Supernatural Fundamentals: A Guide to Angels. Supernatural Angels Names of Supernatural Angels

Angels are the soldiers of God. These are huge, winged creatures that are multidimensional waves of divine design.

“The angelic mythology is really expanded and refined in the series, but when we imagined it, we were not sure if the angelic storyline would work,” admits series creator Eric Kripke. “If we chose the wrong person to play Castiel, it might not work. Maybe we should have given it up! So saving angelic mythology is actually more of a credit to Misha Collins.”

The sight of the true form of angels burns out a person's eyes, their true voice bursts glass and eardrums, so they communicate through electrical appliances (for example, television or radio) when necessary, but, as a rule, they choose for themselves some person to accommodate, so to speak. In other words, they take possession of people as demons do, but the difference is that they need to ask permission from the supposed vessels. The angels can see the true faces of the demons, and are just happy to strike them on the spot.

Deprived of free will and human emotions, they blindly follow orders, even if it means killing another angel, destroying thousands of people, or helping the fallen angel Lucifer start the apocalypse.

Angels can teleport at will, knock out a person with a single touch, and also invade someone's dreams. They can even travel through time, but this takes a lot of physical strength from them. And although they inspire awe, they also have weaknesses; a circle of sacred fire will become a trap for them, plus it, like heavenly weapons (for example, Lot's rock salt), can destroy their human vessel. Also, there are three things that can kill them: Leviathans, one of their own angelic blades, and archangels.

There are only four archangels - Michael, Lucifer, Raphael (Raphael) and Gabriel (Gabriel) - and they are the most fearsome warriors of God, capable of destroying "ordinary" angels with a simple snap of their fingers.

ANGELS FROM "A" TO "Z"

ANNA in Heaven was above Castiel in position, but she pulled out her Grace and fell to Earth to experience love and taste chocolate. But when Dean Winchester breaks the first seal on Lucifer's cage and the angels arrive on Earth to stop the rest of the seals from breaking while already human, Anna begins to hear angelic messages. Anna wants to remain human, but with demons trying to use her to spy on angels and angels trying to kill her by destroying her grace, she has no choice and is forced to return her grace and become an angel again. She flees but returns to save Castiel from the traitorous angel Uriel. Castiel, being a good soldier first and foremost, sends Anna to a prison in Heaven anyway, but she eventually escapes and travels back in time to kill John and Mary Winchester before they have Sam, the vessel of Lucifer. Ironically, Anna receives the young Uriel as her assistant, but then the Archangel Michael possesses John and kills her.

BALTAZAR once fought on the same side with Castiel, but thanks to the example of Castiel, who violated the angelic rules, he believes that this is a new era without any rules, and without fate, only absolute and unconditional freedom. As a result, he steals some heavenly weapons (like the staff of Moses) and fakes his own death in order to live on Earth. But he is still somewhat of an ally to Castiel, and in order to save him, he turns Raphael's "meat suit" into salt, and also prevents the Titanic from crashing at Castiel's request. But when he discovers that Castiel is working with the demon Crowley, he stalks his friend for the Winchesters and pays for his betrayal - Castiel stabs him in the back, literally.

GABRIEL is an archangel formerly known as the Trickster. He posed as the pagan god Loki to hide from the squabbles of his brothers, Michael and Lucifer, but, nevertheless, he has a special interest in the human brothers who are destined to become the vessels of Michael and Lucifer - Sam and Dean Winchester. Relations with the Winchesters eventually force him to side with the people, and he courageously accepts death, confronting Lucifer.

ESTHER- Member of the former angelic garrison in Heaven. Believing that Castiel is dead, she arrives on Earth to protect God's prophet, Kevin Tran, from a possible threat. She is shocked to learn that Castiel is alive, but when she tries to kill him, Meg kills her.

YESHUA- Heavenly gardener. Even though many angels are beginning to feel that God has "left the building" long ago, Yeshua claims to be talking to God, even though these conversations are mostly one-sided. When the brothers get to Heaven, he saves Sam and Dean from Zechariah to give them a message from God himself.

RAQUEL was Castiel's lieutenant until rumors reached her that he was involved with Crowley. She tried to kill Castiel, but she herself is killed by his hand, which plunged an angel blade into her.

RAPHAEL- A staunch supporter of his brother Archangel Michael. He claims to have a better imagination than Zechariah, he defends the prophets (like Chuck Sharley), and after the first seal is lied, he does his best to start the Apocalypse so that Michael and Lucifer can end the his old quarrel once and for all. He will not let anything or anyone stop him, not even Castiel, whom he will simply kill and then continue the war with him after he is resurrected, despite the fact that Castiel was seemingly brought back to life by God himself. But when Castiel, thanks to the souls from Purgatory, takes on the role of God and becomes incredibly strong, he will simply snap his fingers and Raphael will stop his

URIEL is an angelic cleansing specialist who thinks dealing with humans (“dirty monkeys”) is a waste of time. He claims he can turn a person to dust with just one word, but he is under Castiel's control. But while pretending to help Castiel stop Lilith from breaking all the seals binding Lucifer, Uriel secretly facilitates the breaking of the seals and kills all the angels who refuse to help him free Lucifer. He fails to get Castiel to help him and plans to make him his next victim, but Anna kills Uriel first.

VIRGIL– a killer angel sent by Raphael to take away the heavenly weapon from Balthazar, but the cunning angel quickly thinks of a way out and sends Virgil on the trail of the Winchester brothers, sent by him to an alternative universe ... where Virgil remains trapped to this day.

ZAHARIA refers to the highest heavenly leadership. He consistently received the title of employee of the month in Heaven until the moment when he failed to get Sam and Dean Winchester to agree to become vessels for Lucifer and Michael. Because of this, he became a laughing stock. But it wasn't because he didn't try - on the contrary, he "gifted" Dean with stomach cancer, then sent him to the future, the day Lucifer kills him, broke Sam's leg and deprived him of his lungs, changed reality for the brothers, and used an illusion of an evil version of their mother for psychological torture.

Zachariah thinks his luck has finally smiled on him when Dean agrees to be Mikhail's vessel, but it turns out to be just a ploy by Dean to get close enough to kill him with an angel blade.

ENOCHIANIC

Enochian is the language of angels that they use to communicate with each other in Heaven and on Earth. This language is also used in spells related to angels to summon, bind, or banish them. There is an Enochian psalm that can be used to forcibly expel an angel from its human vessel and send it back to Heaven, and the Whore of Babylon also used it to harm Castiel when he tried to thwart her plans.

Enochian symbols are symbols of great power, used to bind demons, to protect people from angelic "radar", and to prevent angels from appearing in certain places - houses, rooms or plots of land.

HEAVENLY WEAPON

Somewhere in Heaven there is a warehouse of powerful supernatural weapons, among which the most common is the ANGEL BLADE, aka a dagger that can kill an angel. It appears to be silver, but the composition of its alloy is unknown, and it is unlikely that it was originally intended to kill angels, but during the War in Heaven, its purpose became predominantly that. However, this blade is capable of killing a Hellhound and no doubt a human too. Heavenly power seeps into him, allowing anyone to use him effectively, including demons and humans, as demonstrated in the scene where Dean killed Zachariah. ARCHANGEL'S BLADE looks the same to mortal eyes, but it has much more power (presumably from being in the hands of an archangel) and is capable of killing even the most powerful angels. However, he is not able to kill an angel that has absorbed millions of souls, so Castiel's viability lay in his strength.

A rare modification of the angelic blade is the HEAVENLY BLADE, which was designed to kill powerful gods such as Fate. After their little misunderstanding with the Titanic, Balthazar almost used one of those golden daggers on Atropos, but the goddess found a way out of the situation.

Despite their supernatural lethality, these blades are mere knives next to a rocket launcher when compared to some other celestial weapons such as

STAFF OF MOSES.
This staff can manipulate water, cover people in boils, and send locusts, among other things. Don't let some tricks, like the staff's ability to turn into a snake, fool you; it is a very powerful weapon, effective against angels in human vessels. Formerly used by Moses in his manifestation of his dominion over the Egyptians, it is now divided into less powerful parts scattered across Heaven due to Balthazar's failed plan to get souls quickly (as shown in episode 7.03 "The Third Man"). The cunning angel divided it into several parts so as to have access to them at any time when he needed.

ROCK SALT LOT was used on a man when Lot's wife disobeyed an angel who ordered her not to look back at Sodom, the doomed city from which her family fled. Her gaze fell on a salt crystal, and she instantly turned into a pillar of salt. Archangel Raphael's vessel, Donnie Finnerman, similarly died at the hands of Balthazar when he used this weapon against him, saving Castiel.

The name BURN OF TRUTH OF GABRIEL (Gabriel) speaks for itself - when it is blown, everyone who hears it is forced to speak only the truth. Then there is the ARK OF THE COVENANT, probably the most famous and most powerful heavenly weapon of all. Its true purpose is unclear, but Castiel does not deny that the ark looks like a golden box and people who look inside melt their faces. Suffice it to say that this is the heavenly equivalent of a nuclear device - a nuclear bomb on supernatural steroids.

During the civil war in Heaven, Balthazar stole many of these famous items, weapons that even the archangel Raphael feared. Balthazar gave these items to his friend Castiel, who hid them. Given Castiel's mental state at the time, he would hardly ever use them. And it is even quite possible that he forgot where they are ...

BLADE DESIGN

“For episode 6.17 of “My Heart Will Go On,” we created a new heavenly blade,” notes props tech Christopher Cooper. more like a dagger capable of killing an angel, the one with which Raquel, Castiel's lieutenant, was later killed.

Holy smoke!

Sacred fire is a very effective weapon in the fight against angels. In other words, it's burning sacred oil. But the sacred oil is a rather rare substance, and its composition and origin are unknown, although Castiel managed to get some in Jerusalem. The circle of sacred fire will hold the angel as well as the devil's trap - the demon. Sacred fire can also be used to burn angels in their vessels, or at least cause them to teleport to the nearest body of water.

At first, in the world of "Supernatural" angels did not exist. And in Providence, Rhode Island, in episode 2.13. "Promised Heaven" Sam and Dean Winchesters saw this firsthand when they encountered the vengeful but disinterested ghost of a deceased priest, Father Gregory, whom Sam mistook for an angel. The ghost pushed those who yearned for redemption to kill those who committed atrocities and deserved to die. This went on until he himself was finally laid to rest.

After such an incident, can the brothers be blamed for their skepticism about the existence of angels? This continued until Castiel pulled Dean out of hell, and the Winchesters realized that with such they have not yet encountered angels ...

Angels

While modern popular culture portrays angels as beautiful winged maidens or plump baby cupids, traditionally the angels described in the Bible and other religious texts represent something completely different.

In the Old Testament, angels are not only the messengers of the Almighty, but also warriors or guards, smashing the enemies of the Lord and bringing retribution. According to the texts, they can either have their own free will or simply carry the will of God.

Although angels are often represented in human form, there is evidence that angels do not look like humans. In Supernatural, Castiel explained that it is dangerous for a person to look at him in his true form. (the medium Pamela lost her eyes when she saw his appearance), and so he had to take on the body of a devout man in order to communicate with Sam, Dean, and everyone else.

In some Roman Catholic texts, angels were associated with the days of the week. So Castiel, for example, is the angel of Thursday.

Traditionally, there are several angelic ranks, each of which has its own duties, capabilities and appearance.

Archangels

Archangels are the highest rank, they are most familiar to those who honor Christian traditions.

The names of many angels are not in the Bible, but the names of the four main archangels are known to everyone - these are (names are given in a more familiar Orthodox version) Gabriel, Michael and Raphael, the latter's name changed depending on the texts. According to some sources, the name of the latter is Uriel (or Muriel). In the universe of "Supernatural" Uriel (in Orthodoxy Uriel) submits to Castiel, but does this mean that his rank is lower, we do not yet know.

Other sources, such as the Book of Enoch mentioned in the New Testament, say that there are seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Zahariel and Jeremiel. But it seems that Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are the most famous of them.

seraphim

Next after the archangels in the divine hierarchy are the seraphim. The Book of Isaiah says that these creatures emit such a bright light that it is impossible to look at them. For the first time seraphim appear in the Bible in the Revelations of John the Theologian. They are part of the divine choir and watch over God's Throne.

Seraphim are often associated with fire, with which they purify and destroy darkness.

Cherubim

The third rank in the divine hierarchy is cherubim. Despite the name, they have nothing to do with chubby winged babies. (cherubs are often called infants). In the Book of Genesis, the cherubim are represented as angels guarding the left side of the Garden of Eden "with a fiery sword looking in all directions." Speaking of cherubs, Uriel is often mentioned, whose name means "Light of God."

Artists represent cherubs with the heads of a lion, eagle, bull or man and with four wings. Sometimes these wings are depicted with covered eyes, thus showing the all-seeing essence of the cherubs.

Thrones

Mentioned in the Book of Daniel, these divine beings carry God's Throne. Depicted as huge wheels of fire with many eyes. Thrones are usually perceived as guardians of divine energy.

Other

The lower ranks include dominions, virtues, powers and principles, each of which has its own role. Some believe that the book of Ephesians says that the devil was once mighty, but then lost grace.

Nephilim

According to the Book of Enoch, some of the fallen angels, Grirogs, fell in love with earthly women and took them as wives, and from their union children were obtained - half-angels. Such children were called Nephilim; they were famous for their high growth, were famous and influential.

Who are the Angels

Angels are heavenly beings created by God. These are winged spirits, in their true essence, they emit a holy white light, deadly for many people, monsters and demons. Angels were created before humans and therefore they are much stronger.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Characteristic
Angels are very strong beings, and their true appearance can burn out the eyes of a person. The true appearance of an Angel can only be seen by their own vessels. In the fourth season, psychic Pamela Barnes used her supernatural abilities to find the one who resurrected Dean, but Castiel, who appeared at her call, blinded her with his appearance.
Between themselves, the angels speak the Enochian language and transmit messages to each other in the form of radio waves. Interestingly, angels can pick up earth radio waves. And for a person, their voice sounds like a high-frequency sound that causes severe pain and can destroy fragile objects.
Fallen angel Anna says that angels are forbidden to sympathize and experience emotions. She even compares angels to statues in terms of being just as cold and unfeeling. But many angels, contrary to the prohibition, experience emotions (for example, Zechariah - anger and pride). This is the other extreme in angelic behavior. Also, an angel can be sympathetic, caring and subjective if a person is dear to him, but then the angel can lose his strength, but be close to his beloved friend. A good example of this is Castiel. But angels cannot experience the same range of feelings as a person. Many of them do not understand human humor, slang and speech patterns. Gabriel is one of the few who had a sense of humor and perfectly understood people.
Angels are born warriors and must unquestioningly carry out the will of their commanders. They do not understand how it is possible to exist without a boss, without someone who would manage them. Castiel tried to teach them free will, but as he himself noted, it is extremely difficult, almost impossible.
Grace gives strength to an angel. An angel deprived of grace can absorb the grace of another angel. This ability was demonstrated by Castiel after he was deprived of the grace of Metatron. But the stolen grace does not completely obey the thief and burns out over time, which can lead to the death of the angel. Angel's Grace is the final component of the spell to banish all angels from Paradise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Appearance

Angels have wings, but people cannot see them. Zechariah called this "limitation." People can see wings in several cases: after the death of an angel, a burnt trace of wings remains on the ground; in a flash of bright light, the wings of an angel can cast a shadow.

Zechariah, who was a seraphim, claimed that he had six wings and four faces, one of which was a lion's. But Castiel, who became a seraph after being resurrected, only had two wings. The difference can be explained by the difference in the rank or power of the angels, or by the limitations of human perception, which is not able to see the true appearance of an angel. Since, after the death of the archangels, the imprint also showed two wings, the second explanation is more likely.

In their true form, angels are huge. So Castiel claimed that he was the size of the Chrysler Building, which is 320 meters high. When about to take the vessel, the angels take the form of a column of dazzling white light from heaven, after the fall of heaven they take the form of gray-white-blue smoke sparkling with blue sparks.

Varieties of angels

The series featured the following types of angels:

Angels are the most numerous group of celestial beings, they can be called ordinary warriors. However, they are still very powerful, much stronger than many demons and humans, they are difficult to kill.

Archangels - being the "firstborn" of God, they are extremely powerful beings, having great power over Heaven and other Angels. There are only four of them in the series, but after the departure of God, the fall of Lucifer and the escape of Gabriel, the remaining Michael and Raphael took control of the universe into their own hands.

Grigorii are elite angels, once almost completely exterminated by other angels.

Seraphim are elite angels close to God. They are much stronger than usual and they do not need a connection with heaven.

Reet Ziens are angels who perform special tasks. They perform the duties of orderlies of the Heavenly Host. If the angel is lightly wounded, Rit Zien heals him, if he is seriously wounded, he kills him with the help of a special ability - Killing Touch.

Cherubs or Cupids - bring people together, as happened with John and Mary Winchester. There are several special abilities.

Fallen angels - angels expelled from Heaven as a punishment or left of their own free will:

Lucifer - the first fallen angel, was expelled for disobedience and rebellion, imprisoned in a cage.

Gabriel - left of his own free will, although he did not lose his strength, since he is an Archangel.

Castiel - was cut off from Heaven and stripped of his abilities. But later, God restored his abilities and allowed him to return to Heaven.

Anna Milton - was punished by exile, as she began to experience emotions, on Earth she embodied in the form of a person. She later regained her grace and regained the powers of an angel.

Balthazar, an angel who escaped from heaven and was considered dead for a long time, also stole a whole arsenal of valuable artifacts from Heaven.

As a result of certain actions, angels can significantly increase their strength. The series featured two types of altered angels:

A mutated angel is an angel that has increased its strength by absorbing souls.

An angel strengthened by a tablet - an angel who increased his strength with the help of an angelic tablet.

The type of angels also includes:

The Nephilim are the offspring of humans and angels. Such connections among angels are prohibited. Metatron called the only Nephilim he met a "bad creature". They are known to have the gift of supernatural perception, superhuman strength. The eyes of the Nephilim are smoky gray.

Reapers are angels who serve death and take the souls of dead people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Powers and abilities
Suppression - angels and archangels are able to block the forces of weaker creatures.
Holy White Light - Seraphim and Archangels have the ability to generate white light, with which they can kill almost any creature.
Supernatural Perception - Angels can see the true appearance of monsters, demons, ghosts, reapers, leviathans, and each other.
Influence on the weather - the appearance of the archangel can be predicted. Before their appearance, thunderstorms, strong winds, earthquakes occur.
Invisibility - Angels can be invisible to humans.
Telepathy - angels have a special "radio" through which they communicate with each other and receive orders from superior angels. Their "radio" is an analogue of the earth, and the angels can pick up the waves of ordinary radio.
Knowledge of the world - archangels have extensive knowledge of the universe. Angels are also versed in many areas of knowledge and know special rites and spells.
Kamikaze - with the help of a special sigil of Enoch carved on his chest, an angel can kill himself by focusing and directing all the energy of perishing grace. It is a powerful "last chance" weapon that can be used to destroy another angel or destroy an extremely strong structure. Used mostly by Metatron's double agents in the series.
Manifestation of seals - with the help of a beam of light from the palm of the hand, an angel can reveal the usually invisible symbols of Enoch to the human eye.
Painless Kill - the ability of a special detachment of Heavenly Orderlies, capable of killing an angel or a person with a simple touch, pulverizing it to the smallest particles. It was used in cases when the angel felt a strong pain of the "patient". However, the power of people's emotions, surpassing that of angels, confuses them. As a result, they kill those people who are at least a little sick or upset.
Essence Demonstration is not a combat ability, but thanks to it, an angel can make people who do not believe them show their essence, emitting bright light around the entire vessel and casting shadows of wings, and it can also make monsters flee.
Possession - unlike demons, angels cannot inhabit a person without his permission, which is why the battle between Lucifer and Michael had to take place with the consent of both Winchesters. Despite the fact that Lucifer is the ruler of hell, he is an Archangel and has no right to move in without the consent of a person. However, nothing prevents them from forcing a person to consent by blackmail or intimidation.
Teleportation - all angels have the ability to move from one place to another, however, there are special symbols and spells that prevent them from doing this. Apparently, this is nothing more than instantaneous flight with the help of their wings. This is evidenced by a characteristic sound similar to the rustle of feathers, and the fact that after the fall at the end of season 8, as a result of which all the angels had their wings broken (or incinerated), they lost this ability. After that, they had to use human vehicles.
Telekinesis - All angels can move objects with their minds. They do this with enough force to throw a person to the side or pin him against a wall.
Superhuman Strength - Angels are much more powerful than humans. This can be seen when Castiel lifts the anvil that weighs a ton.
Demon Slaying - Angels can kill a possessed person and the demon inside them by placing their hand on their forehead, though this does not work on powerful demons like Alastair and possibly Lilith, Crowley and Azazel. Only seraphim and archangels can kill such demons in this way. At the same time, the angel does not have to make an effort, just put his hand on his forehead (or another part of his head) and hold it for a while. The angel probably needs to have a desire to harm the demon for this ability to work (Lucifer, touching Meg's head, does not harm her), or the demon must be under the protection of a more powerful angel, so that the ability would not work on him (Castiel, touching forehead of Crowley, did not kill him, since he was under the protection of Raphael.
Monster Slaying - Angels can kill monsters (like vampires like Castiel did), an ability similar to Demon Slaying, but it is not necessary to place a hand on the forehead.
Disabling consciousness - angels can put a person into a state of fainting or sleep by placing two fingers on the bridge of the nose.
Healing - all angels can heal a person from wounds or illnesses. They are also able to heal other angels or their vessels.
Resurrection - angels can resurrect a dead person, but if his human soul went to hell, then for this you will have to go down to the underworld and pull him out of there.
Time travel - all angels can travel to the past and future, but this requires a lot of strength and a connection with heaven (for ordinary angels). Seraphim and archangels can move through time without much effort.
Memory manipulation - not all angels can correct memories by erasing or replacing them, however, this will not work with serious and important memories, for example, with the memories of hell.
Immortality - Angels can live forever, although they are not invulnerable, it follows that they can be killed.
Soul reading - angels can find out what happened to a person's soul by touching it. Also, angels can “recharge” from it, but “recharging” is a rather dangerous process.
Reality Warping - Powerful angels can change objects and make them out of thin air, like Gabriel did, as well as create separate realities.
Pyrokinesis - Some angels can set objects on fire, like Castiel did with Crowley's bones to kill him.
Matchmaking - Cherubim can make people fall in love with each other, as if their marriage was arranged in heaven.
Time Stop - Strong angels are able to stop time and move freely, as seen when Castiel was talking to Atropos.
Diseases - the ability of powerful angels, the essence of which is that an angel can cause any disease in a target at any stage (for example, Zacharias caused Dean's stomach cancer of the 4th stage).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Weaknesses

Angels are extremely powerful beings, so killing them is also difficult. Uriel said that only another angel can kill one angel, but this is not so. Perhaps it meant that only an angel wields an angel blade, therefore only an angel can kill his fellow.

Blood Symbol of Enoch - If you draw the symbol with blood and hit the middle with a sharp blow, the angel in the room with the inscribed symbol will be moved to another place, as far as possible from the location of the symbol. The symbol must be from human blood (mandatory).

Anti-Angel Symbols - Symbols that block the powers of angels other than Metatron, making them more vulnerable. Some symbols prevent angels from entering buildings.

Exorcism - powerful demons can expel an angel from his vessel to heaven, similar to the exorcism of a demon, but at the same time his eyes and mouth will glow with a bright white glow. Perhaps the angel can be driven into a circle of holy oil and a rite of exile performed.

Holy oil - if you draw a line or circle with oil and then set it on fire, then not a single angel (except for an angel who owns the power of God's word) or archangel (except for Michael) will be able to cross the line, otherwise he will die.

Angel Blade - A special blade that can kill an angel and that every angel has. In this case, a bright light will radiate from the wound.

The first blade is capable of killing angels, Seraphim, and possibly archangels.

Heavy hit - can stun (Uriel stunned Castiel with a blow of a pipe to the head, and Benjamin was stunned by a man with a blow of a stone to the head)

Gregory's sword is a weapon possessed by a special detachment of angels - observers (Gregory). Since Gregory is a special detachment and they have special swords, on which the name of the owner of the weapon is carved. Similar in strength to an angel blade.

The Archangel Sword is one of the deadliest weapons featured in the series that is capable of killing archangels.

Lucifer's cage is a cage strong enough to contain both archangels and angels.

Seal of Enoch - inscribed Enochian symbols on something will hide this item from the field of view of angels and archangels, except for Metatron.

Weapons of Heaven - A whole arsenal of weapons, which, for sure, contains tools that can harm many creatures. For example, Balthazar used Lot's stone to turn Raphael's vessel into salt.

Powerful Demons - Powerful demons can easily destroy mere angels, as the Lords of Hell are able to turn them into dust with a touch

The Antichrist is a half-demon (Jesse). As Castiel said, one word can destroy all angels. Although this is only because of the appearance of Lucifer on Earth.

Eve - she was able to neutralize the forces of the seraphim, it is not known whether she can kill the angels.

Archangels - they are many times stronger than fellow angels.

Leviathans - they have an undeniable advantage over the angels, because they were created before them and can suppress their abilities.

Death - he can easily kill any angel, since he is many times stronger than all of them.

God - created angels, which means that he can easily destroy them.

Weakness - if the powers of an angel have practically dried up, a person possessed by this angel (shell) will be able to independently expel him from himself.

Focused light of grace - the angel can be destroyed along with the vessel if another angel kills himself and directs the energy with the symbol of Enoch.

Darkness - the sister of God will easily kill any angel (including archangels).

Spear of Michael and Spear of Lucifer - kills angels slowly and painfully.

Played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki respectively. In season 5, another important character appears in the series - an angel named Castiel, played by Misha Collins.

About the series

The brothers' mother died under strange circumstances, after which their father, John, began to fight evil spirits. The brothers also begin to do the same, becoming older. At some point, John disappears, and the sons rush to find him.

Despite the common type of activity, Sam and Dean are completely different. Dean is the older brother, more cold-blooded and capable of killing if the situation calls for it. Sam, being a younger brother, who was saved by an older brother as a child, is rather soft, opposes aggression and, of course, murders.

Archangels in Supernatural

A separate place in the series is occupied by archangels. They are the messengers of God. They have their own characteristics, for example, each of them can find a vessel that a person serves. But their specificity lies in the fact that not all people can become the vessels needed by the archangels, because the body of an ordinary person is not able to withstand the full power of the archangels. That is why the elder angels are looking for the descendants of certain people, for example, the descendants of the sons of Adam (Abel and Cain).

Another ability is invulnerability. It is known that only Death, God or Darkness can kill the archangel from living beings. In addition to them, there is a list of artifacts that can seriously injure or even kill the archangel, these include the sickle of Death, holy oil and the blade of the archangel. It should be borne in mind that the messenger of God can only be killed by the same messenger.

Who is the archangel?

Due to the fact that the archangels in the Supernatural series are the children of God, his first "creations", there are not so many of them. They raised each other, loved their father and ordinary angels, their followers. It was to the love of God that they were taught. Archangels were created by God in order to fight his sister - Darkness. After he won, he handed over the key to the place of imprisonment to his beloved archangel - Lucifer.

The eldest of all the archangels is Michael, it was he who was the first creation of God. In addition, only Mikhail had the ability to use the vessel without killing him in the process. It is worth considering that later Michael and Lucifer, whom he loved very much, had conflicts, after which Michael expelled him from Heaven. Some time later, the eldest of the archangels was imprisoned in the cage of Lucifer.

Lucifer is a fallen angel, he created demons. The first demon was Lilith - the first man. Lucifer seduced her to avenge her expulsion from Heaven. He used Castiel as a vessel (however, he was banished by Amara). Lucifer later died at the hands of Dean Winchester.

Another archangel in Supernatural is Raphael. After God left the archangels, Raphael and Michael took all power into their own hands. After Mikhail was imprisoned in a cage, Raphael "inherited" all power and became Mikhail's deputy. Raphael died at the hands of Castiel, who mutated before that.

The last name of the archangel from Supernatural is Gabriel. He is the younger brother of two warring personalities - Lucifer and Michael. During the so-called civil war in Heaven, Gabriel fled to Earth so as not to choose the side of one of his older brothers. Everyone assumed that on Earth Lucifer killed Gabriel, but later it became known that the younger brother still survived. Gabriel died while fighting Michael from the alternate universe.

Another archangel from the series is Michael, but he is from an alternate reality. An alternate universe is a reality in which the apocalypse took place. The "alternative" Michael ruled his own universe, and later, having learned about the existence of another, he decided to capture it too. In this he was helped by one of the main characters - Dean Winchester. Dean became Michael's temporary vessel and killed Lucifer, and Michael took a new "permanent" vessel.

Blade of the Archangel in Supernatural

The blade is an item that is one of the most powerful things in the universe, however, exclusively in the hands of the archangel. It is also called the sword of the archangel. He first appears in episode 19 of season 5 - Gabriel dies from him. Throughout the series, not all swords are shown, but only a few of them: Raphael, Gabriel, Lucifer, as well as an alternative Michael.
