Do-it-yourself smokehouse from a gas cylinder. Smokehouse from a gas cylinder, how to make your own hands video, photo Hot smoked smokehouse from a gas cylinder drawings

The assembly of the smokehouse is available to everyone. It can be built from those materials that were waiting for a better time that large ones are not needed in the household. An option could be a do-it-yourself smokehouse from a gas cylinder. It can be implemented in several ways. One of the most the best options is a smokehouse with several compartments that have their own purpose.

What is smoking

Most often, smokehouses are built for a specific type of smoking. It can take place at elevated temperature or chilled smoke. Therefore, it received such a name: cold and hot smoking. In cold smoking, the smoke travels a certain distance through the pipe to cool down before being fed into the main smoking chamber. It should be within 25 degrees Celsius in temperature. For hot smoking, everything is a little simpler. In this case, you can use almost any container, on the bottom of which wood chips are poured and a fire is kindled under it. It is enough to close such a smokehouse well so that the smoke remains inside. The process takes several hours as opposed to several days with cold smoking. But if you decide to assemble a smokehouse from a cylinder, then it will be a universal solution and will be able to please you even with a barbecue.

Required tools and consumables

Some work on the manufacture of such a smokehouse will require work with a welding machine, so you can make sure in advance that a friend or craftsman helps in the construction of the smokehouse if such a unit is not available in the household. In addition, you will need:

  • Bulgarian;
  • chalk for marking;
  • roulette;
  • three pairs of loops;
  • pipe ¾";
  • sheet material 4 mm thick;
  • reinforcement bars with a diameter of 5 mm;
  • drill;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • three gas bottles.

Due to the fact that the project of the smokehouse is individual for everyone, additional components may be needed, which can be purchased along the way.

Balloon preparation

The balloon itself is ideal option for making a smokehouse. It is made of durable and high-quality metal with sufficient wall thickness, which will warm up well over the entire surface. Also, you do not have to carry out complex procedures for creating a smokehouse shape. Thanks to the cylindrical inner space the air in the smokehouse will circulate the best way. First of all, the balloon must be well inspected from all sides. It is important to assess whether there are places affected by rust and how deep it is. After an external assessment, the cylinder should be rid of the remaining propane that was stored in it. All actions are preferably carried out in cool, dry weather. It is advisable to choose open space, next to which there will be no source of sparks and fire.

The valve is unscrewed to the maximum possible size. The hole where the gas comes from is better to turn into the wind. Propane is heavier than air, so it can sink to the bottom, in order to get it from the bottom of the cylinder, it is necessary to turn the cylinder over with an open valve and wait until the substance comes out. You can leave the balloon in the open position for a day. To make sure the bottle is completely empty, you can make soapy water and use a washcloth to apply it to the hole. If bubbling is observed, then the residue is still coming out. Now you can proceed to the basic steps for making a smokehouse from a gas cylinder.

Using a hand saw, it is necessary to cut the valve with a mounting hole for it. It is better not to use the grinder for now in order to comply with all security measures. While working with a hacksaw for metal, it is necessary to lubricate the cut with water from time to time. On the one hand, this will cool the web, and on the other hand, it will minimize the likelihood of sparks. After gaining access to the inside of the cylinder, it must be filled with water to get rid of the smell. This will help the addition of ammonia to the liquid. The settling will take several hours. After that, you can rinse the bottle several times with running water.

Making the main compartment

It makes no sense to bring diagrams and drawings, because everyone will proceed from what is available. Gas cylinders also come in various sizes. In this design, cylinders of 50 and 20 or 30 liters will be used. The door can be made in two ways. One of them involves cutting a smokehouse cylinder into two parts. One of them will serve as a cover. But with this method it is more difficult to keep the temperature at the required level, so it is better to cut it directly into the wall. With the help of a crayon, lines are drawn along which the grinder will cut. The cut is done in several stages to make it as even as possible. Particular attention should be paid to places where the cylinder is bent. It is worth being careful so that the canvas does not bite.

No need to cut the rectangle to the end. If it is dismantled, then it will be more difficult to try it on in its place. Therefore, loops are applied first. Under them, markings are made both on the cylinder and on the door. Small tacks are used to fix the loops on the future smokehouse. After that, the final alignment and welding of all seams is carried out. Once the task is completed, you can easily draw the line of the smokehouse door with the grinder to the end. A handle is attached to the roof of the smokehouse, for which it can be lifted. You will also need to make additional supports for the smokehouse door so that it does not fall inward. To do this, two strips of metal 2 cm wide are welded along the edges of the hole in the smokehouse. They must be bent in the shape of the arc of the cylinder.

Note! Someone prefers not to weld the hinges to the smokehouse, but to fix them on the bolts. In some cases, this solution is actually quite practical, as the hinges are easy to replace. It is important to remember that the bolts should not have a specific coating, because after heating the smokehouse will have harmful emissions.

To strengthen the design of the cylinder, a ¾ inch pipe is welded in the middle along the entire length. It will not allow the walls of the smokehouse to deform at high temperatures. You can also use stainless steel hooks to hang meat to be cooked by hot smoking on it. Additionally, a grate can be built in the middle of the smokehouse. You can make it yourself from rebar or modify those found in old refrigerators.

Firebox manufacturing

For the firebox, you can use half a 50 liter bottle or a 20 liter bottle. It must be taken out separately in order to achieve the effect of smoking, because, otherwise, you get an ordinary grill. In the bottom of the cylinder for 50 liters, a hole is cut out half the height. The same hole is made in the bottom of the smaller cylinder. Following the model of a cylinder for a smokehouse, a door is made through which firewood will be loaded. The holes are aligned with each other and tack welding is performed using a welding machine. After the correct position of the two modules becomes apparent, the seam is applied. From the opposite side, holes are made in the furnace cylinder, which will serve as a blower. They are made adjustable in order to control the intensity of burning, and, accordingly, smoking. Additionally, it is possible to provide fasteners for the grate, where it will be possible to fry the grill.

Advice! If there is no second cylinder available, then the firebox can be built from sheet material. It can be square or rectangular.

Installation of the cold smoking compartment

The main chamber of the smokehouse is designed for hot smoking, because the temperature in it reaches values of 80 degrees or more. In order to carry out the process and cold smoking in such a smokehouse, you will need another chamber. For its construction, you will need another balloon. Its preparation is carried out in the same way as the cylinder used for the main chamber of the smokehouse. The door is made the same size so that you can freely place meat for smoking inside. Several rods are fixed across the cylinder, on which the meat will be hung for smoking.

The hole left in the cold smoking chamber after the valve has been cut off will be used as a chimney. You can weld a small pipe to it. It is necessary to make a damper in it so that the smoke lingers inside, and not blown out. A hole is cut from below half the thickness of the cylinder, the same hole is cut in the upper part of the end of the chamber for hot smoking. They are combined in such a way that the cold smoking cylinder is in a vertical position. How it is done is shown in the photo below. good decision will equip the hot and cold smoking chamber with thermometers, which are sold separately for grills.

In order for the design of the smokehouse to be stable, you need to take care of the stand. It is worth remembering that due to the two additional modules, the legs will have to be slightly apart in order for the smokehouse to be stable. You can make legs for a smokehouse from reinforcement bars or square pipe. If they are supposed to be removable, then they are fixed on bolts and nuts, and not on welding. Their length must be calculated in such a way that the height of the hot smoking chamber is at the level of 1 meter. An additional partition can be made between the legs of the smokehouse, on which a shelf for firewood or other accessories is mounted. If the smokehouse will need to be moved frequently, then it makes sense to install two wheels from a children's bike.

Advice! Do-it-yourself smokehouse can be made from old gas stove. In this case, the cylinder will serve as a smoke generator. You will need to make a hose supply through which smoke will flow for smoking. To install the grates for smoking, everything is ready, because there are special grooves. In addition, through the window it will be possible to control the smoking process. An example of such a smokehouse can be seen in the video below.

Chip harvesting

Along with the construction of the smokehouse, the preparation of wood chips for smoking is an important step in the entire project. If raw materials are harvested from unsuitable wood, then the result will not be the best. That is why the use of coniferous trees is avoided. The reason is the abundance of resins that are contained in wood. When smoking, the resins will evaporate and settle on the smoke paths and on the firebox itself. In addition, they give a bitter aftertaste when smoked, which can spoil the product and nullify all strength. Great solution for smoking there will be wood of dense breeds. These include oak, hornbeam, beech, alder. When harvesting, it is worth remembering that the chips should not be too small. It cannot withstand high temperatures and may ignite. A larger one with a size of 3 cm or more smolders beautifully and emits a sufficient amount of smoke for smoking.

Fruit trees, for example, cherry and apple, also showed themselves well when smoking. It is not necessary to cut live branches from them in order to achieve the desired result. It is enough to save the remains after seasonal pruning. To use wood for smoking, it is necessary to remove the bark from it and only then grind it into chips. The bark contains a large amount of resins, which will have an unpleasant effect on the final product. The use of juniper and currant branches in small quantities is encouraged.

Output

Building your own smokehouse is a busy and sometimes difficult process. But it allows you to acquire new skills and delight the family with delicacies. You can always make a small camping option from a small balloon and take it with you when you go out into nature by car. There you can smoke freshly caught fish.

A thrifty owner can always breathe life into old unnecessary things. Someone may have an old one lying around in the back rooms gas cylinder out of propane. You should not give it away for scrap, because just one day of work and you will get an excellent smokehouse from a gas cylinder with your own hands.

The originality of the product will be given by the shape of the balloon, while you will need a small set of tools, which can be found in almost any craftsman. As a result of the efforts spent, the family will receive delicacies from fish, meat, lard or poultry.

Preparing for production

The gas cylinder is an excellent blank for not only a smokehouse, but also a barbecue. However, it is advisable to choose a container that is not damaged by significant corrosion, as this will affect the durability of the product. Also, all work must be carried out only after the remaining gas and gasoline are correctly removed from the cavity.

Video - how to make a smokehouse from a cylinder yourself (brief instruction):

If all the work is done correctly, the product will last an average of 15-20 years, which is much longer than those bought in a store.

It will be necessary to stock up on such materials and tools:

  • gas cylinder (capacity for domestic gas red color 50 l);
  • sheet metal(thickness 3-4 mm);
  • about 6 m of a building corner with a wall of 45 mm (in some cases it can be replaced with a building profile of 20x40 mm);
  • chimney pipe (length 100-120 cm, diameter 100-120 mm);
  • door hinges (it is desirable to choose a metal thickness of at least 2 mm);
  • rods for the lattice (diameter 8-10 mm reinforcement, square or hexagon is not advisable to take);
  • wooden blanks for handles (well-dried blanks made of birch or other dense species);
  • grinder (preferably with a soft start);
  • welding machine(electrodes will need 2-3 mm);
  • electric drill (drills must be selected with a minimum length to ensure rigidity during operation);
  • hacksaw for metal (a blade with a fine tooth is placed).

Working with a balloon

After choosing a cylinder, it is necessary to visually check it for deep corrosion. Next, you need to get rid of the condensate and gas remaining in it. Pre-take out the container in an open space in the yard or other area. It is preferable to work in dry sunny weather. There should be no open source of fire near the work site.

Open the valve as much as possible. After the intensive phase, turn the container over to remove residues. You can check whether the gas has completely escaped using an ordinary soap slurry. Lubricate the valve with it. When bubbles stop appearing, it means that the pressure inside is equal to the outside.

From the top of the future barbecue smokehouse from a gas cylinder with my own hands we cut down the neck with a faucet with a hacksaw.

When cutting off the top, in no case allow a spark to appear. In this case, it is necessary to periodically pour water over the treatment site to eliminate the risk of fire. The cut must be wet.

We wash the opened cavity with running water to get rid of the smell. It is convenient to fill the volume with water using a hose. If it is not inserted into the hole formed, then fill everything through the funnel.

Adding to water will be effective ammonia. We leave the cylinder with such a solution for several hours to settle. You can periodically stir the liquid. After draining the residue, rinse again with running water.

Making the base for the smokehouse

Any preliminary drawings for making a smokehouse with your own hands from a gas cylinder are unlikely to be needed. Most often, manufacturers expect final result from the material that is available.

In general, such a scheme of a vertical smokehouse can be useful, where you can use an electric stove.

The marking of cuts for the door is carried out using a long ruler and a pencil. You can duplicate the strips with thin white chalk.

The cuts will need to be done carefully without displacement, not reaching 100-150 mm along the axis before the beginning of the rounding of the balloon ends (“top” and “bottom”). It is not necessary to open the slots immediately.

Having made long axial grooves with a grinder, we try on the loops in their places. We clean the surface for welding with a metal brush fixed on a drill. Some craftsmen clean the area under the hinges with a grinder. The method is practical, but aesthetics are not always preserved. We “grab” overhead loops by welding.

You can also later fix them with rivets or bolts. At the same time, no coating on rivets or other fasteners is allowed to exclude harmful fumes near food. A more popular option for fastening the loops is the final welding with electrodes. When the hinges are welded, then the grooves separating the door from the frame are completely opened.

From the side to which the crane was attached, we weld a pipe elbow to the barbecue smokehouse from a gas cylinder with our own hands.

The height of the vertical section must be at least a meter. This will ensure high-quality traction and efficient smoldering of chips during the process. A damper closing the upper end will help control traction vertical pipe. In some designs, the damper fits into a cut groove in the pipe.

The second end is connected to the firebox for the smokehouse. To do this, cut out the lower half of the end diameter with a grinder. When using such a smokehouse as a barbecue, the draft in the former gas cylinder will be regulated using this cut sector.

During operation, thermal deformations of the manufactured container are possible. Strengthening the structure will help reduce their impact. To do this, along the axis of the cylinder in the middle of the hole closed by the lid, we weld a tube with a diameter of 20-30 mm from the inside. It will also serve as a stopper to help prevent the lid from falling deeper. Another function of the pipe is that products for smoking are suspended from it. This can also be done through holes drilled in the frame.

Welded metal strips along the perimeter of the cover will help to ensure the tightness of the cavity. They can also serve as a limiter when closed. A horseshoe-shaped loop on the outside can prevent the lid from falling back sharply.

At the bottom of such smokehouses from do-it-yourself gas cylinders, a special tray is installed that serves as a container for collecting fat. In order not to smear the capacity of the cylinder, it is advisable to cover the tray with food foil. Bases for a metal removable grille are attached above the pallet. You can make it yourself with your own hands from rods of stainless steel wire or use a ready-made unnecessary grate left over from an old refrigerator.

Making a stand (legs or support)

A do-it-yourself smokehouse made from a gas cylinder as in the photo must be stable so as not to overturn coals and products. For this, legs are attached to it. If you intend to use the device as a portable product, then it would be wiser to make them removable. Their convenient length will be 80-100 cm.

To do this, we weld bolts to the base of the former cylinder, and weld nuts to the prepared legs from a corner or building profile. Before transportation, we unscrew the legs, and at the place of arrival we return them to their original position.

More often, the base is fixed, but rigidly welded to the base of the cylinder. For greater convenience, you can replace a pair of legs with a pair of wheels. Transportation around the nearest territory will be simplified. Comfort for stationary legs will be added by several crossbars or a full-fledged shelf under the balloon. In the process of cooking, a usable area is always useful.

Firebox for smokehouse

If this unit is supposed to be used not as a smokehouse, but only as a brazier from gas cylinders, then an additional firebox is not needed. If the owner intends to smoke, then the fire will need to be lit in an additional container.

Additional firebox made of welded steel sheets

To make a firebox, you will need to cut a sheet of metal 3-4 mm thick. It is also possible to cut another cylinder of smaller volume. Two holes in the opposite end walls are left to interface with the smoking chamber and to install the damper. The third hole is necessary for laying wood chips that form smoke smoke.

Additional firebox from another cylinder

Even a slight removal of the smoking chamber from the firebox with sawdust will help to prevent the entry of an open flame. This is done by cutting a pipe. In some designs, its role is played by a special corrugation.

The length of the finished smokehouse will help determine the final result, because hot smoking uses smoke at a higher temperature. Cold smoking requires practically cooled smoke.

The most important thing is that before the first smoking, you should definitely skip the unit idle - heat it with firewood, but without meat.

In the video, an example of a barbecue grill is a brazier smokehouse, made by hand from three 50-liter gas cylinders.

To date, among summer residents and owners country houses the topic of creating all kinds of barbecues, smokehouses, barbecues, stoves, etc. is popular. People began to relax more with their families on weekends, gathering at the dacha to fry barbecue, what could be better fresh air and deliciously cooked barbecue))

But in order to cook everything soundly and with high quality, you need a brazier-smokehouse-barbecue, for example, the author made this miracle from old gas cylinders. At first, the master simply made a barbecue grill from a cylinder, then he wanted to improve his creation and he added another small 25-liter cylinder as a smokehouse firebox, and a large cylinder acts as a smoking chamber. The compartments communicate with each other, the small one is located at a lower level in order to form a draft and the smoke independently passes into the smoking compartment.

A small cylinder can also be used as a brazier or a barbecue, there is only one grate to fit there, and there are 2 times less skewers, but in total with a large cylinder you can increase the productivity of shish kebab / hour)))

And so, let's look at what is required to create a smokehouse-brazier-barbecue?

materials

1. 25 l gas cylinder
2. armature
3. 50mm metal pipe
4. sheet metal 2-3 mm (for damper)
5. hinges 2 pcs
6. pen holders
7. pipe 50 mm long 1.5 m
8. lid opening limiter (fittings)

Instruments

1. grinder (UShM)
2. welding machine
3. drill
4. hammer
5. file
6. ruler
7. marker
8. pliers

Step-by-step instructions for making a do-it-yourself smokehouse-brazier-barbecue.

As mentioned above, the author already had the main brazier from a gas cylinder (By the way, the site has previous material on how to make a brazier and cut a gas cylinder correctly) But the master decided to improve his design and increase its functionality, and as a result, productivity , adding another small compartment to the existing barbecue.

An old 25 liter gas cylinder was taken as the starting material (see the site for how to cut a gas cylinder). The cylinder was cut in compliance with all safety regulations.

Then, in its end part, with the help of a grinder, a technological hole in the form of an ellipse was cut out, two cylinders will be connected through it.

After that, the master proceeds to the manufacture of the cover of a small cylinder, namely, he makes markings with a marker and makes a cut with a grinder along the intended contour, but you do not need to cut everything right away. We make one cut and immediately weld the hinges, and only then the entire lid is sawn out.

Loops welded on.

At the opposite end of the small cylinder, another technological hole is made in the shape of a triangle; it will serve as a blower and regulate the air flow into the combustion chamber.

On a large cylinder in its end part, a hole is also made for installing a chimney pipe.

Pipe diameter 50 mm length 1.5 m.

Here's what actually happens.

Holders for a pen are welded onto a small balloon, and the wooden handle itself is made from a shovel handle.

A limiter made of reinforcement is also welded for a certain opening angle of the brazier lid.

A damper is installed, it is slightly larger than the hole itself and serves to regulate the air supply and draft, respectively.

After the firewood disperses, we turn the damper to a minimum in order to maintain smoldering in the combustion chamber.

Firewood is desirable to use alder, very fragrant smoked meats are obtained on them) The author smoked chicken wings and sausages, smoked for an hour.

Periodically, you should open the lid of the smoking chamber and check the condition of the product.

Gourmet restaurant dishes or a classic barbeque cooked on an open fire - all this can be prepared quickly by creating a do-it-yourself smokehouse from a gas cylinder.

Such a brazier-smokehouse will allow not only to cook delicious dishes in the country, nature or on a hike, but also maintain an ecological balance, since the container will be reused.

Variety of species

For making barbecue on their own, you will need to decide on the design of the product, develop or order a drawing from a professional in order to avoid mistakes and shortcomings during the assembly of the structure.

Barbecue smokehouses are of the following types:

  • folding, also called mobile or portable, they are convenient for transportation, especially when traveling to nature;
  • portable, with handles for easy movement;
  • stationary barbecues (installed in a pre-prepared place), relevant for cottages and country houses.

In most cases, a homemade design is an old cylinder that has run out of natural gas.

Additional materials used for the manufacture of smokehouses:

  • stone (you can use decorative or natural, different forms and sizes);
  • bricks (different colors);
  • steel or sheet metal.

To give the structure an aesthetic appearance, it is recommended to overlay it with a brick or make a cladding using tiles - you get a kind of oven.

Master's advice: before starting work on the manufacture of a brazier-smokehouse, you will need to carefully study all the necessary technical information, find suitable drawings, prepare materials and tools.

Design features

There are some features of this invention, which must be taken into account, because every author wants the design to be durable, reliable and completely safe in operation.

We list the main advantages of a home-made invention:

  • low cost, since all materials are at hand;
  • high reliability during intensive operation;
  • the ability to create exclusive models according to your own drawings.

A balloon brazier assembled in accordance with all the rules, despite its low cost, will become an adornment of a suburban area.

It can be made non-standard, for example, by giving the shape of a steam locomotive. Also, this term is called a brazier, which has a high pipe through which smoke is released during use of the product.

It is interesting that all work related to the connection of elements is performed using a welding machine.

Interesting fact: a brazier from an old unnecessary gas cylinder is not only cost savings, but also protection environment. Instead of polluting nature, it turns out useful thing at home.

The classic cylinder has very strong, thick walls that do not burn through for quite a long time. This can also be attributed to the advantages.

What is needed for work

What is required to create an unusual design:

  • empty gas cylinder (optimal tank capacity is 50 -70 l);
  • a metal pipe or other blank (to create a reliable chimney, if provided for by the smokehouse project);
  • a few hinges and metal rivets to secure the barbecue cover;
  • metal rods to create an independent grate in the smokehouse (8-10 mm thick);
  • building corners;
  • sheet metal.

Set of tools:

  • medium power welding machine;
  • Bulgarian;
  • gas wrenches of various sizes;
  • hacksaw (for metal);
  • drill with interchangeable drill bits.

Do not forget that when dealing with welding, a special protective mask is required.

Note: a person who has never been involved in welding should trust the professional masters. All tools are traumatic, you need to handle them carefully and carefully, be careful in work.

Stages of work

Drawings will help to make a convenient grill from an old gas cylinder. Additionally, it will be necessary to carry out work on its creation and installation.

The first and one of the most important stages is a visual inspection and preparation of the container, which in the future will allow the production of hot and cold way smoking.

After choosing a cylinder of suitable size, it is necessary to carry out a visual inspection - to determine the presence or make sure that there are no signs of corrosion.

Tank cleaning

Each container has a valve that must be unscrewed completely. This should be done smoothly, as gas vapors may remain in the cylinder. After that, the cylinder must be turned over to remove the remaining gas.

For reliability, you can rinse the tank with water. To control the process and make sure that there are no dangerous fumes, ordinary foam created from soap or dishwashing detergent, which should be applied to a closed valve, will help.

It is important: if you apply soapy foam to the closed valve of the gas cylinder and see bubbles form, the cylinder is not completely empty. If there are no bubbles, then there is no gas, and cutting and welding work will be completely safe.

Then cut off the valve with a grinder, and pour the most ordinary water inside. This process will help free the container from possible dirt and dust.

These measures will avoid the formation of sparks and ignition..

Starting to cut

The next step is cutting the balloon.

As professionals advise, the incision should be made longitudinal. You will get two halves, not necessarily equal in size. One of them will serve as a barbecue, the other - a lid.

The construction of the legs will serve not only as a support for the structure, but also decorate the future barbecue.

The material can be old, not rusty, undamaged pipes or forged coasters. They are fixed with strong and also not rusty bolts.

Cover and leg attachment

For reliable installation of the lid, which will allow you to carry out the smoking process faster, you should make holes for the hinges. Produced in stages:

  • fixing with rivets and/or bolts;
  • welding is carried out.

After the hinges are securely fastened, the handles that will be required for opening / closing are mounted. Fastening is also done with bolts. In the place where the cylinder valve was located, a chimney is mounted.

The firebox is a special part of the design. This element is required if it is intended to make a smokehouse from a cylinder. For its manufacture, steel sheets will be required, which will need to be cut and welded to certain sizes.

A smaller can, cut lengthwise and welded in the required place, can act as a firebox. The final stage is the strengthening of the smokehouse. To do this, weld the corners along the edges of the structure.

There is no doubt that while using a homemade barbecue, the container will inevitably wear out and deform. There is one secret how to extend the service life - weld a corner to the inner walls.

A smokehouse firebox is not needed as a separate element. Indeed, when creating a brazier, we achieve tightness, integrity of all constituent elements. For added protection in winter period the smokehouse can be placed in an old gas cabinet.

Exposure to heat, atmospheric precipitation and other negative natural phenomena can damage the metal parts of the structure.

If you want the brazier-smokehouse, created from an old unnecessary cylinder, to serve for several years and not lose its attractiveness and production characteristics, you need to protect outside structures - paint or treat with a composition that prevents corrosion.

According to the reviews of masters, lovers of doing everything with their own hands, this product is a convenient, modern, durable, unusual appearance device.

It will surely attract the attention of your guests and friends, if you properly treat the manufacturing process, do everything neatly, correctly and reliably. By inviting guests to your dacha, you and your invention will be in the spotlight, the weekend will be unusual, fun and interesting.

Thus, crafts from an old propane tank can give it a second life. Such smokehouses are often made, so finding a suitable drawing is not difficult.

Master's advice: the main thing in the manufacture of a smokehouse from a gas cylinder is compliance with safety regulations and the use of only high-quality materials that do not have corrosion or other damage.

Watch the video in which the master tells in detail how to make a barbecue-smokehouse from a gas cylinder with your own hands:

The stores have a large selection of finished products, but it is more profitable to make the desired unit yourself. Do-it-yourself smokehouse from a gas cylinder is what you need. How to make it?

To make the product we need, we need to find a durable, non-rusty gas cylinder. The AG-50 with a capacity of more than 50 liters is perfect. The shape of the gas cylinder is very convenient for the manufacture of equipment for smoking food.

Step-by-step instructions for preparing the container:

Important! Ensure that the gas is fully vented so that welding can be carried out safely.

After preparatory work you need to cut the balloon. To do this, use a grinder or metal cutters. The cylinder must be placed on one side and the smokehouse lid should be marked with chalk along its entire length, at a distance of 10 cm from the edges. Leave room for loops.

We attach the hinges to the door, the usual ones for the door will do. You can fix them with bolts, but it is better to weld them. Clean up any sharp saw cuts so as not to injure your hands. On the door you need to make a handle of refractory material. Such products are sold in hardware stores.

Basically, smokehouses are made as tall as regular table, from about 85 to 100 cm. The legs and stand for our product can be made from metal corners. It is important to weld these parts well, because the balloon is quite heavy.

For a portable smokehouse, legs should be made that can be unscrewed. At the bottom of the cylinder, we drill holes and insert bolts with the thread outward into them. We fasten the nuts to the legs.

The legs at the bottom should have supports or corners for stability.

Smoking products is hot and cold. Hot-smoked fish and meat cook faster, as they are intensively affected heat and smoke.

Cold smoked products are cooked for up to three days. They keep much longer.

When making a smokehouse, you should decide on what technology you will use to cook food.

Making a hot smoked smokehouse:

Hot smoking is only possible at high temperatures.

Received products are stored no more than 20 days.

Cold smoked smokehouse

Unlike a smokehouse for hot smoking, the pipe between the firebox and the tank for this device should be longer. Smoke will begin to flow to the products in a chilled form from 19 to 25 ° C.

Cold smoked products can be stored for up to six months.

To prepare products using different technologies, two removable pipes should be made.

At the bottom of the tank, it is necessary to install a sheet of metal, wrapping it with foil. This is where excess fat will accumulate.

In the upper part, you need to fix a strong metal pipe for hanging meat or fish.

The universal brazier from a gas cylinder can be used for a barbecue or a grill.
