the reliability of the design);
  • wood glue;
  • decorative paint;
  • paint brushes;
  • autonomous LED lamps.

After the drawing is drawn, and all materials are purchased, you can start cutting plywood:

  1. The dimensions of the parts are transferred to the plywood with a pencil. The correctness of the angles is checked with a triangle ruler - all right angles must be exactly 90 degrees, otherwise the house cannot be assembled.
  2. The details of the house are cut with an electric jigsaw. To work with plywood, a knife with a fine tooth is used so that there are no chips left. The work is very painstaking - you need to cut exactly along the lines so that the parts fit exactly together.
  3. After cutting, the ends of the products are well sanded - after all, no one wants the little princess to drive a splinter into her finger. When choosing plywood, it is also worth paying attention to whether both sides of it are sanded. Indeed, otherwise you will have to grind it yourself, which will complicate the process of building a house.
  4. Openings are cut in the walls for windows and doors. To do this, holes are drilled in the corners with a drill, sufficient for the passage of a jigsaw knife. And straight cuts are already made with a jigsaw. You can make it as rectangular openings, which will then be closed with hinged shutters, or make fixed windows by carefully cutting out four squares.

When the details are ready, you can proceed directly to the assembly of the doll house.

Assembling a house for dolls

The process itself is quite simple, although it requires compliance with some rules:

  1. Since plywood is a multilayer material, it is not recommended to screw self-tapping screws into the ends of the parts, because they can be cut open. Therefore, all parts are assembled on carpentry glue. To more securely fix the assembly, you can use thin carnations or furniture plastic corners. The latter will spoil the overall impression of the house, so they will need to be decorated for interior elements.
  2. When the assembly is completed, you should once again check the edges and surface for the absence of skidding and go over with sandpaper again.
  3. For painting the house, you should choose the most environmentally friendly paints. For example, acrylic enamels for children's institutions. And to diversify color scheme, tinting pastes are perfect - with their help you can make both bright and pastel shades.
  4. The more fun the house is decorated, the more children like it. But at the same time, it is worth choosing its color scheme so that it fits the interior of the room. Then all family members will be happy!

To add realism to the house, it is desirable to electrify it. And then it will be possible to turn on the light in its individual rooms, adding variety to the games, and even use the dollhouse as a night light. If there are no wiring skills, stand-alone battery-powered LED lamps will come to the rescue. Thank goodness they are now huge selection both in color and size.

And they are attached with double sided tape.

And so that there is always order in the nursery, outside the house can be closed with doors imitating a facade wall with windows. And then the house closed version turns into an element of decor, while there is no need to feverishly clean everything if guests suddenly appeared.

Plywood house for adults

Construction plywood can also be used as sheathing frame house. Lightweight and durable material allows you not to fill in an expensive buried foundation. In this case, you can get by with simple wall cladding with plywood sheets, having originally beaten such a finish.

Foundation and frame of a light house

For a small one-story frame house is enough column foundation. If the soil is non-porous, the depth of the foundation can be 30-50 cm; on heaving soil, the pillars are dug 15-20 cm below the freezing level (about 150-200 cm).

The height of the grillage (pillar binding) above ground level depends on the personal preferences of the owners. So, you can pour a concrete grillage directly on the ground (for a flat area) or raise it up to 1 m above the ground (for often flooded areas).

The distance between the pillars depends on the load on the foundation. But general rules are the same for any home:

  • the minimum economically justified distance is 1 m;
  • maximum safe distance - 2 m;
  • in places of increased load (where it is planned to install a boiler or a large bathroom), additional supports must be provided;
  • poles must be installed at intersections bearing walls, regardless of the distance to the adjacent pole.

It is important not to forget to lay two layers waterproofing material to stop the capillary rise of moisture from the foundation pillars to the strapping tree.

The erection of the frame begins with the corner posts, which are fixed with jibs. After that, intermediate racks are placed and the entire frame is connected with the bars of the upper trim.

After that, you can add transverse lintels of window and door openings, as well as short additional racks.

Sheathing with plywood walls and subfloor

Sheathing walls and floors with plywood is extremely simple. To do this, you will need a pneumatic nail gun or a screwdriver for self-tapping screws and a jigsaw or hand saw with a fine tooth. Armed with sheets, you can proceed:

The process of installing a plywood subfloor is exactly the same. After waterproofing and insulation are laid between the floor joists, plywood sheets can be laid.

The special charm of plywood is in its woody texture. Therefore, if desired, you can seal the joints between the sheets with carpentry putty, varnish the entire floor and not bother with laying the laminate.

Solid plywood frame

A solid crate is required for soft tiles, as well as for roofs with a slight slope and any kind of roof. Her device is also not complicated:

Sheathing the frame of the house with plywood is so difficult! So it’s worth trying your hand at working with wood, and you can start practicing from the house on the playground.

Making a dollhouse with your own hands is an exciting activity for the whole family, where children, by watching and helping, gain skills in working with tools, planning, decorating, and developing a sense of harmony. Adults can fully realize their creative potential, involve the whole family in team work.

Impressions from the process and the result will remain in memory for a long time even from the transformation of an ordinary box.

Features of the choice of material

The choice of materials for building a house with your own hands should match the financial capabilities, the amount of free time and the level of skill.

  • Paper. Scrapbooking paper is suitable for these purposes: it is dense, does not fade, has wide selection textures and prints. Ready-made schemes can be printed on ordinary office paper.
  • Cardboard. Ideal Options will become bookbinding, beer, corrugated three-layer. The latter is more difficult to cut, but more affordable (for example, household appliances or weight candies are usually packed in it). The rigidity of the cardboard allows you to add more floors to the project.
  • boxes. According to their characteristics do not differ from the previous material. For work, one large or several medium, necessarily whole boxes are suitable.
  • Plywood. It is distinguished by its availability, ease of processing, the ability to implement complex projects, and its price-quality ratio. At the same time, it requires certain skills in working with sawing tools, precise design. The recommended plywood thickness is at least 6-7 mm. Be sure to pay attention to the E0 marking - its presence confirms the low content of formaldehyde.
  • Wood. The material is more expensive and difficult to work with, requiring an expensive tool. Suitable for the implementation of multifunctional shelving houses of large sizes.

Comparative characteristics of materials:

Material Price Durability Complexity
paper house Very cheap Low Very easy
cardboard house Cheap low Easy but requires patience
House of boxes Very cheap low Very easy
Plywood house moderately expensive High Medium difficulty, requires skill to work with the instrument
wooden house More expensive than average, but cheaper than purchased Very high Difficult, desirable sawing on professional equipment

Drawings and dimensions of a paper house

The dimensions of the paper house are limited only by the size and density of the material used. From thin paper, large models will not hold their shape. In the case when the material is dense, but of a small format, the house is assembled from separate parts.

The peculiarity of the drawing of a paper house is that it is made up of a single canvas.

At the joints of the walls, as well as on the slopes of the roof, additional narrow strips are provided for applying glue or double-sided tape. In the finished printouts, the houses are drawn in detail, they only need to be cut and glued. Do-it-yourself sketching leaves room for creativity and layering when decorating.

Paper house option:

  • 4 open rooms separated by two sheets of paper.
  • The basic drawing consists of 2 rectangular parts with transverse slots in the middle. The depth of the cuts is up to half the width of the elements.
  • The dimensions of the blanks correspond to the height and double the length of future rooms.

House made of paper for dolls

For work you will need a drawing, scissors and glue.

With their help you need:

  1. Carefully cut the workpiece along the contour.
  2. Bend along the dotted lines, giving the model volume.
  3. Apply glue to the special valves provided in the drawing.
  4. Glue the house.
  5. Decorate with textured printed paper.

Such models do not imply interior decoration and act as a decoration around which the game takes place.

The disadvantage of the model is that it can be conditionally called a dollhouse, since the whole structure is very schematic. But in such a house there is a play space. The child has the opportunity to create an interior in each room and freely move the doll inside. At the same time, the design takes up little space and can be easily disassembled or folded for storage.

The work comes down to two steps:

  1. Cut out both elements, taking into account windows, doors and center slots.
  2. Connect the parts with cuts towards.

Next, you should decorate each room as you wish. Based on this drawing, you can create more complex models. For example, if you lengthen one of the elements and make 2 slots instead of 1, inserting one base part into each of which, you get a 6-room house.

Drawings of a cardboard house

You can outline the details immediately on cardboard, but it is much more convenient to have the entire list of necessary elements, their number and size before your eyes.

A schematic representation of the constituent parts of the house is enough, the main thing is to take into account all of them:

  • Side wall(2 pcs.): A rectangle, the height of which is equal to the uppermost floor slab, and the width is equal to the desired depth of the rooms.
  • Back wall(1 pc.): A rectangle with a width equal to the length of the house and the same height as the side walls.
  • Gable(2 pcs.): An isosceles right triangle whose hypotenuse is equal to the width of the side wall.
  • Floor of the 1st floor(1 piece): a rectangle with a height equal to the width of the side walls and a length equal to the width of the back wall.
  • Interfloor overlap(1 pc.): the same size floor detail, but with a cut-out stairwell.
  • Room divider(1 pc.): A U-shaped figure with a width equal to the depth of the house and a height corresponding to the height of one floor.
  • Roof(1 piece): a large rectangle, the height of which is slightly more than the sum of 2 legs of the pediment, and the length is slightly greater than the length of the house.

With a large piece of cardboard, the number of individual elements can be reduced, combining the side walls, gables, floor of the 1st floor and the back wall into one part in the drawing. Doorways will not be needed if the interior partitions are made a third narrower than the width of the house.

Connecting rooms

It is more convenient to connect the walls with a wide masking tape. It does not damage the cardboard when removed, does not make work untidy and does not interfere with decoration. Glue Moment Crystal will help fix the cardboard walls relative to each other: it sets quickly and leaves no marks.

To connect the walls to each other, you should:

  1. Smear the cut of the side wall with glue and press it tightly against the edge of the back wall, trying to maintain an angle of 90 degrees.
  2. Paste the resulting corner with masking tape from the outside and inside, so that the middle of the adhesive tape falls on the junction of the walls.
  3. Similarly, attach the second side wall, forming a U-shaped frame of the future house.
  4. Smear the cut of the floor details with glue from three sides, press it to the edges of the walls, while adjusting the inner corners of the house in parallel.
  5. Each joint of the floor and wall is reinforced with adhesive tape from the outside and inside.
  6. Coat with glue those sections of the inner wall that will be attached to the floor and back of the house.
  7. Press the part strictly perpendicular to the floor and parallel to the side walls of the house (check the distance between the walls from below and above with a ruler, correct if necessary).
  8. Paste the formed corners on both sides of the partition with masking tape.

Pasting the corners on both sides will make the structure stronger, will fix the shape more rigidly. For a tighter fit of the tape to the surface, it is recommended to iron the gluing points with the edge of a ruler or a plastic card with force.

Connecting ceilings to floors

The ceiling of one floor is the floor for the next. To prevent peeling and sagging, the interfloor overlap is attached to a support.

  1. For accuracy, it is recommended to draw a line along the perimeter of the frame at the level of the upper borders internal walls parallel to the floor.
  2. Cut out long strips of cardboard with a width of no more than 1 cm. If the material is not thick enough, the strips can be cut twice as much and glued together.
  3. Glue the resulting parts with the wide side around the perimeter of the house, combining with the control line. You should get a uniform ledge, encircling the outer walls from the inside.
  4. Lubricate with glue the sections of all the parts on which the ceiling will lie, as well as the sections of the ceiling itself.
  5. Lay the ceiling detail, observing the perpendicularity of the inner walls.
  6. Glue the joints of the walls and floor with masking tape top floor, making sure that the adhesive tape lays down to the very corner, without deforming it.

DIY dollhouse out of the box

It is easier and faster to build a dollhouse from boxes with your own hands than from separate sheets of cardboard.

To work, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • cardboard box from major household appliances;
  • marker;
  • scissors, clerical knife;
  • masking tape, glue;
  • colored paper, braid, pieces of fabric - everything that can be useful in decorating a finished house.

Before starting work, you need to make sure that there are no defects on the cardboard, cut off the excess tape and remove the staples from the stapler.

  1. Mark the middle on the box with a marker. It is convenient to take the line connecting the folding parts of the box as a guideline.
  2. Cut along the line into 2 equal parts. One half will serve as the basis for the house.
  3. One of the folding parts will become the floor of the first floor. It should be fastened to the side walls of the box with adhesive tape.
  4. At the opposite hinged cover, cut off the corners, forming a roof gable
  5. At this stage, until additional volumetric parts are glued, it is more convenient to cut through windows and doors. First you need to mark the future location with a marker floors. This will allow you to choose the correct location of the windows. It is more convenient to cut them with a clerical knife. Cut the front door on one of the side walls of the house.
  6. Cut off both opening parts from the second half of the box. They will serve as floors for the second floor and attic. For each part, make an opening for stairs: cut off the upper left part in the form of a small square or rectangle.
  7. Using adhesive tape, attach the ceilings along the lines outlined earlier. Openings for stairs should be in opposite, inner corners of the house.
  8. Cut out the roof slopes from the side walls of the remaining part of the box. Glue them with adhesive tape to the pediment and walls. Cover the top corner of the roof with duct tape.
  9. Attach cardboard ladders to the openings in the floor.

A dollhouse made of boxes can be furnished with hand-made furniture

The construction of the dollhouse out of the box is completed. It remains to decorate and arrange furniture.

Features of working with plywood

Doll houses made of plywood are lightweight, environmentally friendly, relatively low cost. But, unlike houses made of boxes, plywood is stronger withstand heavy loads and last longer. When choosing this material, it is necessary to take into account the features of its processing.

  • The tool for cutting parts must be very sharp and selected in accordance with the thickness of the sheet: up to 1.5 mm - can be cut with a knife, 1.5-6 mm - with a manual jigsaw, over 6 mm - with an electric jigsaw.
  • It is desirable to saw the sheet along the fibers. In the case of a transverse direction, it is recommended to make several cuts along the entire length of the future cut, which will reduce the likelihood of cracks and chips.
  • Finished parts should be carefully processed with sandpaper.
  • It is better to connect parts with wood glue. The connection will be stronger if the fibers of the surfaces to be glued have one direction.
  • For nails and screws, it is necessary to pre-drill holes, and lay washers under the caps.

Compliance with these rules will facilitate the work and insure against excessive material consumption.

Necessary tools and materials

To make a plywood dollhouse is within the power of every person who has minimal skills in working with a tool, desire and patience.

To build a house, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • plywood 6-7 mm thick;
  • narrow wooden rail;
  • small carnations or a construction stapler;
  • electric jigsaw (can be replaced with a manual one);
  • drill with a thin drill;
  • sandpaper for processing the edges of parts;
  • joiner's glue;
  • mounting tape;
  • a simple pencil and tape measure;
  • decor for the decoration of the finished house.

The amount of material is calculated according to the drawing and depends on the size of the project.

For example, a small tabletop house will require 4-6 basic parts, while a floor-standing multi-storey house can use 4-6 sheets of plywood. For an accurate calculation, the finished sketch is disassembled into its components, and for each element a detailed drawing.

After the full layout of the parts on paper, the calculation is made total area required material.

Drawings for a plywood house

A do-it-yourself doll house from boxes can serve as a model for creating a drawing yourself. A visual model, no matter how complex it may be, will allow you to assess the scale of the idea, the actual dimensions of the product, identify the features of the main details and possible weak spots designs.

The plot of creating a plywood dollhouse:

For the most a simple house with a shed roof, you will need drawings of the basic elements.

  1. Side walls with an opening for the front door. The difference in the height of the walls will set the angle of the roof.
  2. The back wall, taking into account the pediment. The height differences on opposite sides must match the side details.
  3. shed roof.
  4. The base should extend beyond the house for better stability.
  5. Interfloor ceilings with stairwells, which are located in opposite corners so that they are not under the stairs leading to the floor above.
  6. Interior partitions with arched doorways.

Window openings are located on the rear wall, side elements and roof according to the sketch. Optionally, you can add a front opening cover. In this case, it is more expedient to place windows on it. The dimensions of the details depend on the available space where the house will stand from individual wishes.

The height of the floors should be comfortable for the game - this is 40-50 cm.

The uppermost ceiling (attic or attic) is recommended to be installed no higher than the level of the child's eyes. Too deep rooms are not comfortable for playing, especially on the extreme floors. Under the hinged roof, you can place an attic box hidden from the eyes, Where will doll clothes be stored?

Plywood house step by step instructions

A do-it-yourself doll house from boxes can be assembled in a couple of hours without a preliminary drawing, unlike plywood, where accuracy and accuracy are very important, which take time. Careful cross-checking of all dimensions will facilitate fitting and assembly of elements.

  1. Carefully and accurately transfer the image of the elements onto a sheet of plywood using a template and a pencil.
  2. With the help of an electric jigsaw, sawing parts will turn out faster and better.
  3. For sawing window openings make auxiliary holes with a narrow drill drill. Cut along the contour of the window and door.
  4. All sections of each element must be sanded to avoid splinters and scratches.
  5. On the prepared parts, mark with a simple pencil the location of the interfloor ceilings and internal partitions.
  6. It is more convenient to start the assembly by gluing the outer walls, reinforcing the outer corners with mounting tape.
  7. Glue the internal elements according to the markup.
  8. Connect both blanks. For more reliable fastening of ceilings, it is recommended to attach ceiling moldings from a rail or narrow strips of plywood around the perimeter of each room.
  9. Glue the roof slope to the gable and side walls.
  10. Glue the finished house to the base.
  11. Strengthen all joints of parts with mounting tape. Leave the house for a day for the glue to dry completely.
  12. For the decoration of the facade, as one of the options, acrylic paint on wood is used.
  13. When decorating the interior are selected available materials that do not create heavy loads: paper, fabrics, pieces of fur.
  14. For the manufacture of stairs, you will need rectangular pieces of plywood with a width equal to the openings prepared in the floors. The steps are made from sliced narrow slats with a triangular section, sawn diagonally into thin wooden blocks or strips of corrugated cardboard.

Stairs are installed after internal finishing works so as not to create hard-to-reach areas.

Wooden house master class

A do-it-yourself dollhouse made of boxes or plywood has one significant drawback: structural fragility. Large models that combine the functions of a chest of drawers or shelving require reliable fastenings and are made of wood.

At the time of buying sheet material it makes sense to immediately order cutting parts.

This will reduce labor costs and compensate for the absence of an expensive tool. The cut line, made on professional equipment, is more accurate and even, which will greatly facilitate further processing of the tree. But, even in this case, the process of making a house remains quite difficult for inexperienced craftsmen.

You can simplify the task by using the old wooden furniture as a finished base.

For work, you need to prepare materials and tools according to the list:

  • wooden shelving.
  • Wood putty.
  • Plywood sheet 20-25 mm thick.
  • Fiberboard sheet for interior partitions and the back wall of the house.
  • Drill driver, set of drills and screws.
  • Wood glue, masking tape, liquid nails
  • Sandpaper.
  • Primer and white acrylic paint, orange and brown universal colors, lacquer.
  • Decor materials.
  • Scissors, pencil, ruler, tape measure.
  • Thick cardboard.
  • Brush and roller.
  • Construction stapler or small nails and hammer.
  • Manual jigsaw.

The list may vary slightly, depending on the condition of the furniture being converted and the choice of finishes.

Buying almost anything now is not a problem. But the beauty of making a plywood dollhouse with your own hands is that a child can also be involved in this process. It is advisable to use plywood as the starting material - the durability of the structure, its remarkable appearance guaranteed at a relatively low cost. Yes, and cutting sheets, processing fragments will not cause difficulties; just a simple household tool is enough.

What is a dollhouse? The banal answer that this is a spacious box that stores your favorite toy and its outfits is unlikely to be correct. You can make with your own hands various options houses that differ in their configuration (vertical, horizontal), the complexity of the layout (several levels-floors, with many compartments-rooms). External design- This is a completely separate conversation. If you “turn on” the fantasy, then it will be quite possible to get by with what is at hand. In addition to glue and colored paper, in any home there is always something left after the next repair - pieces of wallpaper, film, fabric, and so on.

What plywood to use? About what to make a dollhouse out of it - optimal solution, partially said. It should only be noted that he is going for a child's toy. It is the strength of the structure itself and its "environmental cleanliness" that should be the main criteria that you need to focus on when choosing products.

One of the tasks that is solved in the process of making something with your own hands is reasonable savings. Consequently, there are practically no options for which plywood to give preference to - it is inexpensive, resistant to moisture and “environmentally friendly”. These criteria are fully met. By the way, they are often confused with FSF products, since it is difficult to distinguish these plywood outwardly even for a specialist.

  • When choosing plywood, you need to pay attention to its marking. The safest product is the one with the letter E0 in the designation. There is a minimum of formaldehyde in such sheets, and they are the most suitable for making a dollhouse.
  • The optimal plywood thickness is 5 mm. With this choice, light weight, structural strength and the convenience of strengthening it with carnations are well combined.

Variants of schemes with dimensions

The linear parameters of the house depend on which doll it is made for (and maybe for several) and where it will be installed. Therefore, it is more correct to familiarize yourself with the photos and drawings available, for example, on the Internet, and on the basis of this, inspired by your own ideas, draw up your own, original scheme that is most suitable for local conditions.

Features of making a dollhouse

Any dad can cut plywood into fragments of certain dimensions, configurations and connect them together according to the developed scheme. For this process, no step by step instructions not required. But there are a number of nuances in working with FC, which House master should know.

To avoid a "production" error (and errors are inevitable even during measurements), the same type of house parts should be made according to the following scheme. First, one part, and then make sure that it meets the required dimensions. And only then, using the workpiece as a template, cut and process the rest. Otherwise, after assembly, it will turn out (more than likely) that the house will turn out to be somewhat skewed, and something will have to be redone.

Cutting plywood is best done with an electric jigsaw. FROM hand tool problems will arise - an uneven cut (not along a line, especially if it is curly), “ragged” ends of parts, partial peeling of veneer in the working area.

Considering the relatively small thickness of plywood, the joints practiced for solid wood blanks (saws, tenon-groove) are unacceptable. Therefore, only by gluing, followed by fixation at individual points with small carnations. In terms of safety for the health of the child, it is better to use the casein composition. Such joiner's adhesives are most often used in modeling, making furniture with your own hands, and it is quite simple to buy a dry mix and prepare a solution yourself. .

Both at the stage of assembling the dollhouse, and after its manufacture, it is necessary to carefully process all the edges of the parts. Even if no defects are found, it is worth going through the “skin” once again. Microscopic fractions, visually and invisible - potential splinters. Do not forget about the gentle children's palms!

Dads should take into account that girls (as well as all women) have their own secrets. Therefore, drawers or boxes with doors in which you can hide something should be provided at the bottom of the dollhouse or on the side. Mini-hinges are suitable for fastening the sashes (it’s easy to pick up the right sizes at any furniture store).

If the dimensions of the dollhouse are significant, then it is more expedient to first mount the frame from bars of a small section, and then sheathe it with pieces of plywood.

When drawing up a diagram, it is worth considering that it is planned to assemble not just a box for storing toys. Even the smallest house will need some kind of internal filling. What it will be - a mini-table, a bed - is another matter. But already at the design stage, it is necessary to provide for possible options and choose sizes so that the rooms are spacious enough.

Advice. When deciding how to decorate a dollhouse, one should not forget that here, when choosing materials, one should take into account their component composition. Certain types of stains, oils, paints, varnishes contain toxic substances.

If you really get excited about the idea, carefully plan everything and prepare in advance, then you can make a dollhouse with your own hands in just a few hours. Even half a day off is enough for the child to enjoy the home for his toy for a long time.

Quick article navigation

We are convinced that only home-made can be better than a purchased dollhouse. After all, it is very interesting to “build” and decorate it to your liking for both parents and children. Moreover, everyone can make a house for dolls with their own hands, this will require only a few tools, simple materials and creative inspiration.

Master class 1. How to build a house in half an hour from a cardboard box

A cardboard dollhouse is good because it is done quickly and from improvised materials. It can be very beautifully designed and periodically completed - add new rooms, floors and entire buildings.

Materials and tools:

  1. A large cardboard box that will hold one to three floors for dolls 25-30 cm tall (Barbie, Monster High, Bratz, Winx, etc.).
  2. Scissors and cutter.
  3. Adhesive tape in a contrasting color (does not include painting) or masking tape(if in the future you want to paint the house). In this master class, bright green tape is used, and the house itself is not painted.
  4. White paint.
  5. Decorating materials (optional): scraps of wallpaper, wrapping paper, paint, brushes, etc.

Step 1. First, cut the box in half and cut off the top flaps from both halves.

Step 2. We put the resulting pieces of cardboard into action: cut out the triangular gable of the roof from one part, and make a small hole in the other - this will be the second floor with access to the stairs. Next, glue the parts into place with tape and / or glue.

Step 3. From the unnecessary part of the box, cut out the slopes for the roof and another floor for the attic, and then glue the parts onto the adhesive tape. Do not forget to cut a hole for the stairs in the attic floor.

Step 4. Now we cut out the windows with a clerical knife and front door on the first floor, having previously drawn the markup. Then we cut out stairs from the remnants of cardboard and glue them to the floors.

Step 5. Hooray! The frame of the house is ready, now you can proceed to the "finishing". In this master class, all the details from the tiles on the roof to the steps of the stairs were drawn with a white marker.

As soon as the "repair" in the house is over, you can start creating furniture.

You can come up with your own own design at home - paint the house and the roof from the outside, draw window frames, paste over the walls with “wallpaper” made of fabric or scrapbooking paper and finish the floor with linoleum or laminate. In the next selection of photos, you can get ideas for decorating a doll house miniature and cardboard furniture.

And here is an example of a cardboard house for dolls, upholstered in fabric, or rather, scraps of old dresses and pillowcases.

And finally, we offer you to watch a video review of a dollhouse for Monster High dolls, made by hand from several large boxes.

Master class 2. How to make a doll house from a bookshelf or rack

Do you want to make a stronger house without fiddling with blueprints and a jigsaw? Then use a small shelving unit or, say, an old bookcase as a base. With the help of the simplest steps, you can turn an ordinary piece of furniture into a wonderful house for dolls.

  • Best for "construction" is a cabinet with a depth (25-30 cm), which has a back wall. So, for example, in this master class, Ikea's Billy shelving unit is 30 cm deep and 106 cm high (pictured right). In such a house, you can equip three floors, quite suitable for 25-centimeter Barbies or Monster High. The price of Billy's rack is 2000 rubles.

Materials and tools for reworking the frame:

  1. Cabinet, chest of drawers or shelving;
  2. Plywood, MDF or boards 25mm thick, 30cm wide and at least 120cm long (these are measurements for Billy's closet, but you can take shorter or longer/wider boards depending on your closet dimensions);
  3. hardboard sheet, wall panel PVC or MDF (for the manufacture / replacement of the back wall and the manufacture of partitions in rooms);
  4. Bar 5x5x20cm (a pipe will be made from it);
  5. Several small photo frames that will become trim for windows;
  6. Decorative molding of small width (polyurethane can be used);
  7. Screws and screwdriver;
  8. Carpentry glue or liquid nails;
  9. Drill and drill.

Decoration materials:

  1. Wood putty (optional, but desirable for masking fasteners and joints);
  2. Primer (optional, but desirable for better paint durability);
  3. Acrylic paints of desired colors;
  4. masking tape;
  5. Brushes and / or spray gun;
  6. Scissors;
  7. Materials for lining the walls of rooms (paper for scrapbooking is best);
  8. Popsicle sticks to create a lattice fence;
  9. Roof tiles material.

Step 1. Painting the rack

This step is optional if you are satisfied with the color of the selected shelving or cabinet. For example, white or plain colored furniture will look great even without painting.

  • If the cabinet is old or has a too “furniture” look, then it definitely needs to be repainted. To do this, we act according to the following scheme: sanding and grinding - primer (until dry) - a layer of paint (until dry) - a second layer of paint (until dry) - a layer of matte varnish.

In this master class, the dollhouse will not only be painted, but also decorated with brickwork. If you like this decor idea, then prepare the following accessories:

  • Cellulose sponge;
  • Gray paint;
  • Acrylic paint (our instructions use a mixture of two paints - the colors of red brick and chocolate).

So, first we paint the entire rack with gray paint. As soon as the last coat of paint dries, we begin to create brickwork. To do this, we cut out a rectangle about 3.5 × 8 cm in size from a sponge, which will become a template for painting.

Pour the paint into the container, soak the sponge in it and, starting from the bottom of the cabinet, print the bricks - first one row, then the second row in a checkerboard pattern. Do not forget to maintain indents between bricks of about 5 mm. Paint about 1/3 of the house this way.

Step 2. Making windows

This step is also optional, but if you want to create a realistic miniature of the house, then it's better not to skip it. In order to cut windows, you first need to measure the window "frames" (if any) and draw markings on the cabinet walls from the outside.

Once the markings of all windows are ready, you can start cutting. To do this, use a drill to make holes in the corners of the markup inside the border to create a starting point for the jigsaw blade. To make the edges of the windows look neater from the inside, on the inside of the cabinet, along the marking contour, you need to glue masking tape. In the photo below you can see the process of work.

To give the windows a more finished look, putty and paint the "window niches", remove the tape, and glue the frames on the outside of the house.

Step 3. Mounting and decorating the roof

In order to make a roof, you need to cut 2 boards from plywood (or other lumber) 30 cm wide, but of different lengths - 61 cm and 59 cm.

Now we join the end of the shorter board at a right angle with the edge of the 61-cm board and again drill holes, but only at the end of the short board, passing the drill through the three holes made earlier on the edge of the long board. This stage is clearly shown in the next photo.

Glue two boards together, then fix with screws. If desired, the joint can be sealed with putty.

Next, we move on to finishing the roof. It can either be painted in 2 layers, or pasted over with “tiles” from improvised materials, for example, from cardboard or cork sheets. And finally, on the ends on the front side of the roof, we glue 2 parts of the molding.

Step 4. Creating and installing a pipe, installing a roof

It's time to turn the 5x5x20 cm wooden block into a chimney. To do this, simply saw off one of its corners (45 degrees) and paint according to the principle described in Step # 1. When the paint is dry, we fix the chimney to the roof with screws.

Well, that's all, the roof is ready, it remains only to screw it to the cabinet in the inner corners, as shown in the photo.

Step 5. Replacing or installing the back wall

The next step involves equipping the rack with a wall, if it is not there, replacing the existing wall with a prettier one (for example, under a white lining) or simply installing the missing wall for the attic floor. We perform the following actions: we make the necessary measurements, cut out a blank from the hardboard / wall panel and fasten it on the back side with cloves / screws / glue.

Step 6 Install Partitions to Create Rooms

Cut out interior partitions from any material (hardboard, wood, MDF, plywood), then cut doorways into them and install with glue or screws. Woo-ala! The doll house is built, you can proceed to the most exciting part of the work - the decor and filling the rooms with furniture.

If you add a rack with wheels, the house will turn out to be mobile

And here is an example of equipping a dollhouse with lighting, which can not only create comfort in it, but also play the role of a night light.

Master class 3. How to make a plywood dollhouse

Making a dollhouse out of plywood or wood is somewhat more difficult, but it will look better and last so long that in the future it can even be inherited. To create such a house does not need to have special skills. It is enough to have the tools, clearly follow the drawing and the following video instruction, from which you will learn how to make a do-it-yourself dollhouse for 25 cm Barbies and other dolls 25-26 cm tall.
