F27 Flame detection when fuel valve is closed. Carry out diagnostics of the protection system, magnetic valve.
F28 The dual circuit device does not turn on. The burner does not start. Diagnose and repair:

To understand what to do in certain cases, consider the common error codes for the Vaillant gas boiler, and what needs to be done if they occur. If several errors occur at the same time, they are displayed alternately for approximately 2 seconds.

Icon designations can begin with the letter F (error) or S (status). Specifications and codes that are inherent in each particular model are prescribed in the instruction manual.

F5

Error F5 means a break in the external exhaust gas sensor. Possible reasons there may be an incorrect operation of the flue gas sensor, the plug is removed or the cable is damaged, the spare resistor is incorrectly installed. The code is relevant only for the mounted model Vailant Atmo.

5ER

If the display alternates between the water temperature and the 5ER (or SER) error, this is a reminder that it is time to service the device.


The user himself can set the frequency of how often this reminder pops up. The value is set in the item for diagnostics D.084 within the range from 0 to 3000 hours with an interval of 10 hours (the number 300 corresponds to 3000 hours). To completely disable this feature, enter the character “---” instead of a numeric value.

F15

Error F15 indicates a short circuit in the outdoor sensor for exhaust gases. Presumably there was a short circuit with the sensor plug housing, a short circuit inside the wiring harness, or the sensor itself is faulty. Shown only in wall boilers Vaillant Atmo.

F20

Error F20 (F20) detects that a protective shutdown of the device has occurred due to the fact that the safety limiter of the STB temperature indicator has tripped. It is activated when the maximum allowable temperature is exceeded.

This can happen due to the fact that the “ground” contacts of the wiring harness with the housing are incorrect, the NTC of the return or supply line is broken (weak contact). Breakdown through the ignition wire, electrode or ignition plug is also possible.

F21

Error F21 means an emergency shutdown of the GFA flame control.


F22

Error F22 (F22) shows operation protective shutdown due to insufficient water. The reasons for this are a malfunction of the pump cable or toggle switch with insufficient water, the pump does not work or is blocked, or it has too little power.

F23

Error F23 detects an emergency shutdown due to too large a temperature difference between sensors located on the supply and return lines.

  • Highly low pump power why the pressure drops on one side;
  • pump blocked;
  • Return and forward NTC sensors are out of place.

F24

Error F24 signals an emergency shutdown when the temperature rises too sharply. This means the presence of air in the device, reduced pump performance, blockage or very low pressure in the heating system. The gravity valve may be improperly connected or blocked.


F26

Error F26 means that the flow of the gas valve of the stepper motor is not determined due to a breakdown of the gas valve. Perhaps this is not connected or the gas valve servomotor is broken, the connector is incorrectly placed on the board, or there is a break in the wiring harness.

F28

Error F28 (F28) indicates that the equipment did not turn on, a malfunction was detected when the device was started, ignition attempts were unsuccessful.

    Error F 29 (F29) indicates that the burner flame goes out during operation and further ignition attempts are unsuccessful. There may be a temporary fuel cut, a misfire in the ignition transformer, or improper grounding of the equipment.

    Error F33 (F33) reflects that the device for measuring the pressure force does not turn on. After turning off the fan, the pressure switch does not disconnect the contact. Relevant for the Vailant Turbo TEK PRO line.

    S33

    Error S33 indicates that the unit is locked and put into a 20-minute standby state, the heat exchanger frost protection mode has been activated. The reason is that the relay contacts of the air-gas path are not connected. This condition may appear in the Vailant 242 Turbo double-circuit boiler.

    Error F36 (F36) - the thrust tipping sensor has recognized the exit of combustion products. Indicates that the traction is too weak. Most likely, the chimney is clogged or the ventilation is closed. The elimination of this problem consists in cleaning the chimney, turning off the active hood above the stove and opening the window.

    F37

    Error F 37 (F37) means fan speed deviation (too fast or slow). The pressure sensor may be broken.

    F38

    Error F38 means that the fan is out of order and needs to be replaced.

    F53

    Error F53 shows incorrect combustion settings.

    Possible reasons:


    F61

    Error F61 indicates an error in the control of gas valves. It is possible that the cable harness inlet is damaged and a short circuit has occurred, the gas valve or the electronic board is faulty.

    F62

    Error F62 - gas valve shutdown time delay. It can work if there is extraneous light inside (the control electrode does not show flame decay).

    F71

    Error F71 shows failure temperature sensor in the supply line. It is probably defective or located at a great distance from the supply line.

    F72

    Error F72 appears when the return or flow temperature sensor fails. It may be faulty or a very large temperature difference in the forward or return line of the NTC sensors.

    F75

    Error F75 (F75) means that there is no pressure surge when the pump is turned on. There may be oxygen in the heating system or the pump or water sensor may not work correctly. In order to correct the situation as soon as possible, the adjustable bypass is checked, an expansion tank is connected to the return line.

    The established service life is calculated from the moment of commissioning and is specified in the documentation attached to a specific product.

    The Vaillant factory guarantees the availability of any spare parts for this product for a minimum of 8 years after it has been discontinued.

    For Vaillant equipment and accessories, the manufacturer sets a warranty period of 2 years from the date of commissioning, but not more than 2.5 years from the date of sale to the end user.

    Spare parts are warranted for 6 months from retail date when spare parts are installed by a Vaillant certified technician.

From the moment of acceptance and transfer of the goods, the seller's obligation to transfer the goods is considered fulfilled. The fact of acceptance of the goods by the Buyer is confirmed by the signature in the "Purchase and Sale Agreement" in the column "Acceptance and Transfer Certificate".
