Lighting in the dressing room. How to bring light into the bath from home

main feature saunas and baths are hot. In order to obtain the temperature that is optimal for bathing procedures, and it can be in the range of 65–120 degrees Celsius, and at the same time not incur high heating costs, effective thermal insulation will be required. Windows are one of the main objects of the room through which a lot of heat escapes. Therefore, they cannot be light sources in the steam room and sauna. To get effective lighting in the rooms for bath procedures, it is better to use special lamps for a bath, steam room or sauna.

Lighting design

For the most beneficial effect of procedures on the human body, the lighting of the bath should create a relaxing environment. At the same time, the lighting in the steam room is made optimal in terms of brightness and color. The involved lamp for the steam room should emit such light that all objects are clearly distinguishable. This will help you not get burned on the stove or trip over the water bucket. Therefore, to obtain an effective result, a preliminary design of the interior with the placement of light sources is mandatory.
It helps to choose the right lamps for the bath, to design the optimal lamp for the bath, it will give a pretty clear idea of how the backlight in the bath will look like. It is recommended that everyone go through the design stage: both professionals and owners of private houses and summer cottages who are able to make lighting in the bath with their own hands. If you plan to independently install heat-resistant lamps in the steam room, it is recommended:

 • decide whether traditional light sources or fiber optic illumination will be used;
 • make an appropriate design of lampshades;
 • using a sketch, consider how the selected lamps for the steam room in the bath will be attached, which is also important for other rooms;
 • choose the best location;
 • when making a lampshade according to a template, make a carved element;
 • use tempered frosted glass ordered from the supplier according to the relevant images (sketches or drawings).

Special design solutions

Before you make lighting in the bath, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the already completed projects on the Internet. Noteworthy are the lamps that shed light into the steam room or steam room from under the bench in the truest sense of the word. This is a simple and effective lighting solution. It does not require the manufacture of lampshades. Light sources are located on the wall under the bench. Their position must be linked to the design and design of the front of the shop. It should have enough space for the passage of light.

 • When decorating the front of the bench, either a vertical or inclined position of the boards is recommended. With the horizontal position of the boards, the result will be the worst. The distance between the boards of one centimeter is optimal for the perception of such illumination.

The steam room and sauna can be illuminated with a wide variety of lamps. Their placement when using light from under the bench may be redundant. Therefore, the design must be done taking into account the selection of the brightness of the light sources after manufacture. The design of the luminaires should provide for the possibility of installing lamps of various wattages and sizes. At the same time, the perception of design should not change for the worse.

Savings Issues

With rising energy prices, saunas and baths are becoming very expensive pleasure. And not so much because of the cost of construction, but because of the cost of operation. The amount of electricity consumed has to be reduced in all consumers. Including light sources. The use of optical fiber allows the use of LED lighting in the bath.

If you place LED lamps for a bath directly in the steam room, sauna, and in other rooms, except for the hallway, this will most likely lead to their overheating and breakage.

Ordinary semiconductors cannot be used at the temperatures of saunas and baths without forced cooling. But then cold air will enter the room and lower the temperature in it, which is unacceptable for a sauna and a steam room. An optical fiber cable, which has minimal attenuation to light, makes it possible to separate the light source and its radiation in space. LED lamps or individual LEDs are mounted outside the premises and, if necessary, are supplied with fans for blowing and cooling.

Lighting device with fiber optic cable

The small diameter flexible fiber optic cable is an easy-to-place light source. Its, perhaps, the only drawback is the high directivity luminous flux. This feature must be taken into account at the design stage in order to apply design solutions for effective light scattering. With an optical fiber cable, you can literally bring light into the bath. Moreover, it can be both lighting in a sauna, steam room or other room, as well as lighting a sauna to get an original interior.

 • The use of fiber optic cable provides the most high level electrical safety. In this case, either the supply of voltage to the room for lighting needs is either significantly reduced or completely eliminated.
 • To obtain optical fiber strands, either transparent plastic or glass is used. They are designed for different temperatures, and glass threads are more heat resistant. This feature of fiber optic cables must be taken into account when designing and choosing a lighting system.

For getting original design interior and general lighting can be used LED strip for a bath. In some baths and saunas, a heat-resistant and IP-rated tape with LEDs can be used for lighting and illumination purposes. But the possibility of such an application must be indicated in its technical documentation.

To reduce the effect of high temperatures, which in some saunas can reach 120 degrees Celsius, forced water cooling can be applied to the LEDs. To do this, the tape is placed in a transparent tube made of plastic or glass. A current of water is created inside the tube.

At the lighting design stage, it is necessary to decide how to properly solve this technical problem. Water can be fed into the tube directly from the water supply. But then you get a significant consumption of cooling water. A more economical, but also more expensive technical solution may be to circulate a certain amount of water through a tube.

This will require an expansion tank and circulation pump. It will also be necessary to solve the problem with the accumulation of heat in water, the temperature of which will increase as the lighting works. The LED strip, evenly illuminating the entire space of the steam room or sauna, creates a pleasant diffused light. With such lighting, it is pleasant to bathe and take any bath procedures. To control the light of tapes in conditions of high humidity, it is necessary to use devices with the appropriate IP protection class.

But LED fiber optic lighting is the most expensive type of lighting for saunas and baths. If there are not enough funds for the budget of such a project, 36 volt incandescent lamps or 12 volt automotive halogen lamps can be used. More high voltage for lighting saunas and baths, the PUE is not allowed. Bath fixtures with such lamps must meet certain requirements:

 • mandatory grounding;
 • protection against splashes on the flask;
 • protection against mechanical damage;
 • suitability for work in conditions of high temperature and humidity.

Fluorescent lamps in the buildings of baths and saunas are used only in those rooms where the humidity does not exceed the values allowed for the use of 220 volt electrical equipment. Lamps in rooms where bath procedures are taken, including lighting in a steam room, are not made with these lamps. Electrical wiring for lighting steam rooms and saunas is made with heat-resistant wire. The use of an RCD is mandatory.

Our whole life consists of various trifles, the original combination of which presents life in a positive light. This definition works in any direction. And in the bath room, one is mutually beneficial combined with the other, and thanks to the right interaction, this comfort is created, in which you want to plunge again.

It would seem, what is the lighting in the bath? It is enough to install waterproof shades, and that's it ... But in reality this is not so. If you thoughtlessly approach this issue, then certain inconveniences will arise, and God forbid they flow into serious problems.

All rooms have their own lighting!

We will not delve too deeply into the rules for conducting electrical wiring in the bath, let's talk about the aesthetic side. It is clear that all lighting fixtures must be from the waterproof line. But more to the point. What light sources are best to install?

To begin with, let's repeat what rooms are in a modern bath. First of all, it is a steam room, a washing department, a dressing room, a rest room and, if possible, a pool, a bathroom, a terrace or an attic. Since many today consider themselves sophisticated bathhouse attendants, then the lighting for each room should be its own, fortunately various examples you can find plenty on the internet. And it is precisely in this direction that there are certain directives that must be strictly adhered to.

The heart of any bath. Lighting here should not be defiant, and not too bright. But the disadvantage is not recommended. Brightness irritates the eye, and muted tones, on the contrary, load, prompting a person to sleep. If, coupled with improper ventilation in the steam room, there will also be a lack of lighting, then you can forget about the charms and benefits. Having steamed up, drowsiness will immediately fall on you. The light must be chosen soft, diffused. With such lighting, a cozy and relaxing atmosphere is created.

It is necessary to place the lamps behind the back. When you bathe, they should not shine in your eyes. Hang them in the corners and on the back wall. Or, as is very fashionable now, make ceiling lighting. In this arrangement, turning in any direction during the procedures, the light will not fall into the eyes. For a steam room of small size, 2-3 small lamps are enough.

Washroom, swimming pool

Here, on the contrary, it is necessary to use lighting to the maximum. There should be no lack of light. More fixtures with dim lamps or a few with more powerful sources. Any location: wall, ceiling and even lighting built into the floor. The main thing is not to mount them close to water. Switches must be in the waiting room, that is, outside the aggressive environment.

Restroom

Regardless of the design: a bath with a veranda or an ordinary rest room, there should be enough light here, but in moderation. A full flight of fantasy is allowed. People with a rich imagination can give free rein to emotions and design lighting in any style. There are a lot of options, from the usual ceiling chandelier, to built-in lighting fixtures.

If there are no financial restrictions, you can use fiber-optic backlighting. Although this option is applicable to the steam room, but in the rest room, this design will look original. You can create a system of the starry sky, with stretch ceilings. It looks very nice and neither the backlight nor the material they are afraid of moisture, and it will be present here.

They look original in the rest room at the bathhouse, multi-contour lighting. If you need brightness, please need intimate environment, you can turn off some appliances. Not prohibited from using wall sconces. They create a unique atmosphere of peace and comfort.

Utility rooms

If the plan for the construction of a bath provides for such places, then light is also needed here. Originality and design are not required here, and as an option, the switches of all devices can be placed in the back room. For the illumination inner space, a conventional ceiling lamp with one incandescent lamp is enough.

What lamps to use?

Dismantling of devices, first the steam room is subject to. There are no tricks here, ordinary lamps are needed. They do their job well and are not afraid of high temperatures. A 40 or 60 watt lamp is enough. No LEDs, and vaunted energy-saving devices will not work here for a long time. According to the passport, they do not withstand temperatures above + 60 ° C. Halogen lamps are more susceptible, but they themselves get very hot, and the light from them is directional, but this is not necessary in the steam room.

There are no special requirements for other rooms. The main thing is that water from the drive or shower does not get on the lamps and there is enough light and the lamps themselves are protected from moisture. This is where you can save. For decorative purposes, IP-65 brand LEDs are used.

And of course, do not forget about safety. All work is carried out in strict accordance with the regulated standards. And here it is important to show originality and combine business with pleasure.

Proper arrangement of lighting in the bath is a rather difficult task, since in this case it is necessary not only to provide for a convenient location of the lamps, but also to observe all safety measures regarding mainly high humidity and temperature.

All equipment necessary for bath lighting must be selected in accordance with certain requirements. For example, lamps for a steam room should be made of heat-resistant material - porcelain, refractory plastic, ceramics, etc. The same can be said about electrical wiring.

First you need to carefully plan the conduct of the electrical cable. This procedure can be divided into two stages.

Stage 1. Summing up the electrical cable

In most cases, the cable is brought from the switchboard, which is located in the house. Sometimes the cable is led directly from the pole.

This can be done in one of two ways:

 • by air;
 • underground.

The first option is preferable in terms of time and material costs.

Important! Check the temperature before running the cable through the air environment. So, if it (temperature) can reach 40ᵒС, then the cable cross-section must be increased by about a quarter.

Only an insulated self-supporting cable is suitable for this, which does not need to be supported in the form of an additional wire, which cannot be said about standard products for outdoor use. Although this cable is more expensive.

For fixing, special fasteners are used to prevent sagging, and the cable is pulled into the bathhouse through the roof or wall.

Important! With regards to the metal from which the cable must be made, aluminum is, of course, much cheaper than copper. But due to some properties of this metal, the cross section of the aluminum cable must be larger than that of copper.

Stage 2. Internal installation

There are a number of requirements regarding the installation of internal wiring.

steam room

Lamps in the steam room are installed in special shades. Electrical wiring and fasteners are carefully insulated.

If you plan to install a window, then it is worth remembering that they can cause heat loss even with the smallest sizes. Therefore, thermal insulation is required. But if it is impossible to do without windows, then their dimensions should be minimal (about 50x50 cm). It is advisable to use double-glazed windows for this.

dressing room

The conditions in the dressing room are not so critical, therefore it is allowed to install any lighting equipment, in particular sockets and switches. According to experts, it is in this room that all devices and electrical appliances should be concentrated as much as possible.

A chandelier is usually installed on the ceiling, it is also possible to use several wall lamps. Sometimes LEDs are installed under the ceiling and shelves. In general, the dressing room is a wide field of activity for designer imagination.

Wash room, swimming pool

In this case, the brightest possible lighting is required. Due to acceptable climatic conditions, it is possible to use LED and fluorescent lamps, tapes, as well as multi-colored lighting for the jacuzzi.

Important! To install lamps in water, only hermetically sealed devices operating from low voltage should be selected.

At the same time, it is unacceptable to install switches and sockets where water can get on them (near the pool, shower, etc.). The class of all equipment used must be higher than IP-44 (“splash-proof” lamps), but as already mentioned, if possible, it is better to take the devices into the dressing room.

The best option for the washing room are IP-68 class LED strips, which are powered by low voltage (12 W). It is characteristic that they can be installed in water.

To equip the backlight in the bath, fiber-optic lamps are used. The popularity of this innovation is increasing every day, due to its significant advantages.

 1. Security. The essence of the backlight is that the lamps are installed outside the steam room. Fiberglass is only a conductor of visible radiation.
 2. Profitability. Fiberglass lamps consume a small amount of electricity.
 3. Polyfunctionality. Illumination can be equipped on the walls, ceiling, in the pool. Using the remote control, you can control the play of light, which provides a kind of light therapy.
 4. Space Saving - Fiber optic lamps are extremely thin and do not require the use of shades.

Usually, only the area near the bathhouse, which is visible from the house, is illuminated. When planning, you need to proceed from the following considerations:

 • the number of holes in the walls should be minimal;
 • external lighting should be economical;
 • the wiring should run as far as possible from the walls, especially from the insulating material;
 • the glow should be cold so that the structure does not heat up.

Stage 1. The electrical cable is laid between decorative coating and roof, attached to the bottom of the rafters. Lamps are installed, one of them is recommended to be installed above the entrance to illuminate the approach to the bath.

Stage 2. If used as a decorative trim plastic lining(and in most cases it is), then we choose Spotlights with a low profile. At the same time, the cartridges must be threaded - this will allow the use of a wider range of lamps.

At the bottom of the rafters, clamps for the corrugated hose necessary for laying the cable are attached in appropriate places.

Important! Due to the use of low power lamps, a wire with a cross section of 1x2 mm is used.

Stage 3. Now it's worth talking in more detail about the lamps that are required to illuminate the bath. They should be of low power (5 watts will be enough), with the exception of the one designed to be installed above front door(minimum 17 W). This provides several advantages at once:

 • saves electricity;
 • lining does not heat up;
 • warm air flows do not go under the roof.

If you install four lamps - one for each wall - then the total power of the external illumination will be as follows:

5W x 3 + 17W = 32W

Of course, this is not enough for full-fledged lighting, but to enhance the effect, you can use lamps with mirror bulbs - so the light will not scatter around.

Another way

Lighting the bath with your own hands can be provided in another way - install lamps in the ground about one and a half meters from the walls. But it will cost several times more, because the amount of materials spent and work performed will be large.

This will require:

 • landscape planning (there should be no obstacles in the way of light);
 • underground laying of cables;
 • hermetic lamps.

A competent bath lighting device will allow you to be content with its healing effect with maximum comfort. But the choice of one way or another still remains with the owner.

Video - Lighting in the bath

They did not use not only lamps, but even torches and candles, because the environment in the steam room was too humid and hot. Modern achievements allow you to hold rooms for every "taste and color" as they say. But considering temperature conditions steam room, the highest safety requirements are imposed on the wiring and they cannot be neglected. We will talk about how to properly make the lighting in the bath in the steam room with your own hands.

In most cases, a bathhouse is built near a residential building. Bath wiring required separate machine on the distribution board. Electrical wiring is carried out in two ways:

 • Underground. For laying the cable, a special box is prepared underground, laid through special holes in the foundation at a height of about half a meter. The entrance pipes to the bath should be 2 times larger than the cross section of the electric cable.
Choose high temperature lamps
 • Ground. The wiring stretches through the air at a height of at least 2.5 meters and enters the room through a wall hole or roof. The cable is used bare or self-supporting. The second type is more reliable and practical.

Advice. Each wire must have a separate entry pipe. We place it at a slight slope to protect it from oblique rain jets.

Basic rules for the "correct" wiring in the steam room

In order for the bath electrical wiring to function clearly and reliably, all its elements must be selected correctly, and installation work carried out in accordance with certain rules:

Do-it-yourself installation of a lighting system in a steam room

Before you start wiring, carefully consider the location of outlets and switches ( perfect place- dressing room / rest room). In addition, the cable should never run near heating appliances.

Lighting in the steam room is carried out as follows:

 1. We have pieces of wires in a special metal pipe that will be used for electrical wiring in the steam room. There must be at least two cables to connect two light elements. One of them will serve as a "safety net" in case the second one burns out.
 2. In the pair, the wiring is mounted exclusively of a closed type. In this regard, it is advisable to lay the electrical cable at the stage construction works in the bath or overhaul. We put the cable to the connection points of the lamps.
 3. We mount and carefully insulate ceramic cartridges on the wire ends.
 4. We mount lighting elements and hide them under heat-resistant housings made of porcelain or tempered glass (frosted). Wall lights must withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees, and ceiling lights up to 200.
 5. We close the lamps with special protective grilles that will prevent burns if they are accidentally touched.

Advice. Try not to mount fixtures on the ceiling due to elevated temperatures. The best place would be the part of the wall located under the ceiling. In addition, in this way you will be able to create a subdued relaxing light.

Practical tips for choosing lighting fixtures for the steam room

The steam room in the bath helps us not only to warm up and steam the body, but also to relax and unwind. Therefore, the lighting for the steam room should be appropriate: muffled, weak, tuning in to a wave of relaxation.

Given the temperature characteristics of this room, the lamps must be extremely heat-resistant and absolutely hermetic, made of special materials. The best place to place the fixtures will be the corners and parts of the walls under the ceiling.

Among the variety of fixtures, fiber optics will be the best options for a steam room. They not only provide the right lighting, but also have a higher level of safety compared to conventional incandescent lamps.

In the steam room it is better to place a bath with yellow light

Never use fluorescent lamps in a steam room, as when heated, they can explode and spread mercury vapor around the room. Too powerful incandescent lamps will also not work - they will heat the protective grilles for lamps. A power of 75 watts will be enough.

As for the shades, the most popular among builders are anti-fog matte or pastel colors. Additional lighting in the area of shelves and at floor level will look very stylish, moreover, it will only enhance the relaxing atmosphere of the room.

We told you about how to do the wiring in the steam room correctly. As you can see, everything is not so difficult, the main thing is to follow the safety rules and choose high-quality light elements from suitable materials. Good luck!

Wiring in the bath: video

Associated with certain precautions and compliance with regulations for humid and hot environments. All other rooms can be considered not much different from the rooms of a residential building.

However, sometimes you need to fully clarify some issues in order to free your head for more pleasant worries. In general, let's go through the topic "lighting in the bath" as fully as possible, and if some points have already been described in individual materials- follow the links, there you will find a lot of useful information.

Listen to article

About light

Since we are talking about a fairly standard structure in most cases, we will highlight several zones, which will be discussed later:

 • steam room;
 • washing;
 • restroom;
 • dressing room;
 • veranda.

All of them can be present in both Russian and Finnish, so we will describe the difference between lighting in a sauna and a bath only for steam room.

steam sauna

The steam room seems to be the same, and there are a lot of stove manufacturers that guarantee the possibility of switching from one mode to another, but in practice it is still different steam rooms- and there are different, and ways, and even the structure.

But will the lighting for saunas and baths be different? However, first things first.

Underfloor sauna lighting

Heat resistant lamps

Everyone knows that the Finnish sauna hotter Russian. Therefore, it is not surprising that all lighting equipment in it must have increased heat resistance. Manufacturers go forward and produce lamps with a ceramic / aluminum base and borosilicate (heat-resistant) glass. However, a separate article on our website is devoted to heat-resistant lamps, their features and what can be found on sale. We recommend reading it.

What to put in a Russian steam room

But in the Russian steam room, the heat is not so much as humidity. Of course, under the ceiling, where the steam collects, the temperature is not low, but Ceiling lights are generally not recommended., so moisture protection is still more important than thermal protection.

But there is one caveat: the differences between a sealed lamp with increased moisture protection, intended for a sauna, and a bath lamp are very small, and there is no reason for manufacturers to produce any special models for each variety.

And if you want to save money - you can buy a ceiling plastic, not glass. But we have so many fans of mixing vaping modes that this savings may not be particularly justified.

This issue is discussed in detail on this one.

In general, let's say that the choice in stores is sufficient, but you need to look at models that have base(where the cartridge is) non-flammable, and choose the ceiling according to what numbers the thermometer in the steam room usually shows and what temperature this or that plastic is designed for (the manufacturer must indicate the limits).

In the washing

But we didn’t really write about this. washing- a room with high humidity, with splashes flying in all directions. It is for such cases that dust and moisture protection standards have been developed, which are divided into several classes.

According to regulations PUE, minimum protection class, which can be used in wet room- this IP44. However, the last digit means that a device with this protection class is not afraid of only the smallest drops of water, it is protected from its "spray in any direction."

If the last digit is 5, then such a device is no longer afraid of weak and medium-strength jets of water falling on it. 6 - not afraid of the strong, but 7 And 8 - this is already a question of the duration of the complete immersion of the device in water.

IMPORTANT! Keep in mind that taking a lamp with a margin of protection is to increase its cost. Therefore, proceed from real dangers - far from the soul, 4 is enough, next to it - 5.

The base of the lamp is also desirable non-flammable, for example, ceramic or aluminum. And the rest - the same requirements as in the bathroom. The temperatures in the washing room are low, thermal protection is not required at all. Tightness is a must.. Once again, we recall that silicone gaskets live longer.

Regarding the lamps: they are suitable any, whichever you wish. LEDs they will live for a long time, the temperatures in the washing room are comfortable for them. The rest (incandescent, halogen, optical fiber) are also suitable. Here the question is exclusively the master's choice, because saving electricity in the bath is somehow strange, given the frequency of use.

In the rest room

If our washing room was similar to the bathroom of a residential building, then the lighting in the bathhouse in the rest room can be likened to the light in living room, for example, living room.

So, it can be anything - chandeliers, sconces, table lamps, floor lamps. If it is forbidden to make sockets in the steam room and washing room, then this does not apply to the rest room. Lamps, again, whatever, without restrictions.

You can do three options: daytime, top light, sconce. If the rest room is large enough window, then in the daytime there will be enough sunlight. Above the table area should be placed chandelier, which will give bright lighting during the feast. Later, the overhead light can be changed to a subdued warm light sconce, placed around the perimeter of the room.

If you come across a good designer who can successfully combine, say, a log house and point light sources, then this option will be good.

In the dressing room

Not everyone has a dressing room, and if there is, then it is usually a rather small room, practically - vestibule or hallway analogue. There is enough and one light source.

However, some room for imagination remains in this case. Of course, you can buy the simplest lamp, something like the one you put in a washing or steam room, only without moisture and thermal protection. These can often be found in stores, they are very expensive. cheap.

On the other hand, what prevents you from setting, for example, hanging lantern, which will look very stylish in the dressing room (on the veranda, by the way, too).

IN winter time the chapel can get very cold, so where there are severe frosts, it might be worth considering installing it here street lamp.

Yet again, lamps put at your discretion.

On the veranda

There is also a veranda not in every bath, but even over the porch Some kind of lighting needs to be provided.

ATTENTION! Use Street lights, for example, point or suspended.

By the way, if there stairs, then the best option there would be such a light that does not hit the eyes. This is either downward light from lamps with shade, or contour lighting the steps themselves, but not too bright LED strips.

Table on the veranda, like the table in the rest room, should be well lit. Actually, porch and zone table- this is all that needs to be illuminated, the rest needs additional light if this is not enough.

How to DIY

Let's begin with taking on lighting in the bath with your own hands is only worth it if you have the appropriate experience. Don't make this your first experiment.

First, of course, you need to develop a scheme.

Scheme

There are no universal schemes. You always need to start from your realities and adapt the theory to them. We do not know what size your room is. But there is illumination criteria, however, they are for living quarters, but you can figure out that the washing room = bathroom, rest room = living room, dressing room = hallway ...

 • Bathroom, toilet - 50 lumens per square meter;
 • Living room - 150;
 • Hallway - 50-75;
 • Bath, sauna - 100.

All these figures are taken from SNiP.

you know area each of the premises. Multiply the area by the given numbers - you get amount of light in lumens required for this space. It remains to be divided into the luminous flux of the selected type and power of light bulbs, and so you will find out what you need number of lamps.

It remains only to distribute them. Focus on which areas need the most lighting. Where you need to see what you are doing, you need more light. And this means that already at the level of the project it is worth arranging the furniture the way it will then stand in real life.

Lampshades: how to do it yourself

Shade is an external decorative or protective layer lamp, which is not always required. For example, in the steam room are used wooden lampshades to make the light stream more subdued, softer, and also in order to create additional protection against moisture and mechanical damage for the glass body of the plafond.

A whole section on our website is devoted to specific bath lampshades. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with it for those who would like to make such a design for their steam room.

12 volt

Do I need to run a low voltage network? The main argument of its supporters is the safety of the current flowing in it for human health. Indeed, 12 volts will not kill a person. But 220 would not have killed him if you put RCD at 30 mA. Therefore, you should not talk about the exclusivity of this method to secure the use of electricity in the bath.

Lighting in a 12 volt bath is created either using a step-down transformer, which is placed, for example, in the electrical panel, or with the help of a specific drivers, what is it called now power unit for LEDs.

Lamps that operate at such a low voltage are primarily LEDs. But it may also be halogens(only point sources).

LED lightening

LEDs are great for interiors and exteriors, they can be the main light and backlight. One problem - they can't stand the heat. Therefore, you can use them in a bath, and even more so in a sauna, only if you agree to compromise: you put them where it is not very hot, and they do not work for the full period declared by the manufacturer.

Mostly a low-voltage network is created for the steam room and washing– it is humid there and concerns about electricity are the greatest. As for washing - no problem. But in the steam room LEDs are best to put closer to the floor where the temperature is the lowest. Yes, you yourself saw that the backlight is usually done behind the back and under the shelves.

It is not clear what is the point of putting LED lamps in the steam room that are powered by 220 V, if it makes sense to do safe voltage.

However, these and other issues are discussed in a separate article about LED lighting in the bath.
