Radial sliding wardrobes design. Radial cabinet - features, device and selection rules

Sliding wardrobes are considered to be popular designs that can accommodate a lot of things, souvenirs, large items and other items. They may have different forms, and radius wardrobes with an unusual and sophisticated appearance are considered an interesting choice, so they fit well into any room. Such furniture is not typical and standard, so many buyers often pay attention to it.

Photos of radius sliding wardrobes are presented below, and on them you can see how unusual these designs have an appearance. It has hinged or sliding doors, but they do not open as standard, moving along one plane, but along a circle. For this, concave profiles for radius sliding wardrobes are used.

In any radius cabinet there is a certain circle, which can have different parameters. The advantages of such furniture include:

  • versatility that allows you to use such a cabinet in any room, as it has flexible shapes, an interesting look and good capacity due to competent internal filling;
  • it is allowed to install a radial piece of furniture not only along the wall of the room, but also in the corner or directly in the center of the room, so a site is chosen that is convenient for this furniture, and space is also saved;
  • the internal design is considered incredibly convenient, so there are no uncomfortable shelves or other objects that prevent the free location of all necessary items on the shelves;
  • users themselves can decide what the internal content will be in the closet, so it is allowed to install different drawers, shelves, pipes, baskets or other storage systems inside, which allows you to get a really roomy and convenient design;
  • radial products are usually chosen for non-standard and unusual interior styles, because they look really interesting, so they often become the highlight of the interior, and also decorate the room, as they are usually equipped with mirror surfaces;
  • radius built-in wardrobes are equipped with special roller mechanisms that make it easy to open or close the doors, and such products are more reliable, durable and convenient compared to standard hinges;
  • fittings are made from high-quality materials suitable for the cabinet in terms of color and parameters;
  • the radius sliding wardrobe can be equipped with glass doors, and large mirrors are often attached, which provides a visual expansion of the space.

A wardrobe with radius doors usually has a significant cost, which is considered an undoubted minus of this furniture. But the buyer still gets a beautiful, comfortable and high-quality design that will look great in any room. Another disadvantage is the complexity of installation, so it is advisable to trust this work to specialists.

Kinds

The radial structure can be presented in several varieties that differ significantly from each other in shape. During the selection, it is taken into account what size the space allocated for installation is, as well as what form is preferred for future users.

The shape of the radius wardrobe compartment can be:

  • convex - most often this form has a built-in wardrobe, installed in a niche. It is ideal for areas that are not suitable for the installation of standard interior items. Such a sliding wardrobe is often chosen for a hallway or a small closet, converted into a small dressing room;
  • concave - in such cabinets there are doors that are slightly pressed inward. Due to this design, a visual increase in the surrounding space is provided, and this is especially true with the mirror design of swing doors. The unusual shape guarantees smoothing of the corners, so the room becomes deeper and more spacious. A concave cabinet often adorns standard interiors;
  • combined - this form for radial cabinets is used quite often. It involves a combination of features and appearance of the two above varieties. Therefore, cabinets are obtained that look like a wave, which is convex in one place and concave in another. Such designs look great with glass door in the living room or bedroom;
  • round - fit perfectly into the high-tech style, as they resemble an unusual and modern capsule. Such cabinets with a radius section have an unusual feature, as they fit well only in large rooms. Therefore, if there is a small living room, then it is better to choose a different model;
  • corner - such a cabinet, which has a mirrored facade, is considered an ideal choice for a room that has small dimensions. It can be made in white or other colors. Possesses triangular shape at the base, but at the same time retains the radius design. Furniture with this radius is easy to install and can be fitted with straight sections and shelves. The cost of corner models is considered affordable, and they are also universal, so they can be installed in various premises regardless of their size.

When choosing any model of a sliding wardrobe, you should carefully study all the components of the door opening mechanism, so the dimensions of the profile, the material of the guides and the quality of the rollers are taken into account. Most buyers prefer to use a concave cabinet due to its specific appearance.

Separately, it is necessary to highlight the case radially made cabinets, which are equipped with rear and side walls. They have different shelves, bottom and lid. No adjustment is required for such furniture, so it can be easily installed in any place chosen in advance by users. Cabinet cabinets are single structures that are easily rearranged throughout the living space.

Also, often people prefer to use the built-in design. It is not equipped with side walls, so the walls of the room are usually used as them. The floor acts as the bottom, and the ceiling of the room is used instead of the cover. Due to the specific dimensions of the cabinet itself and doors, such furniture is usually created to order. The built-in wardrobe is selected depending on the size of the existing niche allocated for installation.

Manufacturing materials

A straight or radius cabinet is created from different materials. The most commonly used for these purposes is:

  • natural wood, which guarantees obtaining unusually refined and attractive designs that have a high price;
  • a variety of lumber makes it possible to create inexpensive and beautiful cabinets, but often they contain formaldehyde, and they must also be protected from moisture, otherwise they will not be able to last for a long time;
  • plastic provides the formation of affordable structures, and you can get a white, red or some other interior item, but it is important to protect it from various mechanical influences in order to prevent the formation of scratches that cannot be removed from the plastic surface;
  • metal makes it possible to make a durable and resistant piece of furniture, on the shelves of which numerous large-sized and heavy elements can be placed, but it is considered not very beautiful and suitable for living quarters, and is also dangerous for children.

Separately, it is taken into account what material the doors are made of. To create doors, the same material can be used that was used to form the sides, bottom and other parts of the cabinet, and other materials can also be used. Often a compartment is created with a mirror that is attached to the door, therefore it has identical dimensions to it. If the design is equipped with hinged doors, then they are made the most durable and reliable. Often tempered glass is used for this, providing really beautiful view of the entire interior. For a hinged design, painting, films and drawings applied in various ways can be used to decorate doors.

Also, when choosing an interior item, it is necessary to determine what the profiles intended for fastening and using doors will be made of. They can be aluminum or metal. The service life and ease of use of furniture depend on the quality and reliability of the profiles.

Filling

Another important factor in the competent choice of a radius wardrobe is its filling. Different storage systems can be used for this, but the elements for filling are used as standard:

  • separate large sections, usually designed to store really large and heavy items;
  • numerous shelves that can be located at different distances from each other, and when choosing shelves, it is recommended to give preference to massive and reliable structures;
  • small stands for souvenirs or cosmetics;
  • drawers in which underwear is often stored;
  • stands for umbrellas;
  • large compartments for bulky bags or other similar items;
  • a pipe used to store various crumpling things on a coat hanger.

Some models are produced empty inside, which allows each user to take into account their own preferences when filling, as well as plan which items will be placed on shelves or other storage systems. This piece of furniture is certainly equipped with shelves, and the rest of the parts may depend on its size and other parameters.

Style and dimensions

The closet should certainly create a convenient space for storing numerous items. But at the same time, it is taken into account that the design should be beautiful and blend well with other furniture in the room.

The design style depends on the interior, so you can choose cabinets made in the style of classics, retro, minimalism or hi-tech. There is a significant difference between these cabinets, as they have different colors and designs. A white wardrobe is often chosen, and it is considered an ideal choice for a small room. This is due to the fact that the white design visually expands the space.

The dimensions of the radius cabinets can be different, as they depend on the shape of the product. Standardly, the height does not exceed 2 meters, the length is from 80 cm to 3 meters, and the depth starts from 35 cm and ends at 1 m.

When choosing the dimensions of the cabinet, various factors are taken into account:

  • place allocated for installation;
  • the number of items that will be stored on the shelves, as well as their size;
  • the number of people using the cabinet for its intended purpose;
  • construction cost.

It is corner structures that are often purchased, since they seem small in appearance, they really take up little space, but their interior space is considered spacious and roomy.

Selection rules

When choosing a specific radius sliding wardrobe, numerous criteria are taken into account, making it possible to choose a high-quality design. These include:

  • the quality of the materials from which the various elements of the cabinet are made must be high, and they must certainly be environmentally friendly;
  • each internal element used in the cabinet must be multifunctional, convenient and durable so that different objects can be placed on it;
  • the design style and colors should ideally match the premises and the preferences of the owners;
  • cost for many buyers is considered a priority, but it is not recommended to pay attention to the cheapest concave structures, as they are made from low-quality materials, therefore they will not last too long, and they will also quickly lose their attractive appearance;
  • dimensions must ideally fit the place that is chosen for installation.

Thus, the radius closet coupe photos of which are collected in the selection are popular designs that have good capacity and an interesting look. They are presented in different types, can have a variety of dimensions, and are also performed in various styles. This gives each buyer the opportunity to choose a model that fits perfectly into the room, as well as containing all the necessary items. Can be used to make furniture different materials, therefore, a model is selected that has the desired quality, appearance and price.

Standard rectangular furniture is widely used today, but designers are constantly developing models of unusual geometry. With their help, you can transform the interior, add softness and originality. This group of products includes a cabinet with a radius facade.

Radius cabinet - features, advantages and disadvantages

The design of the model is distinguished by smooth forms. Dimensions and design depend on the characteristics of the room in which the furniture is planned to be installed.

Models of unusual shape have a number of features. Some are marked with a plus sign and others with a minus sign.

The advantages of such furniture are:

  • original performance;
  • the ability to install in rooms of complex geometry;
  • space saving;
  • lack of sharp corners reduces the risk of injury;
  • different ways of outdoor decoration

However, there are also weaknesses:

  • the internal volume with a concave facade has a smaller capacity;
  • there are difficulties in choosing the elements of the storage system, they will have to be made to order;
  • some types of materials are not suitable for radius facades (chipboard, mirrors);
  • higher cost compared to standard models;
  • Not every master can handle the installation of the product on his own, you will have to turn to professionals.

Types of radius cabinets

There are several ways to classify such furniture.

First of all, products are divided into convex, concave and combined.

Convex facades are best suited for installation in a small room (for example: a hallway). It can be quite difficult to place ordinary furniture there.

A semicircular wardrobe will look appropriate where there is enough free space, decorated in high-tech style.

If the doors are concave inside the cabinet, then the effect of expanding the space and smoothing the corners is created. The room acquires more volume and depth.

The simultaneous use of facades of the first and second types gives a wave-like or S-shape. This approach is often applied to furniture for the living room, nursery, bedroom.

By design, the radius cabinet can be corner or side.

The first type is the most commonly used. He possesses affordable price, not too difficult to install, suitable for any room and best fulfills the task of saving space. If it has a convex facade, it will please with a large capacity.

Attached modules are easier to place in a room with the correct geometry. When they are combined, a common facade of a curved shape is obtained.

Radius cabinet designs

If we talk about the design, then the radius cabinet can be built-in and cabinet. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Case models

The case version consists of side walls, bottom, cover and rear panel. It can be rearranged if necessary. However, it is more expensive, as well as reduced internal volume compared to the built-in model of the same size.

Several types of materials are used in the manufacture of the case.

  • Natural wood has environmental safety, high strength, long term operation. However, the high cost of such products makes the average buyer opt for models from more affordable materials.
  • MDF takes second place. Products made from it are durable and will last a long time.
  • Chipboard is the cheapest option. This is where her virtues end. It is much inferior to the previous types in quality.
  • For the back wall, fiberboard and plywood are often used, but the use of chipboard will increase the strength, rigidity of the structure and increase the attractiveness of the product.

If we talk about the thickness of the chipboard used for the sidewalls, then it is 16, 18, 25 mm. The higher the value, the more reliable the furniture will be. The structure of the material consists of 3 layers. At the edges, it is denser, which provides protection against mechanical stress. The middle, on the contrary, is loose. This allows you to securely hold the fasteners.

There are several ways to attach the back panel.

  • The simplest is overlapped. Differs in low attractiveness and poor reliability. The backrest is fixed with self-tapping screws, nails or furniture clips. The best option are self-tapping screws, although the work will take more time.
  • The groove system will provide greater strength. They can be located on 2, 3 or 4 sides.

Sometimes the back panel consists of several parts. They are interconnected plastic profile or reinforced tape. But it is better to opt for a product with a solid surface.

Built-in wardrobes

Built-in furniture is different in that part of the functional details replace the walls, floor and ceiling of the room. Its dimensions are determined by the individual characteristics of the room. It will be difficult to change the location of the built-in wardrobe, but such furniture will allow you to use the allotted space. the best way. For its device, internal filling and a facade are required. However, in order for the product to function without surprises, it is necessary to prepare the selected area: check the strength, level the surfaces and carry out finishing work.

The facade of the radius cabinet - types and features

Radius facades have limitations related to the possible bending limit of the selected material. Exceeding the extreme values will lead to the rapid destruction of structural elements. When calculating, the location of the furniture, the area of \u200b\u200bthe room and the design solution are taken into account. The outer radii are 300, 700 and 1000 mm, and the inner ones are represented by one value - 300 mm.

The number of doors is calculated based on the length of the arc. In doing so, the following must be taken into account:

  • the width of one door should not be less than 500 mm, otherwise the doors will constantly move off the rails;
  • the number of doors must match the number of compartments, otherwise "dead" zones are formed;
  • all parts of the curved facade have the same width, the optimal spacing is from 60 to 90 cm.

For the manufacture of facades, several types of materials are used.

  • MDF is used most often. Vacuum-compressed wood chip boards are given a certain bend.
  • Curved tempered glass is framed with an aluminum profile.
  • Plastic is represented by a wide colors, has strength and low weight.
  • Wooden array is used quite rarely due to the high cost.

Decorative design is performed in different techniques:

  • photo printing;
  • sandblasting;
  • fusing;
  • painting with special paints;
  • stained glass inserts;
  • combination of different materials.

Types of door opening mechanisms on radius cabinets

Cabinets with radius facades can be equipped with hinged doors or a sliding door system like a compartment.

Swing facades

Models with rounded swing doors are much less common. Although they differ in silent operation and attractive appearance. curved door leafs attached to the frame with hinges. To close the doors to the end, the mechanism is equipped with an automatic closer.

For radius facades, the following types of loops are used:

  • invoices;
  • semi-overhead;
  • inserts;
  • corner;
  • inverse.

Despite the presence of a closer, the door often does not slam shut completely. This is due to a violation of the geometric parameters of the sash or frame. In this case, it is worth installing hinges with a large rebound angle or adjusting the height using a wedge bar.

Radius wardrobe with hinged doors makes it easy to access the contents, thanks to the full opening of the doors. And also such a system does not reduce the usable volume of furniture.

Sliding (coupe)

In sliding facades with rounded doors, the movement is carried out along curved guides using rollers. There are 2 types of mechanisms.

  • The top hung version is used in built-in models. The rail is attached to the ceiling, so it is important that the latter is characterized by increased strength. However, despite the attractive appearance, over time, sagging of the structure is observed, which prevents normal functioning. To avoid this, regular maintenance operations must be carried out.
  • The device based on the lower rail does not impose special requirements on the ceiling, since the main weight goes to the guide located below. The load distribution in this case occurs more evenly, so this mechanism is considered more reliable.

For the manufacture of guides use aluminum or steel. The first option is different the best performance(stability, low noise).

Filling - types of systems and rules for planning the interior space of the cabinet

The filling of any cabinet depends on its purpose, and radius models are no exception.

If the product is intended to accommodate a home library, then all the internal space is occupied by shelves. The distance between them is defined as the length of a standard book plus 15-20 cm.

In the case when the furniture is planned to be used to store a collection, beautiful items, dishes, it would be wise to install glass shelves and supplement them with lighting.

Most often, wardrobes are needed to accommodate clothes and other items. Interior space conditionally divided into 3 zones. Under the very ceiling there is a mezzanine, a wide shelf or a bar with lifting mechanism. In the middle part there are shelves, drawers and a regular crossbar. The lower tier is given for shoes, travel bags, suitcases, household appliances (for example: vacuum cleaner, iron).

To organize a convenient and rational storage system, the following elements are used.

  • Fixed and sliding shelves. They are suitable for large items, bedding. The minimum distance between them is 30 cm. It is good if there are additional holes for the holders. This will allow you to adjust the location of the shelves as you wish.
  • Drawers and baskets help to compactly arrange laundry, clothing, etc.
  • Trouser. It is a device equipped with a number of parallel bars on which trousers or jeans are hung.
  • A similar device, but smaller, is used for ties, belts, scarves, etc.
  • Barbell (one or more). The crossbar in the upper part is usually equipped with a pantograph. More often, the middle part of the cabinet is allocated under it. It is reasonable to use at least 2 rods: one for dresses, coats, raincoats, and the second for shirts, blouses, skirts, etc.
  • Low drawers, divided into sections, ideal for small items.
  • Inclined shoe racks save space.
  • Mezzanine or top shelf located along the entire length of the cabinet. It is suitable for hats and things that are rarely used.
  • Hooks for ladies' bags will also not be superfluous.

To achieve efficient use of the internal volume, the shelves are made taking into account the shape of the facade.

Today, the demand for wardrobes, especially rounded ones, is growing more and more. This is due not only to their attractive appearance, but also to the structural characteristics, since such furniture is quite roomy and can transform the interior beyond recognition. Unfortunately, these designs are very expensive and not everyone can afford. Therefore, despite all the complexity, we suggest you make a radius wardrobe with your own hands. In this article, our experts will tell you in detail how to make and assemble such a structure on your own, as well as reveal all the nuances and subtleties of this process.

Features of radius wardrobes

The main feature of such structures is a rather unusual form, which allows them to be placed in almost every room. This type of furniture will be most relevant in small rooms, since, despite their spaciousness, radius wardrobes take up very little space.

Important! The side wall of a standard straight wardrobe is at least 60 centimeters wide. Radius structures may not have side walls at all.

Such products can be made of absolutely any shape, and thanks to a special sliding mechanism, the cabinet can be easily hidden in the niche allotted for it.

In addition, the installation of a radius wardrobe has a number of other advantages:

  • Visual increase in space due to the presence of mirrors or mirror inserts on the doors;
  • Gives the interior a more modern and original appearance;
  • A wide range of different models and design solutions in design;
  • The ability to use the walls of the room as the walls of the product itself.

The main types of radius wardrobes

Before you make a radius wardrobe, it is very important to decide on the type of construction. On the modern market today, there are only two types of such products:

  • Case. This is an independent piece of furniture that contains absolutely all the details that a full-fledged closet should have. Such products are mobile, respectively - they can be moved in case of repair or relocation.

Important! The only drawback of this type of furniture is its size.

  • Embedded. Such structures are not equipped with side walls, ceiling and floor. Their main advantage lies in the fact that the shape and parameters of the finished product are developed exclusively for the place where this structure will be placed. Unfortunately, the built-in radius wardrobes are not transportable.

Necessary fittings and accessories

The main feature of all wardrobes is their sliding system, which is made of steel or aluminum profile.

As for the thickness of the profile, it should be no more than 1.2 millimeters.

Important! If the thickness of the profile is less than the above parameter, in this case there is a risk of anodizing the coating or falling out of the sheet facade of the material.

You should also always remember that after installation, the glass will be in constant tension, respectively - the profile must be selected quite strong so that it can withstand such a load.

Important! Today you can find a ready-made bent profile with a width of up to 2500 millimeters and a radius in the range from 300 to 5000 millimeters.

In addition, before making a curved cabinet door, it is very important to choose sliding systems. AT radius structures they can be of two types:

  • Suspension mechanisms. In this case, the door is suspended on rollers that are installed in the upper guide, respectively - it is fixed exclusively Bottom part sashes.

Important! Structures with a hanging mechanism are considered unreliable and of poor quality, since the main load falls solely on the cabinet itself.

  • Mechanisms with a sliding system located at the bottom. In this case, the door is fixed on the upper track, and the sliding rollers are installed at the bottom. This design is more reliable and significantly increases the operational life of the cabinet.

Due to its original and very non-standard form, we will pay more attention to the door of the radius wardrobe, which consists of several elements at once:

  • Lateral vertical profiles that act as handles. They can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. The first ones look the same on both sides, and the second ones divide the sash into the outer and outer sides.
  • Upper asymmetrical rollers. With their help, the door is kept in the opening.
  • Upper frame. It is necessary to fix the rollers and install the door in the upper opening.
  • The bottom frame is where the wheels are attached. In addition, it ensures smooth sliding of the door along the rail.
  • Filling. It can be completely different, depending on your taste preferences. Most often, glass, wood, mirrors are used for these purposes.
  • Sealant. It protects the structure from dust ingress, and also softens the impact of the door during its closing.
  • Door plug. It is designed to fix and secure the side profiles.
  • Adjustment and assembly screws adjust and improve the quality of sliding.
  • The stopper or positioner makes it possible to fix the door in a certain position convenient for you.

How to make a radius wardrobe with your own hands?

The manufacturing process of a radius wardrobe is divided into two main stages:

  1. Design of the future structure.
  2. assembly of the product itself.

Designing a radius wardrobe

To begin with, it is very important to determine the size of the future product. In this you will be an excellent assistant will be an online designer.

Important! The online constructor is a special software in which the necessary parameters of the future design are set. After that, based on these data, the future appearance of the wardrobe, the number of doors and content is selected. Thanks to this designer, you can visually see the future product.

In order for the finished result to exceed all your expectations, we bring to your attention a few tips that will greatly simplify the entire design process for you:

  • First of all, it is necessary to determine the location of the finished product, as well as its functional purpose.
  • At least 2 sections should be allocated for storing clothes. This way you can separate things by season.
  • The depth of the cabinet must be at least 60 centimeters. This is the optimal setting that will allow you to place shelves without any problems.
  • If you plan to carry out additional lighting in the closet, top cover it is necessary to push forward 12-17 centimeters.
  • The width of the inner shelves should be no more than 65 centimeters, otherwise they will simply bend under the weight.
  • The width of the sashes must be at least 50 centimeters, as there is a risk of them falling out of the guides.

In order to produce a quality structure, it is also very important to know and take into account the following factors when designing:

  • The number of doors must always be equal to the number of compartments.
  • The thickness of the chipboard directly affects the appearance and strength of the finished product.
  • All doors must be the same thickness.
  • You can not place pull-out baskets for storing things in front of the doors, otherwise you may have problems opening them.

In addition, before assembly, it is very important to prepare in advance the tools and materials that you will need during work. You will need:

  • Drawings of the product itself;
  • Drill;
  • Pencil;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Square;
  • Trim panels: top, side and bottom;
  • Furniture shield with a thickness of about 18 millimeters;
  • doors;
  • Necessary fittings and accessories;
  • Drawers and guides.

The process of manufacturing and assembling a radius wardrobe

In order to make a radius cabinet with your own hands, it is very important to adhere to the following workflow:

  1. Using a level, make marks on the wall with a pencil where the vertical posts will be installed.
  2. On the ceiling, mark the future location of the profiles.
  3. Mark the height of the shelves.
  4. Drill holes.
  5. Using a hammer, hammer the dowels into the already prepared holes.
  6. Install the mezzanine shelf according to the previously made markings.
  7. Install the side profile.
  8. Assemble the contents of the entire structure, including drawers and shelves. This should be done according to the markup.
  9. Install bezels. Using a screwdriver, fix them to the side wall, ceiling and floor.
  10. Attach the top and bottom profiles to the previously installed bezels.
  11. Install cabinet doors. To do this, attach vertical profiles on the sides and install the door seal.
  12. Lock the lower and upper door frames.
  13. Check the correctness and ease of sliding of the installed door.

Important! Pay attention to the fact that radius roller systems attached to the ceiling should not be installed on a surface made of drywall and similar materials. This is due to the fact that the average load on the ceiling will be about 30 kilograms, and during the opening and closing of the doors, they will still create additional vibrations. Accordingly, the plasterboard ceiling simply cannot withstand such a load.

The manufacture and assembly of a radius wardrobe will not be difficult for you if you have selected high-quality materials and produced correct calculations. Also, do not forget to put into practice the above tips and recommendations of our experts. Thanks to them, you will not only significantly save time on the manufacture of this design, but also in the end you will receive a quality product that will delight you and your loved ones.

A sliding wardrobe is a real salvation for small (and for large) apartments. A whole heap of clothes, seasonal items and even small items fit here. Appliances. But how to choose, make and install a wardrobe so that it pleases the eye and lasts a long time? A few of the most common mistakes during the design and installation of the wardrobe, Ekaterina, the manager of the Shkaf4yu company (“Closet for you”), brought and commented.

Mistake 1: bad design

“Why the project at all if there are already dozens of great models in the picture in the magazine?” you ask, and you'll only be half right. Indeed, if the situation from the picture and your house look like twin brothers, then you should not waste time on a design project.

But there are other cases as well. Exhibition copies are usually taller and wider standard models so that everyone can see everything. Fitting to your dimensions can significantly distort the look of the cabinet. It's like runway models - what looks good on them doesn't necessarily fit your friend's size 48 perfectly.

It is not obvious, but other factors also influence external perception: whether or not you have a sunny side, an elongated or square room, a dark or light floor, what size chandelier, etc. It may turn out that after installing the cabinet you will feel like in the underworld or like being interrogated in front of the all-seeing eye. So the project should be individual and take into account all the features of your particular room.

Solution: the project should be done (well, or at least customized to your parameters) by a professional designer.

Mistake 2: wrong material

In a shoe store, the first thing you always go to is the leather goods shelf – that’s “the best” after all. But few people know that in winter, in severe frost, shoes made of artificial materials protect your feet from the cold many times better.

The situation is very similar with wardrobes. You are sure that a wardrobe made of solid solid oak will stand for 200 years and will serve faithfully. Some underdesigners stuff you with similar misconceptions. But it's not quite like that.

Indeed, a large folding wardrobe for the living room in a huge country house may well be appropriate. But for an apartment in Minsk (and any other big city) allocate precious square meters under the useless thick wooden walls there is no point. In addition, natural wood doors are very heavy, so they cannot be placed on miniature wheels and run on rails.

Most right choice in terms of quality / load / price - a sliding wardrobe made of laminated chipboard. The material itself is strong, but at the same time light, the shelves can withstand more than 100 kg, and the price is very pleasant. In addition, chipboard can be decorated as you like. By changing the facade, it is easy to find suitable wardrobes for the bedroom from Shkaf4u.

Solution: do not chase "expensive-rich", but choose a light and durable material such as chipboard.

Mistake 3: curve calculation

You will be surprised, but not all rulers, tape measures and centimeters are the same. It just so happens that during production a deviation of one or even several divisions is allowed. And with a closet, the purpose of which is to withstand kilograms of things, even an extra millimeter can play a cruel joke. If the walls and guides are at least a couple of mm beveled, the door will never ride smoothly and silently on them (if at all). So, because of such a trifle as the wrong measurement, even the best wardrobe made of quality materials can become a waste of money.

But the most common errors in calculations happen precisely for such a reason as the “non-ideal” of the “box” itself. Somewhere the wall went askew, in another place the floor is uneven, but here the niche is generally crooked, etc. Masters working on such projects already know the most painful areas and the most convenient heights for measurements. Your own calculations may not be enough, and as a result, the cabinet simply will not enter the allotted niche with some upper left corner.

But even if all the centimeters are checked and the walls are aligned, no one has canceled the simple human factor and the errors of the eye.

Solution: There are several solutions. Or you take a single ruler and measure the dimensions of the walls, pieces of material, the height of the shelves, etc. with it. etc., or trust specialists who have already tested and tested all the tools on real projects.

Mistake 4: amateurish installation.

Here the problem can pop up even where you do not expect it at all. For example, not all screws and nuts when installing a wardrobe should be tightened all the way. This nuance is especially important when installing sliding doors. The inclination of the bolt in the profile determines whether the door will fit snugly against the door, how smooth its movement will be, etc.

If you listen to our previous advice and decide to choose a closet for a nursery made of chipboard in Minsk, then you will have to face difficulty during its installation. Chipboard is a capricious material that requires a professional attitude. He dislikes "accidental" holes and rough handling.

A separate item is always the installation of sliding wardrobes with glass facades (lakomat, lakobel, mirror, etc.). Home "jacks of all trades" are very fond of scratching, chipping or breaking something, and then curtailing everything for delivery or manufacturing defects.

Solution: even if you bought the parts for the cabinet somewhere from your hands and are sure that it will suit you, it is better to seek the advice of a specialist for installation.

As you can see, there are few major mistakes, and they all lie on the surface. Nevertheless, every day clients come to Shkaf4yu with a request to redo or fix something. We hope that if you listen to our advice, you will become the owner of an excellent piece of furniture and a reliable wardrobe. And the best solution is to entrust a company specializing only in working with sliding wardrobes with all the work from project development to final installation!

In this article, we will analyze the common mistakes that beginner furniture makers make when designing wardrobes. Himself a sinner, was seen in a couple of them))

1. Mistake #1 This sliding wardrobe according to the project is double-leaf. Everything, it seems, is good, there are compartments for clothes, shelves for linen and drawers ...

BUT, mentally put in place two doors that will overlap each other IN THE MIDDLE of the cabinet. Those. the middle section in any position of the doors will be open no more than half.

Fix options - make three doors if the width of the cabinet allows (we remember that the ratio of the height to the width of the door should be no more than 1:4). The second option is to make the filling of the wardrobe two-section.

2. Mistake #2 First, we look at the left cabinet: everything seems to be fine again: two sections, two doors, BUT, if you mentally paint on the system of sliding doors again, it turns out that when you try to push them out, the drawers will rest against the handle profile ...

Fix options- Make the left compartment less than half the cabinet in width, but if you need to make the right section of a strictly fixed width (in the example it is set by the width of the clothes hanger), then you can only narrow the section with drawers (see fig.).

3. Mistake #3 Again touches the drawers. In order from left to right. The bottom drawer is 3 mm from the floor. It seems that the gaps are taken into account, everything should work, BUT we put the bottom guide in place, the height of which is 5-6 mm and that's it ... the bottom drawer is not functional.

Fix options - raise the bottom drawer above the floor to a height of at least 15 mm (second figure), but in this case a large gap remains under it. To level this defect, we put a "feather" under it from a piece of 16 mm laminated chipboard 100 mm wide, we make an indent of 3 mm from it to open it and voila - everything works!

4. Mistake #4 Occurs during design corner wardrobes. It lies in the fact that the calculation for the width of the compartment doors is carried out according to the width of the front edge of the lower horizon.

For all that, the length of the first track of the guide is shorter than the second, so the doors of the same width do not overlap each other.

Fix options - correctly calculate the compartment doors, you can use the article posted earlier.

I hope that given this material, you will not make such "childish" mistakes in the design of your wardrobes, which means that you will not have to redo anything again. After all, it’s not for nothing that they say: “Measure seven times and cut once!”
