DRUG ADDICTION is... DRUG ADDICTION (from the Greek nark - numbness, mania - madness, passion) is a disease expressed in the physical and/or mental dependence of the user on drugs, gradually leading to the destruction of his body. It is necessary to distinguish between the concepts of "drug use", "drug addiction" and "drug addiction".

slide 3

DRUG ADDICTION The consumption of narcotic drugs is similar in principle to the consumption of alcohol and tobacco: all these substances are referred to as "harmful goods" because they give the consumer a subjective feeling of pleasure, but at the same time harm his body.

slide 4

Use Drug use can take place not only “for the sake of pleasure”, but be recommended by a doctor as a drug (as an analgesic, sleeping pill, psychostimulant).

slide 5

If drug use occurs regularly, then changes occur in the user's body, as a result of which physical and / or mental dependence on drugs is gradually formed. As a result, drug use becomes necessary to relieve pain (“withdrawal”). The condition in which a person feels the need to regularly take drugs is called drug addiction. Narcotism is a social phenomenon, expressed in the consumption of drugs by a certain part of the population and the corresponding consequences. However, often the concept of "drug addiction" denotes both the individual state of the drug user and mass drug use.

slide 6

The development of drug addiction European society became acquainted with drugs brought from the East (hashish, opium) at the beginning of the 19th century. They became popular not only as painkillers, but also as "mind-expanding" agents. Initially, drug addiction developed only in bohemian circles. After the Opium Wars of 1839-1860, the Europeans forced the government of the Chinese Empire to legalize the trade in opium, which the British brought from India. Since earlier in China, drugs were almost unknown and there was no culture of their consumption, drug addiction literally overwhelmed this poor country. Chinese migrants brought opium smoking to America. Thus, by the beginning of the 20th century. drug addiction has already become known in many countries of the world, but is widespread only in certain social strata (criminals, bohemian elite, former military). After the ban on the legal trade in drugs, the circle of their users was mainly limited to the “social bottom”.

Slide 7

The Development of Drug Addiction The turning point came in the 1960s, when a “youth revolution” in the atmosphere of a “welfare society” drew first the youth into drug use, and then the middle strata of America and Western Europe. For several years, the scale of drug addiction in developed countries has increased several times. A steady trend of increasing drug addiction operated in the countries of the "golden billion" until the 1990s, when the AIDS epidemic and the growing popularity of a healthy lifestyle somewhat reduced the attractiveness of drugs. The aggravation of socio-economic problems in the countries of the "third world" led to an increase in drug use in the second half of the 20th century. and in these states. By the end of the 20th century drug addiction began to be called one of the global problems of our time.

Painful craving for drug use - drug addiction - the scourge of modern society. The rate of growth of this disease is horrendous, and the death rate from drug addiction exceeds any existing disease. Many human lives have been taken away by this disease. This is the path to crime and prison, to death and despair. Drug addiction has captivated the world of teenagers and is getting younger every year. Drug addiction among children today is also a common phenomenon. Parents who use drugs themselves make their children drug addicts. Our future, our hopes, are in the hands of chemical addicts. There are many types of addiction, but drug addiction is very complex. Narcotic captivity holds not only the body, but also the human psyche. For the sake of the next dose of the drug, drug addicts will go to robbery, deceit, or even murder.

The first stage is psychological dependence. It develops after the first use. After 1-2 months, the dependence becomes physical (second stage). After 6 months of regular drug use, the third stage begins, such people are already dangerous to society. They do not control their actions and act solely for the purpose of obtaining a drug substance. Drug addiction among teenagers goes through all three stages even faster and turns people into real zombies.

There are quite a few of them. The main causes of drug addiction lie in social conditions and inattention of parents, but each case is individual.

So, among the main causes of drug addiction are:

  • Internal problems (trouble, social inequality, misunderstanding in the family),
  • Curiosity (many people think that it is fashionable, or at least once in a lifetime you need to try everything),
  • Looking for new sensations
  • friends example,
  • Protest against the circumstances
  • The desire to assert themselves and seem more mature,
  • Availability of drugs.

These factors together and individually make it possible for such a disease as drug addiction to spread rapidly and destroy society.

Every year, millions of residents turn to specialized clinics in an attempt to recover from drug addiction. In many cases, not just detoxification of the body is required, but long-term treatment and recovery. In some cases, addiction treatment works, but in most cases it comes down to relapse. A guarantee of a positive result is given only by advertising posters and announcements. In practice, a small percentage of the total number of drug addicts can be treated, especially if treatment is started in the later stages of the disease. There are many methods to help get rid of drug addiction. Among them are psychotherapy, hypnosis, coding, drug treatment. Addiction treatment can be done anonymously or in groups. All of them differ both in efficiency and cost. In any case, no matter what method is chosen, drug addiction treatment should be trusted to professionals. You can’t trust people who promise not to use drugs again after the next injection. The legislation even provides for compulsory treatment for drug addiction.

Of course, drug addiction is difficult to fight, but it is necessary to fight! In no case should you give up and leave a person to the mercy of fate. Our loved ones may find themselves in such a situation, the indifference of society will destroy them. The fight against drug addiction is the duty of every inhabitant of the planet. And you need to start with prevention.

Prevention of drug addiction

As already mentioned, it is possible to eradicate drug addiction only with the help of effective prevention. Preventive measures should be carried out both individually in each family and in society. Parents need to carefully monitor the children and their environment, prevent the child from communicating with suspicious personalities, and protect them from the negative influence of the street. It is necessary to correctly distribute the daily routine in such a way that the children's body is not overloaded and, at the same time, the child is interested in doing something, and not loitering around. It is from idleness that the lion's share of teenagers become drug addicts. In general, adolescents automatically fall into the risk group, often adolescence completely changes a person, it is precisely such moments that can become a starting point for drug addiction.

Anti-Drug Day.

Recently, audio addiction has become widespread. This is the impact of binaural beats that mimic the action of individual drugs. This technique was developed for prevention purposes, so that anyone who is interested in experiencing the effects of a drug without actually using it can evaluate their feelings and stop using drugs in the future. But contrary to expectations, such a program backfired, and many healthy people, after listening to the audio files, decided to try real drugs.

There is also symptomatic prevention of drug addiction. Such interventions are effective for individuals who have a history of drug use but who are not clinically identified as drug addicts.

Rehabilitation of drug addicts

Special attention should be paid to such a preventive measure as rehabilitation. To help a former drug addict become a full-fledged part of society, to give a chance to correct the situation, to find the key to the joys of everyday life - these are the main tasks of rehabilitation. Here, the stages of psychological, psychiatric and social assistance, occupational therapy and religious canons are consistently applied. If anonymous treatment of drug addiction took place, all measures are taken so that even after the end of the course of treatment, information about the patient does not go beyond the walls of the medical institution.

Traditional rehabilitation methods are designed to return a person to society, to restore his social status. Religious ones, on the contrary, are aimed at leaving a person from the social environment, his solitude and self-knowledge. Such methods will be effective only for those people who do not want to return to the public way of life.

Consequences of drug addiction

You can not think about the consequences of drug addiction, you can not talk, you can not notice them, or not feel them, but they exist. These are the conditions in which our children will have to live. What will our world be like in a few generations if we do not take care that drug and substance abuse does not progress? The consequences of drug addiction will affect everyone: those who distribute drugs, and those who use them, and those who are just around.

Everyone who has at least somehow participated in the distribution of drugs, but does not use them himself, has a risk of feeling the consequences through his own children. After all, in the future our children will build the same society that we are building now. And drug addiction among young people can in the future lead to complete degradation not only of an individual, but of society as a whole.

People who are surrounded by drug addicts, but who are not drug addicts, risk being sucked into this swamp of death.

Finally, drug addicts themselves cause irreparable harm to their health. In pregnant women, the harm of drug addiction is especially noticeable. The unborn child suffers the most. Numerous pathologies and malformations, anomalies and mutations - this is the price of the next dose. In the event that a child is born healthy, being in an environment of drug addicts, he himself will eventually become a drug addict.

Even people who do not have drug addicts in their environment feel the consequences of drug addiction. This is the common pain of mankind. This is the #1 problem in many countries. Enormous funds are allocated for its solution, but everyone determines his own destiny. The problem of drug addiction affects everyone. As long as there are indifferent people in society, this problem cannot be eradicated. Only by joining forces can we win this war. Take action! Do not be silent! Look around, perhaps someone at this very moment needs your help. Protect your loved ones from a fatal mistake, do not let them step onto the slippery path of death. Only a united strong society can stand against drug addiction. Do not be indifferent, indifference destroys people. Fight and overcome this terrible disease.

Drug addiction as a social problem

In modern society, all countries are united by a global problem that has affected almost all corners of our planet. This is addiction. In each country, the fight against this social ailment is carried out according to its own methodology.

For example, in the United States, psychological assistance is considered the most effective, the purpose of which is to eliminate the craving for the use of intoxicating substances from a drug addict. This way of treating drug addiction has an effect in a country where people actively use the services of psychoanalysts, attend group psychotherapy sessions and clubs of anonymous addicts.

But in our country, the treatment of drug addicts by methods of suggestion is doomed to failure. Of course, in Russia there are many rehabilitation centers that practice treatment according to methods borrowed from colleagues from overseas, but undergoing expensive treatment and rehabilitation in them, drug addicts will soon return to drug use.

In our country, drug addiction as a social problem can be solved only if all segments of the population are involved in the fight against this disease. After all, all the efforts of teachers explaining to children in the classroom the harm and danger of drug use turn out to be in vain if they are not supported by the teenager's parents, who, due to their busyness, do not have time to pay enough attention to their son or daughter.

Getting on the street, a teenager very often takes a step into the "abyss" called "drug euphoria", from which there is no way back in many cases. In other words, in the youth and adolescent environment, drug addiction prevention is effective only if it is carried out equally persistently at all levels of influence and covers all the “levers” that the younger generation can withstand such a “quagmire”.

According to statistics, drug addiction in adolescence draws a person several times stronger than if he starts using drugs as an adult. This once again confirms that this "plague" of our century should be prevented without waiting for this "wheel" to spin at full strength. Then it will be too difficult to stop him or turn back.

The main percentage of deaths from drugs also falls on young people, because the body of a teenager is not yet strong enough, and adolescent maximalism is of no small importance. This is the reason teenagers overdosed on drugs. Nervous breakdowns and the use of excessive doses of narcotic substances are due to the inexperience of young people and depressive syndrome during adolescence.

The problematic of the fight against drug addiction lies in the fact that this ailment is more infected by segments of the population that are not able to protect themselves psychologically. That is, a socially protected person who has the opportunity to study, work, feed a family, have a house, etc., will never use drugs, because this makes no sense. But people who, for one reason or another, are deprived of the possibility of a normal existence in society, often turn to drugs in order to create for themselves the illusion of life satisfaction and peace, albeit a short-term one.

This theory is confirmed all over the world - drug trafficking and their use are mostly carried out by people who cannot exist otherwise. In England and the USA it is blacks who still have fewer rights than whites. So it turns out that drug addiction is a logical social phenomenon, expressed in the division of people in developed countries into social strata. From this it follows that drug addicts are a certain caste of people who have come to terms with their lack of demand in society and have chosen instead of the real world, where they could not find a place, the world of illusions.

But addiction is curable, and this should be remembered. You can not put an end to stumbled people who have chosen the wrong path. After all, the essence of drug addiction, like the drug addict himself, is in the weakness of character and the inability to control and struggle. This means that these people need help.

A problem like drug addiction needs immediate action to eradicate it. But it seems that in modern society they will seriously begin to engage in it only when the powerful of this world begin to die from this misfortune. In the meantime, ineffective activities with a limited budget are being carried out, bringing the same meager effect. Drug addiction as a social problem should be addressed at all levels, stimulating parents to devote more time to raising their growing children.

Drug addiction as a socio-pedagogical problem

Drug addiction can be called a socio-pedagogical problem, as it covers mostly young people. The age of the average drug addict is getting smaller every year.

In today's youth society, a certain drug subculture is cultivated, which is especially attractive to young citizens. This is facilitated by the revelations of idols and the lack of effective anti-drug propaganda. It has been established that the earlier a person takes psychoactive substances, the faster he develops drug addiction, the more severe the course of the disease, the more negative social, personal and medical consequences are manifested. And the less effective are preventive, corrective and rehabilitation programs.

Now a large group of children and adolescents who, due to their behavioral characteristics, social and school maladaptation, “fall out” from the number of prosperous peers and are not covered by primary prevention programs, are in need of emergency preventive care.

The growth in the number of drug addicted adolescents and the underestimation of the seriousness of this problem by society, the lack of models of anti-drug education require the search for other forms of social and pedagogical work.

Drug addiction as a medical and social problem

Drug addiction and substance abuse are medical and social problems that affect the level of morbidity and mortality. Among substance abusers and drug addicts, the risk of contracting AIDS is very high.

Drug addiction is an intractable disease that leads to the death of the patient. So, drug addicts die on average at the age of 25, and after the start of regular drug use, they live no more than 4 years. Among drug addicts there are even children of 7-8 years old. Half of drug addicts die before the age of 20 from an overdose during episodic use of a psychoactive drug, even without being drug addicts.

Drug addiction is the cause of high disability of the population. Being intoxicated, patients cannot control their actions, which often leads to suicide or serious crimes. Unhealthy addiction to drugs criminalizes our society. And the use of shared syringes and needles when injecting drugs leads to the spread of hepatitis and HIV infection. But drug addicts themselves rarely seek medical help, so various pathologies in these people are not often detected, and, accordingly, they are also rarely treated. The neglect of diseases and injuries creates difficulties in effective treatment.

When you see footage from the life of drug addicts, you are amazed at how much physical suffering these people endure from various wounds, ulcers that occur due to constant drug injections. And they endure all this, not wanting to give up drugs, because they become the goal and meaning of their existence. Precisely existence, because it is difficult to call it life.

Why does a person start or continue to use drugs? A number of reasons contribute to this: simple curiosity, a sense of protest and a challenge to society, a desire to get away from problems, etc. The drug is used as a means of escaping from society, which is perceived as a source of danger to a person. This flight can be both individual and collective. As you know, adolescents are very susceptible to the influence of their peers, therefore, emotionally stronger peers are able to involve weak-willed adolescents who are not self-confident and do not have the strength to resist the company into drug addiction.

A person's behavior directly depends on the welfare of society, and the conditions of social life significantly determine his views and beliefs. The crisis leads to various forms of deviant behavior, among which is drug addiction.

Among the factors that provoke drug addiction, one can also name the availability of psychoactive substances, and this accessibility is both physical and emotional (that is, there is no attitude in society against the use of drugs).

Among the facts that testify to the growing number of drug addicts in Russia are data on the contingent of infectious, therapeutic, tuberculosis, surgical, traumatological, oncological, toxicological and other departments of hospitals that provide assistance to patients in connection with complications caused by drug addiction and alcoholization.

Homeless children, among whom the use of psychoactive substances is often an integral part of life, are not covered by statistics.

Individual enthusiasts-philanthropists, religious and public organizations are not able to solve this problem, especially if statesmen not only do not recognize its existence, but also prevent the organization of shelters for such children, arguing that there is no such situation in the country.

Therefore, an increase in the number of anonymous rooms, rehabilitation centers, intensive care wards for emergency care for drug patients is a necessary measure against the growth of drug addiction.

The main types of changes in consciousness: 1. Illusions - a distorted perception of reality. Taking a number of drugs leads to the feeling that life is filled with colors, has become friendlier. Other drugs allow you to increase or decrease the severity of perception of reality, exciting or calming us. 2. Hallucinations - a deception of the senses, sensations from what does not really exist. There are visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, gustatory hallucinations. 3. Delusions - wrong ideas about what is happening. A prime example of delusion is the delusion of persecution: from the fact that someone is following, it is concluded that the person is being persecuted.

Chemical addiction Chemical addiction can be compared to a train. This train has different cars: alcohol, opiates, sedatives, stimulants, nicotine, etc. The train confidently carries its passengers to the destination station, whose name is "Madness and Death". Not a single person voluntarily enters this train. Of course, not all people who use drugs, alcohol and nicotine get sick, that is, they get on this train. But a person who tries these substances has already taken a ticket and at some point in time may suddenly discover that he is already a passenger. Over time, the journey becomes painful. Many people, trying to get off this train, in fact, without realizing it, roam its carriages, continuing to suffer and approach the tragic goal of the journey. For example, a person who has stopped using marijuana and heroin continues to use alcohol without seeing it as a problem. But if a passenger has moved to another carriage, does this mean that he is no longer traveling on the train itself? People who try to get off this train by stopping all mind-altering substances also fail, as they find themselves in a void, having lost the meaning of life, and as a result return to the train with no other way out. In order to solve the problem of chemical addiction, it is not enough to get off the train called “Chemical addiction”, you need to transfer to another train called “Recovery”, the final destination of which is “A happy, fulfilling healthy lifestyle”.

Parable “One cold evening, three travelers drove up to the fortress wall that surrounded the city, and stopped in front of the gate. The fortress gates were then locked at night, and travelers were forced to spend the night under the open sky. Luckily for them, there was a caravanserai nearby, a warm, cozy teahouse where one could have a hearty dinner with hot, fatty pilaf, drink grape wine or fragrant tea, and then relax on a soft bedding. The one who arrived on a horse drank wine, the one who arrived on a camel smoked a pipe with marijuana, and the one who arrived on a donkey took a dose of opium. After some time, the funds accepted began to have their “magic” effect on travelers. The rider who arrived on horseback exclaimed loudly: “Why are we going to freeze in the rain all night? Let's break down the gates and get into the city!" A traveler who arrived on a camel objected to him: “Why break the gate? We can enter the city through the keyhole!” Their dispute was judged by the one who arrived on a donkey: “Why do we need to make our way there at all? It’s so nice and cozy here!” How do you understand the meaning of this parable?

The relevance of the work lies in the widespread drug addiction among adolescents in modern society. A study of the problem of drug addiction among young people shows that in a number of cases, adolescents decided to use drugs because of poor awareness in this area.

Drug addiction Drug addiction is a disease resulting from the abuse of drugs and narcotic active substances. Drug addiction is manifested by the constant need to take narcotic substances, since the mental and physical state of a person depends on whether he has taken the drug he needs or not. Drug addiction leads to a gross violation of the body's vital functions and social degradation.

Drug addiction Drug addiction is a serious psychophysiological illness. Its treatment requires high costs, but still does not provide a high probability of cure. According to some estimates, as a result of traditional drug treatment, only 5% of patients stop using drugs, and even those after a few months again become drug users.

Narcotism Narcotism is a social phenomenon, expressed in the consumption of narcotic drugs by a certain part of the population and the corresponding consequences. The word “addiction” refers to both the individual state of the drug user and mass drug use.

Drug dependence As the drug is used, the effect of the drug weakens, and the patient is forced to increase the dose of the narcotic substance in order to achieve the same effect. Intoxication becomes pleasant rather because the state of sobriety is unpleasant, the person becomes restless, tense, unable to concentrate on anything, distract from thoughts about the drug. Only the introduction of the next portion of the drug brings him to a "normal" state. This is how addiction develops.

Problems of drug addiction and drug addiction One of the main problems discussed by scientists is the explanation of the causes of drug addiction. Sociologists consider drug addiction as one of the forms of deviant (deviant) behavior, i.e. behavior that does not correspond to the officially established or actually established in this society norms, stereotypes and patterns of behavior.

According to the data of the World Health Organization and the results of numerous works carried out by domestic researchers, the whole variety of socio-psychological factors that create conditions for drug addiction can be represented as three levels of causal complexes: macrosocial, microsocial and personal.

Macro-social level Macro-social level: the depth of the socio-economic and political crisis in the country or region with rising inflation, unemployment, non-payments, strikes, population migration, homelessness; imperfection of legislation, violations of the Constitution, use of certain articles of legislation (“legal stereotypes”);

Microsocial level Microsocial level: distortion and violation of the structure and functions of the family, low educational, pedagogical and cultural level of parents, negative psychological climate and alienation in the family, lack of government assistance in raising children, pedagogical and social neglect in the presence of a family, weak social control and low legal culture of the family and control by society and the state

Personal level personal immaturity in family and social life, a narrow circle of interests, antisocial hobbies, low spiritual demands, stereotypical behavior; uncertainty of professional orientation, lack of socially significant attitudes; lack of social motivations, loss of prospects for professional and personal growth; consumer attitude to life, stereotyped approaches and solutions; hedonistic attitude to life and needs; exposure to advertising, the imposition of a need for personal requests, selfishness, imitation; inability to resist momentary pleasures, the influence of peers, groups; unbalance, irascibility, touchiness, capriciousness,

Consequences of drug addiction Drug addiction stimulates numerous types of offenses. Demand for drugs in the context of a ban on commercial trade in them gives rise to the development of illegal drug business and drug mafia. Other types of crime associated with the distribution of drugs and the activities of drug addicts are also growing. If the need for daily intake of drugs is great, then the addict is ready for any crime in order to get money for the next dose. He loses touch with society, is in his natural state of heightened readiness to commit a crime.

Consequences of drug addiction In one year in our country, more than 20,000 crimes are committed on the basis of drug addiction. Only a few recover, therefore there is an opinion about two outcomes of a drug addict - prison or death. Often, drug addicts do not study anywhere and do not work, respectively, and they get money for a dose illegally. Life expectancy in Russia is extremely low and continues to decline. About a third of all deaths in Russia are more or less related to drug addiction and alcoholism.

According to the World Health Organization, drugs have taken the first place among the culprits of premature death of people and have already outstripped cardiovascular diseases and malignant tumors. The severity of the social consequences of drug addiction is exacerbated, given that drug addiction is, to a large extent, a youth problem.

Directions of prevention 1. Distribution of information about the causes, forms and consequences of drug abuse. 2. Formation in adolescents of the skills of analysis and critical evaluation of information received about drugs, and the ability to make the right decisions.

In order to increase the effectiveness of the prevention of drug addiction in adolescents and young people, it is necessary to implement the following measures: increase funding (51.8% of experts); strengthen anti-drug propaganda (33.3%); improve the coordination of interaction between organizations involved in prevention (29.5%); improve the provision of organizations with personnel (28.6%; improve material and technical support (22.8%); diversify the leisure time of children, adolescents and youth (28.3%); increase the efficiency of educational work in educational institutions (14.6%); ensure the improvement of the regulatory framework for anti-drug work (14.4%), improve treatment conditions (8.5%), actively engage in youth employment (7.5%).

It is possible to formulate a number of rules for the construction of preventive programs: - any work in the field of anti-drug education should be carried out only by specially trained personnel within the framework of comprehensive programs based on the approved concept of preventive work; - educational programs should be conducted throughout the entire period of the child's education in school, starting in elementary grades and continuing until graduation; - programs should provide accurate and sufficient information about drugs and their impact on the mental, psychological, social and economic well-being of a person; - information must be relevant and provide knowledge about the consequences of drug abuse for society Here are some things to avoid when working in the field of drug education: - the use of intimidation tactics, the ineffectiveness of such tactics has been proven; - distortions and exaggerations of the negative consequences of drug abuse when describing their effects; - one-time nature of actions aimed at prevention.
