The design of the apartment can be completely designed independently. To do this, you need to know a few basic rules and show your own imagination. Thanks to our recommendations, you will be able to design an apartment design with your own hands.

Peculiarities

Very often, repairs in an apartment are started not out of urges to change the usual environment, but when certain problems arise. For example, plaster begins to crumble from the ceiling or furniture becomes unusable. Very often we are ready to live in a boring environment, provided that the minimum comfort is observed, and do not dare to repair. This choice is not always wise. Professional designers have picked up "life hacks" to transform your apartment or house. They are able to breathe new life even in the darkest room.

There are two main ways to transform the design of a house or apartment - you can do a simple redecorating or change everything drastically. The choice is always yours. It is necessary to take into account the general style, and only then select the color scheme of the room, taking into account the future interior.

Current trends

For your apartment, it is best to choose current trends in design. It will help you make your home stylish and modern. Add a touch of modernity to it and use materials that will last you long years. So you can postpone the next repair in your house for a long time.

In the design of an apartment, professionals most often use styles such as:

  • provence;
  • loft;
  • country and many others.

Many designers today design and in rustic style.

Classic

The classic style combines several directions. Among them are Baroque, Rococo, Classicism, Art Nouveau, English and others. Appeared classic style several centuries ago, but managed not to lose its relevance today, which proves its beauty and practicality.

Its feature are expensive decor items and decoration of the room, as well as carved furniture. Fireplace, statues, antiques are traditional components of the style.

Ethnic

This style will help to recreate the atmosphere characteristic of a particular nation. You can revive Japanese minimalism, German pragmatism, Russian originality in your home.

Modern

Modern design are areas such as:

  • Art Deco;
  • minimalism;
  • hi-tech, etc.

AT modern style the spirit of progress and postmodernism is clearly felt. There is a rejection of unnecessary comfort and details. There is beauty in simplicity in this design. Smooth lines, monotony, minimalism, varnish on surfaces, strict furniture, bright lighting - this is all modern style.

Colors

When choosing the color of walls and floors for an apartment or house, follow the tips of professionals:

  • Shades of green and blue promote concentration and relax the eyes. Milky white and pale yellow tones are also good.
  • Orange and red increase excitability.
  • To create a harmonious combination, you need to take white and some contrasting color. The combination of colors also depends on the style. For high-tech, white, gray and bright red are suitable. For modern, you need to choose purple, red and pink.
  • A combination of two bright contrasting colors is not allowed.
  • It is not recommended to combine brown and gray in the same room. They visually reduce the room.

  • The color of the floor can be either light or dark. It all depends on the style of the room.
  • Small spaces need more light. But don't overdo it. If you have a light ceiling, then the floor can be made contrasting. This will add more brightness.
  • Just 3-4 mirrors are enough for the whole apartment to visually expand the space.

Any finishing materials can be used. It all depends on the design you choose. Today it is becoming more and more popular brickwork. It goes well with the industrial style. Decorative plaster more suitable for classic.

We develop a design project

When developing a design project, one should take into account the general style of housing and the features of each individual room, its functionality and style.

Victorian era design is suitable for the bathroom. It looks very rich and is liked by many people. Such luxury should be decorated with vintage furniture.

In the kitchen, you can put an unusual chair with smooth lines. He will look just amazing. The chrome-plated surface is suitable for lamps in the style Fusion. This will be a good combination.

The living room should have maximum comfort and plenty of space. If you have a large hall, then you can safely use a variety of colors in the interior. For a small living room, it is better to use light colors. Thus, you can visually expand the space.

It is quite difficult to develop a design project with your own hands. You can do it yourself only if you follow our recommendations.

You can additionally use applications to create designs. This will make the task much easier. The process of creating a project in this case looks like this:

  • Measurement. We draw or print a layout indicating the actual dimensions.
  • Scale plan. The ratio of the actual size to that drawn on the plan should be 1: 4. It is performed either manually or on a computer.
  • Exercise technical plan. It is a list of what needs to be done: the selection of style, the choice of furniture in the rooms, colors and everything that will give the interior logic and rationality.
  • planning decision. You need to re-plan the apartment and find out how to do everything according to the law. We mark zones and arrange objects (so far only on paper).

  • 3D. Create a three-dimensional three-dimensional model from a flat plan in SketchUp and try to virtually walk along it. There may be a rethinking of the plan due to the fact that now you will more fully understand how what we have on paper will look in real life. You will also understand the advantages and disadvantages of finishing with various materials, work out various little things and so on.
  • Style selection. Before we start this stage, you already have a rough idea of what and how will function and how your interior and design solution will look. Re-read the previous paragraphs, finally determine everything for yourself, look again at the pictures that inspired and took the interior as a model and proceed directly to the design.
  • Consider the parameters of the apartment before you start choosing materials for decoration, furniture, fixtures and lamps, etc. An insufficiently high ceiling, poor lighting and other troubles can greatly interfere with bringing your ideas to life.
  • Blueprints. We translate the outline into a plan. Here you will need both drawings for dismantling and installation drawings. We mark lamps and other light sources, switches with sockets.

Necessary materials and tools

For budget repair you will have to buy building materials yourself. Let's go through the tools and materials that you will have to turn to during work. You will need:

  • A perforator that combines the functions of a drill, a jackhammer, a mortar mixer, and a screwdriver. To expand the functionality, we advise you to buy a drill, a cartridge with an adapter, a mortar mixer, a pike and a spatula.
  • Screwdriver. It has two actions: to twist and unscrew self-tapping screws, dowels, anchors, bolts, and drill metal. We also buy a set of bits and drills.
  • Bulgarian. It is necessary to purchase 3 discs for it: a cutting disc for metal, a diamond disc (for concrete and ceramics) and a grinding disc.
  • Building level. There are a wide variety of sizes of this tool, ranging from 20 centimeters to 2.5 meters. For small openings, a level of 40 cm is enough. Walls, ceilings and floors need, respectively, a higher level. The bubble spirit level is very popular and often used. Due to the presence of alcohol, it is successfully operated at temperatures below zero.

  • Roulette for measurements. The recommended length is seven meters.
  • Hacksaw. You need a tool with large teeth - for bars and boards, and with small ones - for plywood, fiberboard, chipboard and plastic.
  • A hammer. You need a regular hammer with a rectangular section, one blunt side and one beveled.
  • Pliers. They will help to cut the wire and pull out the nail. This is a multifunctional tool.
  • Set wrenches from 6 to 22 mm.
  • Spatulas - narrow, wide and notched. Narrow (60-80 mm) is useful for hard-to-reach openings. Wide (200-400 mm) for walls, openings, etc. A notched trowel is needed to apply glue to the area of \u200b\u200btile or stone.
  • You will also need regular paint brushes.

Finishing

Even a simple wall repair will not do without finishing. We offer you original ideas. You can safely use them in your home. You will certainly get an original and stylish design:

  • Fresh press. A newspaper instead of wallpaper on the walls is very original and stylish. With the proper whiteness of the paper, this option will look good enough. The newspaper is much thinner than the wallpaper, so do not forget to cover it with a protective varnish after gluing.
  • Brick. A brick wall would be a good solution for stylish design. That's just flashing in modern interiors she's too often and has had enough time to get bored. Therefore, you can lay out with a brick not the entire wall, but only a part. It will look interesting with the white rest of the wall. You get an interesting contrast.
  • Sea stones. Returning from vacation, you can grab the material for decorating your home directly from the sea. Sea stones and pebbles are quite reliable. It is convenient and pleasant to work with them and you can dream up, laying out various patterns.

You can lay them out as a whole wall, or only a small part.

  • Stretch walls. If you imagine what stretch ceiling, then you will not raise a question, what are stretch walls. This practice is quite rare and it will add originality to your design. Don't be afraid to try something new.
  • Drywall. Designers do not like intricate and bizarre drywall designs. However, there are cases when even such a finish looks stylish and spectacular.

In order not to overdo it and not make out of your room cardboard box However, it is better to consult with experts first.

How to delimit space?

It is quite possible to bring comfort to the house on your own. You can not only beautifully, but also practically decorate the space by simply adding decorative partitions. Let's take a look at a few ways to delimit space and separate rooms from each other:

  • Podium in the middle of the room. A non-standard and rather unusual choice, as it may seem at first. It is necessary to throw away the bed, and instead build a podium half a meter high and put a huge mattress on it. This will give your environment peace, tranquility and friendliness. You can add pull-out drawers to the podium and store various things there.

  • Individual space. If you live in apartment building, this does not mean that your apartment cannot be transformed and made at least a little more individual. For example, lower the ceiling above the bed. This will visually create the center of the room and focus on the sleeping area. Drywall will help with this. Do not forget to pre-mount some unusual backlighting there beforehand.

What to sew for comfort?

Crafts that have an interesting name - panels look incredibly cozy and cute. They can be made from fabric, wood, beads and other materials.

We will consider the simplest option, how to make a fabric panel:

  • You will need patches of different colors and lengths. You need to stick them on cardboard or any other dense material (you can use a wooden board if you have one). Immediately decide on the picture you want to embody: it will be easier for you to choose the right material.
  • Having chosen the desired image, start cutting it out of fabric and sticking it on cardboard. It is advisable to use PVA glue, since it is suitable for gluing patches, it will firmly hold them on cardboard.
  • Cardboard can also be pre-pasted with some fabric, preferably plain. It will serve as the background for the main image.
  • If you do not want to use glue for your panel, you can sew on patches with threads. Such seams look very interesting.

If you think that such a task is beyond your power, do not worry. Any image is suitable for a panel, even the simplest and most uncomplicated. Cut out various fabrics geometric figures or simple objects (for example, a teapot, mugs, pots, jugs, flowers, etc.). This is possible even for a child.

Patchwork

Patchwork-style crafts look no less interesting in the interior. This patchwork technique resembles a fabric panel. These are neatly cut patches, assembled into a composition of a certain theme that can decorate any item in your room. For example, pillowcases or blankets are often decorated with patchwork, collecting them from many patches of different sizes and colors. Most often, rectangular and triangular geometric shapes, as well as squares, become fragments for compositions. Patchwork pillows look very interesting, they will definitely add bright colors to your living room.

By the way, decorative elements made using the patchwork technique are most suitable for interiors in the style of Provence or Boho.

creative knitting

Undoubtedly, knitted crafts made of yarn will be a beautiful element and addition to your interior. If you love and know how to knit, the original schemes of toys, coasters and napkins will help you make your plans come true. You can knit an interesting case for flower pots or hot plate. We present to your attention instructions for creating a knitted rug from those things that you no longer use.

Take old thing and start cutting it in a spiral. You should get a long strip no more than 4-5 cm wide. Arm yourself with a crochet hook and start making a chain of air loops. Use stripes of different colors if you have a lot of old things. With the resulting rug we decorate the corridor or any other room in the house. Such a piece of decor looks original, it will not be difficult to make it. Moreover, it does not take long to master, so it will not take much time to create, but you will definitely be guaranteed comfort.

Storage Ideas

Creative things that look stylish and original can be done not only by a professional designer. You yourself will be able to make unusual and useful little things for household trifles.

For example, for storing all sorts of little things, an empty plastic bottle from lemonade:

  • Cut the bottle in half with a utility knife. You will need Bottom part without neck. Arm yourself with the beautiful paper napkins and glue. We make a container using decoupage technique.
  • You will need to use glue to paste over part of the bottle with a napkin. To do this, as you already understood, is simple.

If you have old desk drawers, you can transform them into an exclusive designer item by pasting the inside walls of the drawer with colorful paper napkins or shiny gift paper. In such a box you can store any small things. By the way, the outer walls of the box can also be repainted in a different color or specially aged by peeling off the old paint.

Aging things is now a special technique that will give the decor a vintage style.

If you still have jars of paint after repair, you can use them as storage for small things. One has only to figure out how you decorate the jar and give it the proper look. You can work in the decoupage technique, wrap it in a gift box or even decorate it with rhinestones, sequins. Such a jar can be hung or put on a shelf, store stationery and other small things in it.

If you are a hostess or host wooden house, you are not alien to the problem of darkening wood and the loss of its former attractiveness. To prevent damage to the wooden surfaces of the house, you can paint the lining inside. The paint will keep the wood texture well and make the wood more resistant and durable. The lining should be painted in several stages:

Paint preparation

At this stage, you will need a pumice stone, a clean rag, a paint brush, and a primer. Clean the lining from dirt with the resulting solution of warm water and soda, old paint can be removed with foil. Wipe the surface with it without applying too much pressure so as not to ruin the wood surface.

Grinding

Using pumice stone or sandpaper (preferably fine-grained), carefully sand the lining.

Padding

Thoroughly wipe the lining from the collected dust and apply a primer in several layers, drying each of them.

Painting

This stage is the final one, in which you will need two brushes: a medium width and a narrow brush. Apply paint in several thin layers, but no more than three. It is recommended to start painting from above so that smudges do not flow down over already painted places. Wait for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat of paint. The last coat of paint should be the thinnest. Choose only good paints, which have proven themselves in the market of this segment on the positive side and receive the highest ratings from buyers. To do this, before buying, you should ask for reviews.

We make paper

Paper is one of the most available materials for crafts. From it you can make origami, napkins, a hot stand and other crafts that will look original and interesting, you just have to show your imagination. One of the most beautiful crafts that can be made from paper is a quilling painting. To do this, cut thin strips of paper.

Each strip is folded, giving it any shape (usually oval). Using pressure with your fingers on the folded ball of paper, form a layered oval shape. Just don't push too hard on the paper or you risk turning it into a flat ball. In this technique, you can make a picture and hang it on the wall. And you can immediately glue such paper balls on the wall if it is plain and dim.

Take cardboard and prepare paper. You can use colored cardboard. Cut thin strips of paper material and start sticking to cardboard with PVA glue. Draw a fantasy flower or butterfly. The image can be absolutely anything. This picture can be hung in the bedroom, living room. It will look chic in any room.

You can even make a hot plate out of paper. To do this, cut thick strips of paper, begin to fold the resulting strips, forming a ball. Depending on what size you want to make the stand, cut into balls larger or smaller. After connecting them to each other, gluing on the sides. The hot plate is ready.

We suggest you decorate your chandelier with paper butterflies. To do this, draw a butterfly on paper and cut it out along the contour. Make a small hole with a needle and thread a thread through it. After making a knot at the end, hang the resulting butterfly on the chandelier.

The more butterflies you cut out, the more charming your room will look.

Draw a tree trunk and branches extending from it in different directions with dark paint on a plain wall. Using colored paper, cut out green tree petals or pink sakura petals, sticking them onto the twigs of the painted trunk. This is an amazing option for brightening plain walls.

You can create a beautiful and cozy interior in your home with the help of crafts made by yourself. It is not so difficult to make such original things - professional skills are not needed for this. The things that we make with our own hands are unique, they give individuality to the interior of the home, bring diversity to the atmosphere.

The special warmth of the hearth emanates from handicrafts. Thanks to unusual creative gizmos, you will get the opportunity to change the interior as you wish or in accordance with the seasons (for example, create New Year's decor). DIY home decor is distinguished by its variety and purpose. Home-made beautiful things and useful crafts for the home can be used as original furnishings, decor elements, or as devices designed to store various household items.

In order to do things with your own hands, it is not necessary to buy expensive materials, you can also use improvised means.

Creating an unusual decor is possible without large material costs. Most of you will have various unnecessary trifles in the house, for example, fabrics, multi-colored paper, buttons - all this can be used as a material for crafts.

There is such a “junk” in almost every house, if you dismantle the pantry or dig in the attic, you will find something. For the manufacture of beautiful new products and homemade trifles, natural materials, glue and threads will also come in handy. But the ideas of handmade decor at home are needed - of course.

Many people think that only people with experience can make and create presentable interior items on their own - this is a delusion. Show your imagination, combine materials of different textures, do not be afraid to experiment, and you will create not only beautiful, but also original home decor.

Even if you have to tinker with the first thing, each subsequent decorative craft will come out better and better, and you will spend less time.

DIY home craft ideas

So, what can you do with your own hands for the home? Let's take a look at some ideas for inspiration. Among the proposed options, you will definitely find something interesting for yourself and try to make your favorite thing with your own hands.

Housekeeper

One of the useful things for the home, while performing a decorative function that you can make with your own hands, is the key holder.

The peculiarity of this housekeeper is that its design imitates brickwork. The basis for the key holder is thick cardboard (you can use part of a box). You will also need thick toilet paper or thick napkins. Dense material is needed so that it does not spread when lubricated with glue. stock up acrylic paints, varnish and glue (regular PVA is suitable).

Make the back wall of the key holder out of rectangular cardboard or plywood sheet. Hooks will be attached to the base. Cut out small rectangular bricks from cardboard, the size should be the same and glue them to the base, leaving a small distance between the parts. Not the entire surface of the cardboard is pasted over with bricks.

In the central part, you need to stick a plate decorated with an inscription, and place a beautiful picture in the upper part.

After that, coat the bricks well with glue, and put a napkin (previously crumpled) on top, a little more glue for impregnation. Using a stick, press a napkin or paper into the gaps between the miniature bricks to make corners. Give the piece time to dry.

Paint over the dried panel with paint (to simulate natural brick, you need to choose a red-brown shade). Use bronze paint to paint the seams.

After the paint dries, cover the bricks in the same tone using a dry brush (dip the brush in the bronze-colored paint, then wipe it on paper until it is almost dry, and only then brush the brickwork).

On a note! When painting bricks with a brush, you need to drive without changing direction.

To make the key holder smooth, cover it with a transparent matte varnish.

The work is completed by attaching loops, after which it can be hung on the wall or presented to someone. In the photo below - the finished key holder:

Hanger for jewelry

All the fair sex love jewelry; almost every woman has jewelry that needs to be stored somewhere. The original storage for jewelry will be a hanger made like a picture.

In order to make a hanger for storing jewelry, you will need:

  • baguette frame;
  • plywood;
  • stain (you can use paint as a substitute);
  • hooks and handles from boxes;
  • nails;
  • screwdriver and drill;
  • cutting tool.

Cut the plywood according to the size of the frame and coat it with stain, then dry it and attach it to the frame. Mark the places where the hooks will be attached and screw them on. It remains to hang decorations on a hanger.

Now you have a place to store women's treasures - jewelry.

Plastic canvas box for storing small items

A simple but presentable box designed to store various little things can be made from a plastic canvas.

Canvas is a material for embroidery. You will need a canvas made of plastic, you can buy it in stores that sell everything for needlework.

On a note! Canvas made of plastic is usually made in the form of sheets, A4 size. Perforations in plastic canvas vary in size. Canvases are produced with a different number of perforations, the more there are, the smaller they are.

In addition to the canvas, you need to stock up on the following materials:

  • dense threads;
  • large needle;
  • fabric or beads;

Embroidery on plastic canvas is almost no different from the usual. Embroidery techniques can be different, the most popular are cross and satin stitch.

Plastic canvas is flexible yet very durable.

Decide what size your box will be. Divide the material into parts intended for the sides and for the bottom. There should be five parts in total. Make elements for the cover. Make a blank, the size of which is 0.5 cm larger in width and length from the bottom. The sides of the lid should be slightly narrower. You will need five more parts. Then sew the parts with dense threads (you can use both braid and even ribbons).

You can embroider any pattern on blanks. Drape the parts that are not embroidered with a cloth or embroider with beads.

Having issued all 10 blanks, start the assembly. At the first stage, the side parts should be sewn to the bottom. Then sew all the side elements of the box from the outside and sheathe the top along the edges. The last step is to assemble the lid in the same way.

We assemble the lid of the box in the same way.

A beautiful plastic canvas box is ready.

Wicker rugs in tapestry technique

One of the options that allow you to give the interior coziness is tapestry rugs. To weave such things, you do not need special tools. A tapestry rug can be made from improvised materials: thick threads that are used for knitting (they can be replaced with ropes made from old clothes) and cords.

The tapestry is a lint-free carpet made manually. The base of tapestry rugs is decorated with ornaments created by interlacing threads. We will create a plot composition in the form of a circle with drawn lines, a thread will run along them, which will serve as the basis.

All work is done with weft threads. Under the complex name, ordinary ropes and braid are hidden, from which weaving and decorative patterns are created.

  • choose a strong thread to create the base;
  • thread-duck broach should be done by hand;
  • to make the tapestry more dense, you can press the threads to the center, for this they use a simple fork.

Stage one. We draw cardboard with a size of 500 x 500 mm. We carry out the firmware of the cardboard with the thread chosen for the base. To do this, cut the markings drawn on the cardboard and thread the rope through the lines so that it runs through the central part.

Stage two. Let's start weaving the tapestry. It is necessary to carefully fix the initial thread. Weaving in the technique of tapestry consists in pulling the cord underlying the alternation of one thread from above and the second from below.

Stage three. Having weaved the last turn of the thread in a circle of cardboard, you need to turn the resulting rug on the reverse side and cut off the base cords. When trimming, leave about 5 cm at the ends. Pull the ends of the laces out of the notches made on the cardboard (the picture does not need to be removed during pulling out) and tie them in pairs. Attach pompoms to the resulting knots.

Finish the composition by sewing a thick rope on the wrong side in a circle - this will hide the knots and ends of the threads.

Advice. Using different textures and shades of threads, you can make different rugs and then combine them into one. You will get a large carpet that can be hung on the wall or laid on the floor.

A tapestry rug laid on the floor will make it warmer, and besides, it looks beautiful. Weaving a tapestry rug with your own hands is not difficult: try it and see for yourself.

Ribbon curtain

You can make an unusual curtain from ribbons. The tape blind is suitable for both windows and doors. It will take a little time to make a curtain from ribbons, even sewing machine need not. Fluttering tape curtain repels insects well; earlier such curtains were made from newspapers cut into strips.

To make a curtain from ribbons, you need the following materials:

  • ribbons or fabric strips (with not fraying edges);
  • cornice;
  • clips or buttons.

Tapes need to be thrown over the eaves and fixed with clamps. Large beads can be strung on fabric strips for decoration.

The tape curtain performs not only a practical, but also a decorative function. The advantage of a curtain made of ribbons is lightness. This is a great option for giving, the tape curtain can be hung in the apartment.

Flower pots from paper bags

Many people have paper bags at home, instead of throwing them away, make flower pots out of them.

Materials for making flower pots:

  • paper bags;
  • wooden skewer;
  • scissors;
  • rope;
  • glue;
  • plastic container.

Take paper bags and make a markup on them: eight strips measuring 70x300 mm, then cut the paper along the dotted lines.

Place a wooden skewer in the corner of one of the strips and wind the paper base diagonally around it. You must make a paper tube from each strip. Seal the corners of the paper tubes so they don't unwind. The easiest way to do this is with a glue gun.

Take a plastic container, apply glue to it and wrap it with paper (from all the same bags) so that the plastic is not visible. Glue paper tubes to the bottom of the container. Cut paper strips 70x450 mm (you will need large bags) and make tubes.

Wrap the tubes so that they are pressed tightly against the walls of the container. Attach a long tube of paper with glue to the bottom of the container, and wrap it around it, you need to braid the main tubes. Wrap all the main tubes, and then change the direction of weaving to braid the missed tubes - this is how you need to wrap the entire container.

Make two holes in the sides of the pot (above).

Pull the rope through the holes made, at each end of the twine you need to tie a knot in order to fix it well. Another woven tube will help to hide the ends of the twine. Wrap the tubes protruding above the pot inside the container and secure with glue.

Unusual flower pots are ready.
