The main exhibition of author's dolls in the world still remains an exciting intrigue of the outgoing year - collectors, artists, lovers of beauty, journalists and art critics are looking forward to the announcement of the main projects and exhibitors " Doll Art 2018". The exhibition will traditionally be held in the prestigious exhibition hall of the capital from 14 to 16 December.
This year, the organizers again show the best dolls in the world from Antarctica to Japan, from ancient times to the space future, from miniatures to human-sized giants. The only thing that will not be at the exhibition is boring and not interesting! No wonder thousands of artists from different countries We have been preparing our new collections for the final puppet event of 2018 for a whole year!
IX Moscow International Exhibition "Doll Art 2018" in Gostiny Dvor
This year, the organizers have prepared 20 special projects and hundreds of author's expositions with dolls and Teddy bears.
Viewers will see:
- Dolls from the boudoir of Marlene Dietrich: famous boudoir dolls of world cinema stars - Marlene Dietrich, Clara Bow, Josephine Baker;
- "Found in Antarctica": dolls by Oleg Katorgin in the Found in Antarctica project of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow association: painting, graphics, objects, wooden sculpture, mail art, animation, documentaries;
- « Mother-of-pearl dolls”: a collection of ancient Japanese dolls, figurines, kimono from the collection of Yuri Podkopaev and dolls in the ancient kimekomi technique from Alla Belyaeva;
- « Dolls based on paintings by Brueghel”: the project “A Doll in a Landscape Against the Background of Eternity” based on the works of artists of the Northern Renaissance will be presented by the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, the Elena Gromova Gallery and the Studio Club “Doll Collection”;
- « 19th century dolls»: antique dolls from the private collection of collector Natalia Kurochkina – porcelain beauties, prototypes and great-grandmothers of modern classical art dolls, museum-level rarities in the Christmas atmosphere of the exposition;
- « Children's dream dolls”: German industrial collectible dolls and limited edition toys - new items, rare molds, the most sought-after “dream dolls” for girls around the world;
- « See you in Venice!»: carnival, masks, secrets and mysteries of puppet life among canals and Doge's palaces in the project of the School of Puppet Design;
- « Amazon dolls": in the project" Ulger. Author's dolls of the Namdakov family" female images of the ancient culture and civilization of Asia - beautiful riders prancing on horses and fantastic unicorns, graceful young girls frozen in a dance or playing musical instruments, an Amazon drawing a bowstring, a proud ruler sitting on a throne.
For several decades, doll artists around the world have been striving to make their work, which arose at the junction of several types of art at the beginning of the 20th century, recognized and legitimate, equal and as in demand as ancient painting, sculpture, jewelry, and design. The dream of professional recognition comes true at the exhibition "The Art of the Doll". “Our project shows the art of the doll as the most modern art, which has millennial roots, but lives here and now. Artists speak to the audience in a new language of dolls, which is a little over a hundred years old, but the letters of this language are as old as the world and traditional: composition, plasticity, color, harmony, talent and beauty, ”says the editor-in-chief of the Puppet Master magazine, one from the organizers of the exhibition Olga Lakhina.
Once a year, Art of the Doll brings together people for whom such an understanding of their creative life component is close and consonant, the atmosphere of the exhibition gives a feeling of sincere mutual understanding and solidarity in creative impulses. To gather such artists from all over the world in the capital of Russia is the talent and genius of the organizers, thanks to which the dreams of artists and spectators come true.
Traditionally, artists from 26 countries of the world come to the exhibition, and this is a unique opportunity to see all the best in the center of Moscow - in the historic building of the Gostiny Dvor architectural monument.
Viewers of the exhibition will have the opportunity to buy dolls and collectible Teddy bears, educational literature, materials for creating dolls and bears, accessories, gifts for the Christmas tree and under the Christmas tree, take pictures with unique dolls, which after the exhibition will fall into private collections and disappear forever from the field of view of the public .

The largest doll exhibition in the world is back in Moscow!
famous exhibition "Doll Art" will be held on December 16-18 in one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of the capital - Gostiny Dvor. More than 1000 participants from 26 countries of the world will present tens of thousands of exhibits to visitors: new works and museum collections.
The idea and meaning of the exhibition "The Art of the Doll" is to show all the variety of objects that exist in the theme of the doll: a retrospective and a look into the future, geographical and national interpretations, author's searches, traditional images and bold experiments.
Today, the doll is an object of art and collectibles. Sculptors, designers, graphic artists, painters, decorators turned their attention to the doll. They discovered for themselves in this subject great possibilities for the synthesis of arts, for the creation of a new plastic language. Auctions, galleries, museums, catalogs, ratings, awards, personal exhibitions - this is a full-fledged infrastructure of the puppet art community, the final event of which once a year is the exhibition "The Art of the Doll".
The range of works presented is impressive: puppets of the Japanese theater and articulated "puppet glamors", industrial puppets of the Soviet period and traditional puppets of the peoples of the world, robot puppets and interior, theatrical and cartoon puppets, as well as antique puppets from private collections.
The theme of this year's exhibition is realism. The true image of reality - as in life - has been inherent in art in all ages, starting with rock art. Realism has always been considered the peak of skill and the pinnacle of genius. In any genre of art, it was achieved by artists who possessed only the greatest skill and talent. A doll as an art object is the strongest projection of a person and the ability to most reliably convey human emotions and experiences through a doll, capturing the smallest details and features of a particular or fictional character. Nowadays modern materials and the skill of the artists made it possible to bring the image of reality through the doll to mirror accuracy. It is no coincidence that the artist's dolls became the "face" of this year's exhibition. Mikhail Zaikov, the author of the most realistic dolls in Russia. In front of these dolls, thousands of people freeze with an enthusiastic “Ah!” In Zaikov’s works, the effect of similarity and even photographicity is brought to perfection. The queue of collectors wishing to buy these dolls is scheduled for a year ahead.
