Perforated scissors for metal nozzle on a drill. Cutting metal with a drill

Various attachments for equipment can replace expensive analogues. For example, a grinding disc mounted on a screwdriver will brilliantly perform the functions of a grinder. In the same article, a nozzle for a drill for cutting metal, its advantages and main models will be considered.

All existing lotions mounted on the rotating heads of drills or screwdrivers are divided according to their purpose into:

  • grinding;
  • polishing;
  • drilling at an angle;
  • sharpening;
  • removable;
  • drilling holes;
  • cutting.

The last group is the subject of consideration.

Unlike the cutting discs of the grinder, the nozzles on the screwdriver or drill cut the workpiece more delicately without deforming the coating of the material. The accessory is mounted on the chuck of the power tool and is rotated when the "Start" button is pressed.

An important point - the nozzles for metal in question are not compatible with every drill. The rotational speed of the latter must be at least 2700 rpm.

Advantages and disadvantages of using

The nozzle is easy to put on the cartridge and remove after work. In addition, the user discovers other advantages of using the snap-in, including:

  • cut evenness;
  • no burrs on the workpiece;
  • work comfort;
  • ease of use and installation;
  • no need for additional adjustment;
  • increase in productivity;
  • compatibility of known nozzles with an electric or pneumatic drill;
  • ease of maintenance;
  • possibility of cutting holes.

Nozzles for cutting tin, aluminum, steel have only two drawbacks. The first is to get used to them. Over time, even a beginner in the construction and repair business will master a simple device and learn how to work effectively with it.

The second disadvantage is the need to work with two hands. This complicates the work, for example, when installing the roof, if drill bits are used specifically for cutting metal tiles.

This is due to the fact that the top layer of the roof covering is protected from above by a polymer that is unstable to high temperatures.

A working angle grinder inevitably heats up, so a layer of polymer melts at the cut points, and then a zinc coating. Moreover, sparks flying in different directions will increase the damage area. The result is disappointing - the deformation of thin sheet metal, the possibility of rust. Therefore, for sensitive materials, it is better to look after the nozzle.

The principle of operation of removable elements

The equipment has a shank screwed to the working part of the drill or screwdriver. The nozzle is fixed with the same nuts that held the drill or bit for self-tapping screws. Since the fixed part has a rounded shape, you can turn the fixture at a convenient angle.

Knives that cut thin sheet metal, function due to the eccentric. The modified tool is ready for use immediately after attaching the detachable part. After cutting the blanks, the nozzles for the screwdriver are removed, cleaned of chips, and stored in their original packaging.

Overview of popular fixtures

"Cricket"

Experienced masters of the construction business came across two names of nozzles - "Cricket" and "Beaver". More about each - below.

"Cricket" according to the principle of action resembles nibblers(cutting). Thanks to two cutting heads, they perform a smooth cut not only on smooth workpieces, but also on profiled ones. Also with their help it is easy to cut plastic, polycarbonate.

Maximum allowable cutting thickness:

  • sheet steel - 1.5 mm;
  • stainless steel - 1.2 mm;
  • copper, aluminum - 2 mm;
  • plastic blanks - 2 mm.

The scope of use of the "Cricket" nozzle is extensive. Being universal, it allows you to perform operations on a horizontal, vertical surface, to perform an internal cut. Nibblers for a drill process corrugated board and metal tiles, are used for cutting tin and coarser materials of small thickness.

After work, the user will notice an even cut without burrs, notches, and note the integrity of the coating. For the durability of the nozzle, it is worth considering the recommendations of the manufacturer. In particular, the minimum speed of the drill is 1500 rpm, the maximum is 3000 rpm.

"Steel Beaver"

In the construction environment, the fixture is known simply as the "Beaver". The principle of operation is the same as that of the Cricket. The punch, which performs rotational-translational motion, bends the material, rests on the matrix and cuts it.

Nozzle for cutting metal "Steel Beaver" - the same scissors that perform straight and curved cuts with the smallest radius of 1.2 cm. The removable accessory can be positioned anywhere (it rotates 360 degrees) for ease of use.

If compared with the previously considered equipment, the "Beaver" will cut a metal sheet of greater thickness - up to 1.8 mm. The benefits are exactly the same as those mentioned above.

The minimum speed of the drill should be 1500 rpm, and the allowable thickness of the stainless steel should be 1.2 mm.

It is worth noting that almost every nozzle works according to the same parameters. The only exception is the thickness of the metal workpiece, which one tool can cut, while the other cannot. The result of the work will be a smooth, sharp edge without dents or other defects. This is inevitable if the nozzle for cutting tin, copper, aluminum and other metal is selected in accordance with the speed of the screwdriver (drill).

If a novice user or an experienced builder does not have the desire and opportunity to spend money on an expensive cutting tool, he should look at inexpensive analogues. The cost of classic nozzles - "Cricket" and "Steel Beaver" - is 1800 and 2000 rubles, respectively (average market price). This fact also explains their demand among repair craftsmen and novice specialists.

The need for analogue grinders or other cutting equipment sometimes arises suddenly. The presence of attachments like "Cricket" and "Beaver" at hand is the key to a quick and safe solution to the problem.

I assembled this chip blower a year ago. During this time, I completely ran it in and I can say that the design is quite working. used for chip blower asynchronous motor at 1.5kW/3000 rpm. I assembled this chip blower a year ago. During this time, I completely ran it in and I can say that the design is quite working. Unfortunately, the format of the competition does not allow describing in detail the manufacturing process and the reason for choosing the shape of the parts, so I offer only short description and focus on the most important points. For the chip blower, a 1.5 kW/3000 rpm asynchronous motor was used. The impeller is assembled from plywood. The size of the impeller was chosen so that the motor would not be overloaded. The blades are curved and the impeller rotates with the curved side forward. To bend the blades I used two 3mm plates and glued them together. The impeller is attached to the engine through a plywood pulley. To remove any beating of the pulley, it was machined directly on the native engine. The impeller blades are glued to the sidewalls using grooves. It was quite difficult to manually calculate the radii, but I have a home-made CNC milling machine (based on the Enkor FME-850 router). With the help of it, all the details came out as they should, although it was necessary to slightly adjust each blade individually in its place. But after gluing and installing on the motor shaft, there was a slight runout in both axes. The beauty of a wooden impeller is that it can be easily turned, but it was dangerous to run it with beats at 3000 rpm (and its diameter is 360mm and thickness 120mm). Therefore, I attached the Enkor LME-900 belt sander (it has convenient grooves for fastening with clamps) and removed the beats by rotating the impeller manually. Next, balancing was carried out by drilling plywood from the back of the impeller. After that, I already ventured to start the engine and made sure that everything worked well. The impeller body was also assembled from bent plywood in the form of a “sandwich” of 2 plates 3 mm thick. The housing cover is rigidly attached to the engine, and the housing to it with the help of valves for quick disassembly. All connections at the final stage are glued with window rubber seal for tightness. The next step was to assemble the cyclone itself. It consists of two parts and is made of plywood and galvanized sheet. The top part creates a swirl of air, and the cone directly separates the debris. The ends of the cylinder are cut and glued to the liquid nails. I cut it with a grinder Enkor UShM-900/125M. The ramp was cut out of galvanized steel using an Enkor ACCUMaster AKM1802 screwdriver and the Cricket tool. All connections are treated with sealant on the non-working side. The engine is hung on two simple brackets. The engine itself, along with top cover the snail is suspended from the brackets on rubber shock absorbers, which also dampen the beats when starting and stopping. At the cyclone, the upper plywood part of the body is the carrier and is rigidly attached to the wall. A "bucket" on wheels is attached from below, which is convenient. At this point, the chip blower was ready for testing. Gradually, the wiring was collected. I used the usual sewer pipe at 110 and 50mm. It does not fit well with a 100mm corrugated hose and I used a 100mm round ventilation pipe in these places. For convenience, valves and "scoops" for sweeping were made. In addition, I added remotes remote control. That's all. Thank you for your attention.

With a wide range of drill bits to choose from, this versatile tool can replace many other tools. So, for example, grinding discs eliminate the need to purchase a grinder, and a nozzle for tightening screws and self-tapping screws will replace a screwdriver.

With these tools, you can do the following:

  • grinding;
  • polishing;
  • cutting;
  • mixing;
  • twisting;
  • drilling holes of different diameters;
  • milling.

When used correctly, the result will be of the same quality as if the work was done with a special single-purpose tool. you can’t do without a drill with different nozzles for, a pigsty, cages for rabbits and others outbuildings in the country.

Types of nozzles

All nozzles for drills are divided by purpose:

  • stops;
  • for drilling holes, crowns;
  • cutting, nozzle-scissors "Steel beaver" and "Cricket";
  • for drilling at an angle;
  • polishing and grinding;
  • cutters for wood and metal;
  • removable;
  • sharpening.

Parallel stop is used to adjust the immersion depth of the drill, there are also special drilling stands for the bottom of a secure tool holder. In addition to the standard drilling function, blind holes can be made with a drill, for example, for installing hinges in wooden furniture. In this case, a Forstner drill is used. The base of the hole is flat, and its edges are absolutely smooth. Or they use feather drills instead.

Cutting attachments

Unlike a grinder, drill bits for cutting metals work more delicately and do not deform the coating of the material being processed. The tool is driven by the chuck of the tool on which it is installed.

For cutting metals, you should choose drill models with a speed of at least 2800 rpm.

Benefits of cutting attachments:

  • even cut;
  • comfortable work;
  • easy to use and maintain, no adjustment required.

The attachment for the Cricket drill is a nibbler with two cutting heads. They are used for cutting thin sheet metal: profiled metal sheets, metal tiles, profiled or sheet plastic, as well as polycarbonate. "Cricket" is simply irreplaceable when erecting on a site.

"Cricket" is used for sheets of materials with the following parameters:

  • the thickness of sheet steel should not be more than 1.5 mm;
  • stainless steel up to 1.2 mm;
  • aluminum, copper and plastic no more than 2 mm.

The cut after processing this nozzle always remains smooth, without notches, and the coating is intact.

To make a high-quality and even internal cut, you must first drill a hole.

The nozzle matrix rotates, thanks to which it can work with both horizontal and vertical surfaces. The recommended number of revolutions of the tool to use this tool is 3000 rpm, the minimum is 1500 rpm.

Also, for cutting profiled sheet metal and tiles, the Steel Beaver scissor attachment is used.

The principle of operation is similar to the previous nozzle, the cut occurs due to the frequent reciprocating movements of the punch, which bends the material and breaks it against the matrix. This tool can make curved and straight cuts. The minimum cutting radius is 1.2 cm. You can work with it at any angle (360 °). Compared to the Cricket, the equipment is able to cut a steel sheet of greater thickness - 1.8 mm. The main advantage of the nozzle is a smooth cut, and due to the absence of sparks, the protective coating of the material does not deform during operation.

At the end of work, be careful with sheet material, since the cut edge becomes sharp after processing.

Attachments for grinding and polishing

With the help of nozzles on a drill for grinding and polishing, you can carry out the following types of work:

  • polishing metal, wood coatings, as well as glass surfaces;
  • grinding of metal, details from it and other materials;
  • removal of corrosion, scale, chipping and old coatings;
  • glass edge grinding.

Compared to special tools, these devices are inexpensive and can handle large quantity different tasks, I make any surface perfectly flat and smooth. In addition, they can process hard-to-reach places where it is impossible to use other tools. But due to their small size, it is difficult for them to perform a large amount of work.

When purchasing a nozzle for a drill for processing wood or other material, you should carefully study the instructions. Since for different types snap-ins require different power and the number of revolutions of the tool.

All polishing and grinding attachments are a rod on which grinding material is fixed, such as foam rubber, felt, brushes or sandpaper.

The following types are produced:

  • plate;
  • disk;
  • fan;
  • drum;
  • end;
  • cup.

Polishing devices are divided not only by the type of construction, but also by the degree of hardness: hard, soft, super soft, embossed.

Cup

A cup attachment for a drill for grinding wood or other coatings consists of a rod for fixing in a cartridge, and a cup-shaped body filled with hard or light bristles. Most often it is used to remove corrosion or old coatings. Models with a soft polishing part are also available: foam rubber, felt or other similar material. The body is made of durable and lightweight plastic or metal. Soft nozzles on a drill are most often used for car polishing.

Disc and platter

Disc devices, like cup ones, consist of a rod, a body and a grinding material. The main difference from the previous model is the direction of the bristles (steel wire, brass brush), it is directed from the center to the edges of the disc. You need to use them carefully, as you can quickly ruin the coating.

Plate attachments for polishing or grinding drills are made according to the same principle as for grinding devices. But instead of a thread, they are equipped with a movable or fixed rod for fixing in the cartridge. Sandpaper is attached to them with Velcro.

Experts recommend purchasing plate nozzles with a moving rod, rubber or with a soft and thick layer between Velcro and the base. Since then you can adjust the angle of the drill and smoothly follow the contours of the material.

When working with a rigid cymbal, it is more difficult to control, and even with a slight tilt, it will make a noticeable indentation in the surface. As a result, you can completely spoil the material. Therefore, they are recommended to be used only with a firmly fixed instrument on the stand.

Fan (petal), drum and end

Grinding fan nozzles for a drill are a small disk in the center, to the edges of which petals of sandpaper or other abrasive material are fixed. It is convenient to handle hard-to-reach places, internal cavities or grind holes with such a device, as it is able to take any shape. They are fixed in the drill chuck in the same way as previous models, using a rod.

Drums are made in the form of a cylinder with a rod, covered on the outside with sandpaper. Unlike a poppet attachment on a drill, the processing surface is parallel to the chuck, and not perpendicular. They process wood, metal, glass. Most often used for sharpening the end of glass. They are soft and hard, depending on the purpose of the appointment.

The end ones are a rod, at the end of which the processing material is fixed in the form of a circle or cone. Nozzles work on the principle of a file. Using them, you can increase the diameter of the hole, as well as remove notches and make the edges smooth.

Other nozzles

An angled drill attachment allows you to make holes in places where it is impossible to work normally. The angle can be adjusted or be fixed - 90 °. Drill bits are used for drilling in wood, concrete, ceramic and tiles, metal and other materials of large holes. They are made of high quality steel so that the holes are smooth, without chips and cracks.

The nozzle for sharpening drills is a body with a leash and a grindstone inside. The holes for sharpening have different diameters. Their number can reach 15 pieces. Mixer attachments are used for mixing various mortars, paints and other mixtures. Selected depending on the consistency. For tightening self-tapping screws or screws, there is also special nozzle, but it should be purchased for drills equipped with a speed reduction function.

For bird owners, a pen-removable attachment for a drill for plucking birds has been developed. It instantly and safely removes all feathers from the carcass. In this case, the skin and meat are not damaged. Before work, it is not necessary to pre-scald the carcass or process it after plucking with a blowtorch.

The nozzle on the drill for plucking birds is easy to use, you just need to fasten the tool with high quality and bring the bird to it. It is made from easily washed materials and takes up very little space.

For those who work with wood material, different types of cutter heads are available. They allow you to make grooves various forms, machine holes or remove defects. They are pointed and backed.

Before working with any nozzles, you should check the reliability of their fastening in the chuck and the material being processed. The drill must be held with both hands. Be sure to use protective equipment (gloves, goggles) while working.

Homemade nozzles for a drill - video

It all started with the fact that I was going to change the slate roof to a metal tile and sheathe the house with metal siding.

I went and bought everything I thought I needed. I am engaged in construction, but I have never worked with roofs, with painted galvanization either. Zero experience. But hands from where it is necessary to grow.

In general, the slate was removed, everything was prepared, sheets of metal tiles can be fixed. The roof is multi-pitched, a lot of trimming and fitting. As it seemed to me at that time, I would cut with an angle grinder, in the common people with a "grinder", with an ordinary cutting disc. And after the first attempt, doubt crept in, sparks flew in all directions, stuck to the coating and even burned it in places. It is no longer difficult to guess that at the place where the coating is broken, corrosion will appear very quickly and the meaning of replacing the roof will be irretrievably lost. I tried ordinary metal scissors, it's funny to remember how much time it would take me to go through all the corners, oblique cuts and fittings. Moreover, ordinary scissors are not at all designed for cutting metal tiles.

I started calling my friends. Friends explained to me that there are punching and cutting electric scissors that perfectly cope with such tasks. In the store where I arrived, they showed me many different models, everything would be fine, but the price turned out to be very biting. The cheapest 12.000 rubles. What's the point of buying them, what am I going to do with them? In the installation of plumbing and heating, (what I do) they have no use. In short, I was upset and, out of hopelessness, was about to fork out, when suddenly a man standing nearby and hearing our dialogue with a friend wrote the address of the store and the name "cricket drill nozzle" on a piece of paper

We arrived, twisted, turned, listened to a brief oral instruction manual and bought it. The purchase cost 1250 rubles, that is, ten times cheaper!

In 3 days we covered 200 square meters of roofing and sheathed the house with metal siding. The nozzle exceeded all my expectations. First, put the nozzle on the screwdriver, (1800 rpm) the cutting speed is slow and the quality is not super, burrs, uneven edges, already upset. Then they put it on an electric drill, (3000 revolutions) heaven and earth, the edges are smooth and the speed is completely satisfied. It is convenient to work with an uneven and sharply convex surface, as well as adjust the degree of inclination. The cricket handle is independent of the drill and rotates 360 degrees. Cuts sheet metal up to 1.6 mm like paper. Any hole in the sheet, please enter a 12 mm hole and you're done! I tried to cut two sheets of galvanized 1.0 mm, that is, 2.0 mm at the same time, and it cuts very decently. I also liked that there are two heads on the nozzle, on any of which you can screw the handle, and after it becomes dull, do not immediately change the matrix, but only turn it 90 degrees and change the cutting edge. This is done in three movements, loosen the screw with a special key, turn the matrix, tighten the screw. And in this small, in my opinion, indispensable tool in everyday life, everything is as simple as one, two, three!
