This is not a simple valentine, this is a congratulation in the shape of a heart of roses and ... delicious and juicy strawberries. You are unlikely to find such a composition in a flower kiosk, but by February 14 you will be able to offer such a gift, but you can try to make it yourself, with the help of our master class.

So, for our Valentine we need:

  • floristic oasis (you can buy this inexpensive device at any flower shop, it is inexpensive, and is a sponge that is saturated with water),
  • red roses (you can take small ones, up to 50 cm long),
  • toothpicks,
  • salal leaves (or other greens),
  • decorative pins,
  • wire,
  • ribbons,
  • secateurs (or knife)

If you purchased a rectangular piece of oasis, then we cut out a heart from it with a knife and soak it in water. Meanwhile, we cut off the rosebuds, leaving the stem no more than 3 cm long, do not throw away the remaining stem - it will still come in handy. Then we insert our buds into the oasis so that they are located tightly, thus filling the entire half of our heart.

Next, we take salal leaves (you can also purchase this green at) or any other green and cut off the leaves, put each leaf on the end of the oasis, so that it overlaps the previous one, i.e. overlap. And in order to keep the leaves on the side of the composition, we fix the tips with a decorative pin. Thus, we close the entire end of our heart with leaves, and also cover the second empty half of the heart with part of the leaves. When it is covered, you can start filling it.

But first, let's decorate our composition. To do this, we take the remaining stems from roses and cut them with secateurs into sticks 1-2 cm long, take 3 sticks and fasten them with wire in the middle, and tie them with a red ribbon on top, and insert what we got on the side over the leaves.

Well, the final part, filling the second half of the heart. We need to fill the second half with strawberries, for this we string each berry on toothpicks, and insert the tip of the toothpick into the oasis, when the whole half is densely filled with a layer of strawberries, the rest is simply poured on top of the first layer.

And another small but useful advice. Since it is not the strawberry season now and it is quite difficult to find it, you can replace it with Raffaello sweets, no less tasty and beloved by many girls, simply pouring the sweets on top of the leaves and filling the entire half of the heart with them. We think that the girl will be delighted with such an original congratulation on Valentine's Day!

Not so many materials are required to create a heart of flowers. Of course, the main component is flowers. They can be anything, but most often roses are used for this purpose. Firstly, they have a rigid and durable stem, which simplifies the work. Secondly, roses are associated with love. It is worth noting that the price of roses with short stems is much lower than for flowers with long stems. To make a heart, the buds themselves are needed, and the length of the stem does not matter. Only 5-8 centimeters will be enough!

You will also need a floral sponge (oasis). It should be cut in the shape of a heart. Moreover, it can be both solid and open middle. If you plan to use a heart of flowers to decorate a wedding procession, then purchase a floral sponge with a magnetic or adhesive base so that there are no problems with fastening. There are also sponges with a plastic base, which allows you to mount the flower arrangement on the walls.

Before starting work, the sponge must be prepared. To do this, it is lowered to the surface of the water and wait until it absorbs moisture and sinks to the bottom of the tank. After that, the oasis is taken out, the water is allowed to drain. Prepared flowers with cut stems are immersed in a sponge to the base of the bud. Excess parts of the stems on the back of the sponge are cut off. Make sure that no foundation is visible through the flowers. The sides of the oasis can be decorated with ribbons or leaves cut from the stems.

How to make a heart from fresh flowers

The process of creating a composition is quite simple, while using a small amount of materials, such as:

  • Package

Before you start creating a composition, you need to saturate the floral sponge with water. To do this, place the sponge in a container filled with water, when the sponge sinks to the bottom of the container, remove it.

Next, you need to outline the shape of the heart using a template or a finished shape. Use a knife to shape the sponge into a heart shape. By the way, in flower shops you can buy a ready-made oasis in the shape of a heart. Another option is to fill a plastic heart shape with a sponge. In this case, it is not necessary to give the exact shape to the sponge, in addition, the water from the sponge will drain into the mold.

Cut the flowers so that 1-2 cm of length remains from the peduncle. Then stick the buds into the sponge as you like, while remembering to insert the flowers on the sides of the sponge. You should start from the top, from the center point, then along the edge. When the frame of flowers is ready, fill the interior space.

Place the composition first in a plastic bag or film, then on wrapping paper or packaging. Secure the package with stationery needles or pins.

You can keep the freshness of the composition by moistening the floral sponge every 2 days. Water should be cool (but not icy). The sponge is moistened from a watering can or from another container, gently pushing the flower buds apart.

Insert the roses tightly together along the contour into the oasis. Take the sprigs of salal and separate the leaves from them. After you have laid out all the roses, you need to decorate the edges of the oasis with these leaves. Lay the leaves overlapping each other and pin with pins.

Do not throw away the stems of roses, as they are convenient to use as a decorative element. To do this, cut sticks of 3-4 cm with scissors or secateurs, connect three pieces and tie with wire.

It remains only to fill a part of the heart with strawberries and your heart is ready. Secure the strawberries with toothpicks and firmly stick them into the floral sponge over the leaves. It is advisable to cover part of the oasis with leaves so that the strawberries can then be eaten.
