How to install a hidden interior door. Doors with a hidden box and for painting: what you need to know? Advantages of hidden interior doors

Hidden interior doors are a godsend for any designer, as they allow you to implement any idea when creating an unusual interior. Such structures adapt to the wall of the room, thereby forming a single surface. Hidden frame doors are now in demand again. In addition, to create them, enterprises began to use heel loops (for installation on the upper and lower ends of the fabric).

Hidden interior doors can be very common in private homes. Their style is ideal for interiors with romanticism, avant-garde, loft design. The main task of door structures of this type is only to emphasize the design of the room, and they should not be the main focus during repairs.

Hidden doors for painting or wallpaper?

It is impossible to answer this question unambiguously. When choosing one or another solution, you need to be guided by the available budget and the original idea of the owner of the premises. To date, both options are considered universally recognized, but more preference is given to structures for painting. They are able to make any room spectacular, but at the same time look pretentious. You can see such a door made under the wallpaper in the photo.

The preservation of a minimalist style is also characteristic of designs that will be covered with wallpaper. Hidden interior doors under the wallpaper offer a lot of possibilities and have a number of advantages:

  • no need to invent any design;
  • maximum invisibility of structures;
  • budget savings (since you don’t have to buy additional paint).

Despite this, for both doors the same rule will apply - all of them must be coated with a primer before finishing. Its use allows you to create an ideal basis for further action with your own hands - applying wallpaper glue or staining.

Sliding interior doors: hidden box

The decision will become ideal option for such houses, in which the forefront is the task of making the most of an already small space. In addition, this type can also be used if there are small children in the family to protect them from shock.

The installation of such a door involves an empty space in the wall where it will move. To do this, you need to install a false wall, the creation of which will not take much time. You can design it from ordinary drywall.

The modern market provides the widest range of models of hidden sliding doors. They can be made of any material, they can have one or two wings. The choice is also possible depending on the direction of opening of the structure and equipment with additional decorative elements. In the photo you can see one of these doors, equipped with decorative glass.

Features of installing hidden interior doors

To montage door structure with a hidden box with your own hands went correctly, you must consider the following nuances:

  1. Preparatory work must be carried out at the proper level. This applies to the pre-finishing of the doorway and the wall to which the structure will adjoin. If there are any irregularities on these parts, they must be eliminated with the help of high-quality leveling by means of putty and plaster. Only then will it be possible to create a perfectly flat surface.
  2. Following the strict verticality of the canvas. Otherwise, you will constantly be disturbed by its spontaneous closing or opening.
  3. Taking into account the correct planting depth and the required foaming. If all the work is done as it should, then the gaps formed in the door porch should be of the same size. During normal installation, no part of the product should touch another.

If you plan to create an unusual interior in your house or apartment, using a similar interior door for painting, then you need to use a special profile base. It should be covered with drywall to continue the rest finishing works. As a result, the overall appearance surface is not lost. The video shows a more detailed hidden installation interior doors.

A hidden box makes it possible to create structures protected from external influences, which will be very difficult to notice. In addition to their attractive appearance, hidden interior doors with a hidden box have another, no less important advantage, which is a high level of security. It will be very difficult to get into such a room without permission. In the photo you can see various options finishing of interior hidden doors.

How to process the door?

The basis for the future hidden door must be correctly processed without fail. This can be done with:

  • primers;
  • hammer enamel;
  • nitro paints;
  • powder enamel.

The first solution can be called the most accessible of all available. Despite its simplicity, the coating provides the door leaf high level resistance to fluctuations temperature regime, prevents the penetration of moisture or cold, and also meets the requirements fire safety. If we talk about the cheapest option, then this is the use of nitro paint. Such a coating can be created in any premises, including technical ones.

Using powder enamel, you will create a door that will be protected against abrasion from various adverse factors. As for hammer enamel, its main advantage is to provide a longer and more reliable coating.

Many living spaces do not have enough space to install swing doors in them. A sliding structure can come to the rescue, but it is not always convenient when it opens along the wall. Sliding interior doors hidden in the wall , will be able to simultaneously solve the problem of lack of space and insufficient aesthetics of the room.

Is it possible to make a pencil case yourself?

In order to make it invisible when open, it can be hidden in the wall. There are two ways to solve this problem:

  • The first is quite radical and requires special permission when it comes to load-bearing structures. A special void breaks through the wall for the door leaf. This process is quite troublesome, it can be facilitated by making an additional wall, but then it will take up space in the corridor.
  • More in a simple way is a pencil case for, with your own hands, which is quite simple to create. This compact solution is suitable for any room, does not require large material or physical costs, and has a fairly aesthetic appearance.

Advantages of the pencil case

The pencil case performs several important functions:

  • Improves the aesthetic space by hiding the open door leaf.
  • Protects a leaf of a door from mechanical influence. This is especially true if you plan to install glass doors, and armored glass is unaffordable.
  • An open door slides along the wall, so nothing can be placed on it. The pencil case will take up a small space, but you can move furniture close to it, hang shelves, paintings, pots right on it.

Methods for manufacturing doors that go into the wall

Hidden can be done independently. This process is creative and not overly complicated. To create a design, you will need to purchase furniture fittings, parts for a pencil case and accessories for a door. The pencil case is a continuation of the wall, inside of which the door will hide.

An important component is special fittings for a sliding door: you will need a cassette specially designed for such a project, and guides for the door leaf. In order to set the canvas in motion, rollers, rails are used, which can be located either in the upper or lower part of the structure, or in both. Do not forget about the limiter - the stopper.

Most often, to create a niche for the canvas, part of the main wall is destroyed, then it is restored using a drywall sheet. The point is that sliding interior doors, the case of which is made in this way, can completely disappear when opened, and the case will not extend beyond the main wall, that is, its presence will not be visually noticeable.

The next important stage of work is the installation of guides. They must be located strictly horizontally, otherwise the door will be difficult to open or it will warp, and it will be extremely difficult to open such a structure.

Interior doors to the wall must be equipped with special handles. To do this, special recesses are made in the canvas. It is impossible to hang a standard handle on such a door, otherwise it will interfere with the opening of the door and will not allow the canvas to hide completely in the pencil case.

Ways to install interior doors

Before starting the installation of the cassette, you need to make sure that the floor plane is perfectly flat. The same rule applies to the ceiling. The verticality of the walls is also checked: if the surfaces are uneven, the canvas can cling to them when opened.

Before closing the case with drywall, it is necessary to install the door leaf and mechanisms for opening it. If you don't do it on this stage, to bring the work to its logical conclusion will be impossible.

The installation of the pencil case occurs with the help of mortgages; they are set in advance. Upper mortgages are needed so that the canvas does not move. They securely hold it in a given direction, do not allow it to bend. In addition, you will need to install an enclosing box: this is necessary for the correct fixation of the web.

Scheme of a pencil case with dimensions for an interior door.

Built-in sliding interior doors will work correctly only if you determine the correct position for the canvas before sewing the wall with drywall. You can make it so that it does not go into the wall completely, then it will be convenient to pull it by the handle.

Doors that hide in the wall

Many owners want to hide the door completely, in which case it will hide into the wall along with the handle. In the second case, to remove the door, you need to use a lock with a button, when pressed, a spring will be triggered, pushing the canvas out of the socket.

You should correctly consider the size of the pencil case. The block should be slightly larger than the door leaf if you want it to go completely into it.

Benefits of Hidden Doors

Sliding doors, a closed case have the following advantages:

  • Space in the room is saved as much as possible.
  • You can attach furniture to the wall or hang pictures on it without fear that the door leaf will touch them when opened.
  • The door hidden in the pencil case will be protected from damage, the injury risk of the structure will decrease, since its main part will be hidden inside.
  • When using high-quality fittings, the service life of the structure as a whole is significantly increased.
  • A sliding door, the pencil case of which is made independently, costs the owner a minimum amount.

Design flaws:

  • The construction of the pencil case will still be more expensive than the installation of a conventional sliding door.
  • Installation requires a lot of effort compared to installing a conventional sliding door.

Wall sliding door This is an original aesthetic solution for any interior. It will help increase the space, make open door inconspicuous, use all the available space in the room as profitably as possible.

Some owners want to arrange a secret room in their apartment where they can disguise personal belongings, money and other things that they want to hide from prying eyes.

A secret door can be installed for such purposes:

Hidden door in the wall

To hide the door in the wall, you need to decorate it with your own hands so that it merges into the overall interior. It is better to sheathe it with beautiful panels of plastic or wood, but you can simply cover the material to match all the walls of the room.

At the same time, it is important not to install platbands, but to use special locks and hidden hinges as accessories.

Hidden closet door

The secret door in the form of a closet is the oldest and classic version which has lost its popularity. A closet equipped with shelves, on which all kinds of souvenirs and personal items are located, few people will cause any suspicion. So that when you open a secret door, things do not fall from the shelves, they are smeared with special wax.

It is possible to purchase a ready-made cabinet system that is already equipped with a door, but it is much cheaper and easier to make bookshelves on a pre-installed door.

Another of the very simple options in the interior will be the location of the cabinet, in the back wall of which there will be a room.

Using cabinets is the best method of disguising a secret door to a room. But the use of such a method will be appropriate only if there is home office or libraries.

Hidden door behind a mirror or painting

A mirror or a special mirror overlay will help to hide secret interior doors perfectly. It is better to hide the door in this way with your own hands in the corridor or in any room where there are mirror cabinets.

It's pretty easy to do this. You just need to fix the mirror on the MDF base, make a metal or wood frame and put a hidden handle.

You can also mask interior doors with the help of a picture. As a result, instead of a door, you can get a work of art in which the door leaf will be a picture, and the frame will be instead of platbands. To do this, it is better to stick photo wallpapers on the door or make a hand-painted canvas with special paints.

Thus, you can come up with an original interior and at the same time hide a certain room from prying eyes with your own hands.

Curtain to mask the door

One of the cheapest and easiest methods of arranging a secret door is a curtain. You can choose from simple fabric canvases, as well as intricate draped curtains.

In order to disguise the door in this way, it is necessary to use a cornice (which can be sewn into suspended ceiling or hang on special brackets) and a curtain or curtain. This option is best suited to hide the entrance to a niche, dressing room or for use in an inconspicuous corner of the room.

If the owners of the house want to hide something dangerous, then it is better to do it not behind the curtain, but behind secure door with a good lock.

It may seem that secret interior doors are a rather complicated design to do it yourself. In fact, making it yourself is quite simple. To do everything quickly and correctly, you must adhere to these principles:

So that the door handle does not show, it is better to use a special in-depth model. An excellent option would be to use a sliding mechanism that will work by pressing or turning.

If your home has hollow walls, then installing hidden sliding doors would be a great option. This option will become especially relevant with limited space. You can open camouflaged doors using special automation or manually.

A great option would be to use a hidden door in the dressing room. Most often, the owners do this to hide their belongings from strangers.

Today I will show you the second way to install doors. In fact, there are about five such methods. And if possible, I will shoot a video for each method, and show you. The second method has similar moments with the first. I would say such a crossed method. This method may not be used everywhere. I'll tell you exactly where it can be used. But the main advantage of this method is that it somewhat speeds up the process. So let's go.

Installation of hangers

And the first thing we need to do is having such a straight suspension and two self-tapping screws with a press washer. Screw these suspensions onto the box, in this way.

Distance. As for the distance, as I do. On the loop side, I will twist one hanger over the loop. If you twist it under the loop, then the self-tapping screws that hold the loops, they start to abut and do not completely twist, interfere. So I made over the loop.

On the opposite side, the lower suspension is at a distance from the lower part - 10 centimeters. And then it alternates after 64 centimeters. Upstairs, no. Here 64 remains, but not here.

Why? Here it is absolutely not needed, because here I adjust by driving wedges. That is, here the suspension is not even needed. He will even interfere. Why? Because when we hang the canvas, the gaps are easier to adjust this way, hammering and relaxing the wedges from different sides.

Regarding the assembly of the box at 45, at 90 degrees, you can also see videos on my channel.

Installing the box in the opening

And the next stage is that we have a box inserted into the opening in this way.

In this case, we have a rough floor. There is no finished floor yet, so I left a certain gap under the finished floor, so that later I could bring the finishing floor.

The box should be aligned in two planes. Now you see, it's not very visible from the camera. Here we have a laser coming, a laser beam.

According to what you use. You can level with a laser, a plumb line, a two-meter bubble level. How convenient for you. The main thing is that in this plane the box is aligned in a similar way in this plane. Here we have a wall - an absolute level. So when installing I check in this way. That is, I do not apply the level in order to see what it shows, so that in two planes of these, my box lies flush with the wall.

Similarly here.

Well, this should never be counted on because the walls may not always be level. It's just perfect in this case. So I do it with complete confidence. But, nevertheless, in this plane, I advise you to check. As the saying goes, measure twice, cut once.

The next thing to do in this case in the installation is to fix the two hangers. Here is the one below. Exactly where the loops are. I will fasten them with dowel-nails. Accordingly, here I have it aligned, here I give a mark, I drill.

I will fasten the dowel-nails 6x40. I do not drill through, because there are not 6 holes. I don't drill. Why? Because I had a bad experience. Even two sad experiences, apparently the first one did not teach me anything. Since then, I have never done that. I drill here, hammer in the plastic part and screw it in here with the nail itself.

The next moment, I almost forgot to say. The suspension naturally needs to be noted and deepened. Now why didn't I do it? Previously, I measured before installation and immediately deepened. That is, he hollowed out this part of the putty and plaster to the thickness at which it would not stick out. Accordingly, all this is then plastered and will not be visible. Naturally, you cannot leave it, because painting, wallpaper, and so on - all this will stick out and the casing will not close it.

Why did I do this now. Because it speeds up the process. First, I fasten it like this, I will also fix the lower one, namely the looped one I was talking about. And only then, after foaming, I will deepen them. But a little later I will show you how it happens.

Wedge installation

And I almost forgot to tell you one more thing. These are wedges. It will be necessary to jam them, be sure to jam them. Because when you pull. More precisely, when you mount the suspension, it can move a little, so this wedge will not move the box.

That is, it does not allow the box to move there, the suspension prevents the box from moving there. Accordingly, the box is held firmly. Below in the same way. This must be done before attaching the suspension. Completely forgot about it. I put the box on the level, wedged it and you are already pulling and fastening it with a suspension. This box is not going anywhere. But besides this part, respectively, you need to fix it here.

So that the box does not move even in this plane. Exactly the same here.

After we have fixed these parts of the hangers to the wall, let me remind you that we do not touch any others. Here they are not fixed yet. We fasten the canvas to the box, put it in place. How to embed loops - I also have a video on the channel.

But now we will regulate. The most interesting thing with us is the adjustment of the canvas relative to the box. What we need to do next. The next thing we need to do is adjust the canvas on this side.

Look, now I covered it, now the lower part has touched the box, but the upper one has not yet. Look, she's moving. Accordingly, either this part of the box must be pushed here to the canvas, or lower part drown. But we need to dance from the wall itself. That is, with these manipulations, we do not need to move the box deeper than the wall itself goes.

If, for example, we have zero here, by the way, it is not here, we need to move the box inward. Now we are flush, and here the box has gone deeper. It's already touching. Accordingly, here we need to draw. Well, while I was pulling it out - I knocked down the wedges. It's not scary, because here we already have everything fixed. Our door hangs on the box, I will now jam them again, having already aligned the box under the canvas.

I will note why this part is aligned directly under the canvas. Because just. Why is it not aligned, for example, by the level in two planes? Because the canvas itself can be moved. It may be a propeller. It may be level here, but this part may be shifted somewhere by the propeller. If we do this also by level, if we have a box that is curved, we will not have a door that closes tightly. Here we will also squish in some place. Here we have no choice. One way or another, canvases are always behaving. Not much, slightly, depending on the manufacturer. The cheapest doors - they are very strongly behaved. And most of the time, it's almost impossible to verify this. Meaning with the naked eye.

Gap adjustment

The second thing to do is to adjust the gap.

We have a gap, and everywhere it should be the same. Accordingly, for this reason, we could not fix these suspensions. If we fixed them by pulling them, the gap would increase. If we fixed them by squeezing too much, the gap would decrease. And it should be the same everywhere. And we are now, only by adjusting and fixing it. Accordingly, here in a similar way

So, we're going to adjust. The first thing we need to do is to make these wedges. Wooden wedges that taper towards one end.

We make a mark and transfer everything to this part.

We put in the mark. Since we had a canvas on weight, respectively, this gap should be the same for us. This is the way we achieve it. The next thing we have to do is, as we see, again in this place to those wedges, which, by the way, I dropped. So, we wedge it in such a position that our canvas touches the box. That is, it is easily felt when we clamp here and move the canvas a little. When the canvas touches the box, it is this position that we must establish. So, I took these wedges, I fit the box under the canvas and wedged in this position.

After we jammed the upper part, accordingly, we made a gap everywhere from above during installation. We just need to start the adjustment from the top. Here I jammed, I adjusted the gap with small wedges and, accordingly, we have wedges tightly around the edges.

Now we need to adjust the entire gap in the same way. It is in those parts where we have suspensions. That is, what exactly do we need to do. Again, we remove the size of the gap, take the gap, insert here up to this line. We insert a wedge so that we have it all clamped, in a clamped state and strongly and fasten the suspension.

Well, that's it, the door is adjusted. A clearance wedge, wedges that press the box and a fixed suspension that pulls the box, does not allow it to move.

Thanks to this, we have a uniform gap, nothing more needs to be adjusted. Similarly, we have the looped side as well. The only thing that I have not yet scored here is that I have not fixed the suspensions.

Foaming the finished box

After we have all the suspensions clogged, we need to proceed to the foaming itself. But before you foam, be sure to sprinkle water on the places that we will foam. Respectively, brickwork and door frame.

After we sprinkled with water, we already proceed directly to foaming. Foaming must be done from the bottom up.

Well, here the foam is already frozen. The next thing to do is cut the foam like this.

Remove the wedges and see if everything is in order with us.

So, our door is good, it closes beautifully, it opens, both outside and inside. Nothing has moved. Accordingly, now we can proceed to ensure that the suspensions that we have left loose on the reverse side - we fasten them. We cut off the rest. We give marks where you need to deepen. Let's take a little more. And we deepen.

Now you can fix it.

And after you do this procedure with all the other suspensions, you can safely assume that your box is installed. You check whether the canvas closes well, the gap should remain the same everywhere, nothing moves anywhere. But, this method is not suitable everywhere. It is suitable in cases where the door opens outward. That is, not inside the room, but outside the room. In our case, as you can see, the door just opens here - this is the toilet. Why is it not suitable, because you can jam from this side, and foam. And you can do other things. Assembly of another door and so on.

From the inside, if you jam and foam, you will have to wait. Wait inside this room. Therefore, this case does not apply everywhere. After you have finished all this, your box is installed, you are already proceeding to the installation of platbands, installation of extensions, if necessary, to the lock insert. Personally, I prefer to embed the lock already on the canvas when it hangs on the box. Someone prefers to cut it before installation. It's more comfortable for me. Do as you please. That's all, friends.
